    3. Finally, we have a president that’s standing up for the American worker. The only people who are upset about it is the non-working people living off of government assistance and CNN.

    4. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 always a good laugh from this racist, leonza7. I’m sure he makes both of his mothers proud or are they both fathers? Oh I’m terrible, probably non binary. 🤷🏻‍♂️

trade deficit of $250 billion with china
china steals our intellectual property , copys it and sells at a discount
china pours money into industry making their products cheap in order to bankrupt us companies
they devalue their dollar to make their products cheap
their labor- about $15 a day
china has not been playing fair for decades and trump is addressing that
the past useless incompetent presidents and politicians did nothing about it
we are now paying the price
      americans will suffer ,
in the end its the right thing to do
      trump will win this argument

      S. companies, not countries, pay tariffs

“Americans are already paying record-high tariffs, and the biggest hit to consumers is still to come on September 1,” Tariffs Hurt the Heartland spokesman Jonathan Gold said in a statement.

Contrary to what Mr. Trump erroneously and repeatedly states in tweets, companies that import goods and services pay the tariffs to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, not countries like China. The proceeds wind up in the U.S. Treasury, and companies either absorb the cost or pass some or all of it to customers.

In total, new tariffs imposed under Mr. Trump have added $27.2 billion to the Treasury, with more than 75% of that coming from the taxes that U.S. importers pay on Chinese-made goods, according to Tariffs Hurt the Heartland.

At the same time, U.S. exports to China fell 19% in July from a year earlier to $10.9 billion, customs data showed Thursday, though that was an improvement over a 31% drop the previous month. Still, the trend is down: China’s imports of U.S. goods fell 28.3% in the first seven months of 2019 compared with a year earlier.

    3. @BeBop Aloola in China companies are the government dumbass, higher prices means less sales , when sales go down imports of those goods go down , stop buying cheap Chinese junk build American buy American America first,

    4. @BeBop Aloola hahaha angry delusional all favorite words of loser Democrats cuz they don’t have any kind of argument , you would know effect if it hit you right in the face

  1. To all the people who said trump was a skilled business man I have to say we told you so,any person who can run a casino in to the ground, file bankruptcy 5 times is not a person you want handling financial matters let alone being President.

    1. @R Good lol
.. another government worker who’d have been a walmart greeter if not for an inside connection

    2. @Trumprules Clintondrools – not in the government, but your are in a trailer cooking meth and doing your sister fool. Oh and no 401k you broke hick.

    3. @Linus A I think your polls there are biased or misleading because Trump got a hell of a lot more done than Obama ever did.

    1. Do you think there will be more than a hundred people fired in the next layoff at cnn?

    1. It’s just going to be fine…trade wars are easy to win..China is loosing and America is winning….yet another insult on World intelligence from the orange man child in the Whitehouse

  2. Trump doesn’t have to worry about this information upsetting his base since it’s contained in books.

    1. thiskidkatits : There are NO, “Conservatives,” in the GOP, son. Where have you BEEN? Trump is into EVERY area of your life. You can’t even watch soccer OR football, without him sticking his Orange Orifice into it. Women’s bodies, Amazon, the Post Office, Google, State Funerals, the media, the internet, etc, etc . . . You can’t ESCAPE this Stalinist Style Nanny State telling you WHAT to, “think,” incase any of you learn HOW to think . . . “Conservatives.” . . . That’s a good one! Lol 🤣 😂 😆 😂 🤣

    2. @John Swofford, a temporary wartime tax later rescinded that applied to 1/2 the country is not a National Federal Income Tax. But do keep miring yourself in the minutia.

  3. Well sure facts prove that tariffs don’t work but that only matters to the people that don’t rely on delusions. That excludes Trump and the Trumpets.

    1. @Suomy Nona As one who destroyed “Uncle Sam’s” assertion, which is thoughtless parroting of DJT’s propaganda, I’ll say two things:
      1) Please don’t join DJT’s supporters in the gutter. I understand how frustrating their ignorance is. However, don’t stoop to their level. Stay on the high road. The truth will prevail in the end.

      2) A bit of a correction, VAT are consumption taxes paid by consumers regardless of where the item is produced. In this way, VAT do not favor one country’s producers over any other’s. This is a fundamental reason why VAT and tariffs are no where near the same thing.

    2. Suomy Nona

      You cnn minority follower you

    3. @John Coloe, I would support tariffs by any President. I’ve seen first hand how not protecting the US market while our “trading partners” protect theirs has cratered US manufacturing, destroyed the middle class, and weakened America.

  4. For years America promoted free trade, but now with tariffs, embargo`s and making war threats its getting no where.

  5. so america is no a capitalist nation ,its now a protectionist nation .never seen that go wrong in history before

    1. Mulinaster I truly think you’re being naive with your whole “hard work gone to create things is recognized”. That’s the job of marketing, not capitalism. If people would rather pay less for less quality then that’s that. Marketing should be able to convince consumers that the added quality is worth it, but clearly is not able to. Capitalism worries about lowering costs and maximizing profit. Demand, comparative advantage and free trade give shape to how capitalism is able to achieve this. At the end of the day, this video is about tariffs and how unsustainable they are in the long term and how they usually bring net costs to the US, so stop pretending you defend Capitalism by supporting Trumps policies.

    2. @Mariano Iberico in your country, assumong its not the U.S., business owners work hard for nothing? Hmm, i don’t think i like that. Your logic and arguement makes no sense to me. Capitalism promotes hard work and better ideas, if everyone was paid average wages nobody would put fourth extra effort, there would be NO reason to.

  6. So you let a guy who couldn’t keep a CASINO in business run the American economy? What could possibly go wrong?

    1. @Doondah
Over 28 Billion in subsidies to Farmers not including other industries, Americans are paying for this Tarrif BS , prices go up ! Yet wages stagnate. Senate won’t VOTE to increase minimum wages. WINNING?

    2. @BeBop Aloola Raising minimum wage will just raise cost of living. I’m with you, don’t get me wrong, more money to spend = better economy and life for everyone. We just have corporate monopoly problems that dictate the economy instead of competition because of sellout politicians from both parties. Having illegal immigrants working for Penny’s on those farms and other industries artificially deflates prices and in turn, Harms the economy driving down wages for everyone. The balance of cost of living and pay is illegally offset by these industries that take advantage of desperate people and harm everyone for personal profit. This is why Martin Luther King Jr. Protested illegal immigration in the 60’s. It’s these criminal industries that Democrats pander to telling everyone they are racist if they have something to say about it. The Republican’s pander to different industries like oil allowing oil companies to take people’s land in illegal deals and sending our troops to die. The two parties need to go, and minimum wage isn’t even the issue, just the distraction for people that don’t know better.

    3. If China was the only target of the Trump tariffs, we might have a negotiating position but he messed with multiple strategic partners in at the same time. So instead of being the bull in a China shop, he is a bull stuck in a thorny, never ending bush. moo. Our soy bean farmers were also cut out of the loop long term since China started purchasing from other farmers around the world. No telling if they will ever go back to US sellers again.

  7. Thr tariffs are working.Just ask the American farmers.Bet their tired of winning. And the coal miners can’t keep up with the times.

  8. Tariffs are the most blunt of instruments to affect trade policy goals. With a staggering lack of command of the subject matter, tariffs are 45’s go-to tactic.

Basic economic theory predicts the ineffectiveness of tariffs, while statistics provide the irrefutable proof.

Beyond the idiocy of imposing tariffs, the bigger problems are:
    1) That the Executive has the power to essentially destabilize entire economies, sometimes by catering to special interests.
    2) That tariffs are taxes by another name, and only Congress has the ability to impose taxes. 45’s capricious, unilateral imposition of tariffs are unconstitutional; violating the separation of powers, as well as taxation without representation.

When either party next controls both chambers of Congress, power that’s been ceded to the Executive must be returned to the Legislature.

    1. The US raked in 62b in tariffs last year and plan on 75b this year. A democrat would have given double that to countries that want us dead. Tariffs are a great thing in the long run, they WILL bring back jobs and force china to play fairly.

    2. @Freebird stolen from who???? China pays the tariffs, if china raises prices on goods then US produces goods and cuts china out or china adjusts tariffs against us. China cut us out decades ago with tariffs, trump saw that and attacked them for it and democrats are mad because it will slow China economy. The US is doing great, why hate trump for doing good things for our country?? I dont get democrats way of thinking…

    3. @Doondah Higher prices with the tax going into the governments pockets, yet you receive nothing for that tax!!! Do you get it?

    4. @Freebird when democrats raise taxes i don’t receive anything either. I’d rather have the US take chinas money versus china keeping chinas money. get it?

  9. Agree with you Fareed. I’ve got years in business, and I see the world exactly as you do. These Tariffs are non-sense that will make no long-term changes. Just more jobs will be lost …
