Federal Guidelines To ‘Slow The Spread’ Of Coronavirus Are Expiring. What Comes Next? | MSNBC

The federal social distancing guidelines the White House announced six weeks ago expired Thursday, and the U.S. is still firmly in the grip of a pandemic, with well over 1 million infected and more than 62,000 dead. Some states, like Georgia and Texas, are starting to relax stay-at-home orders, but none of them have met federal guidelines about having sustained a declining number of coronavirus infections for 14 days straight. Here’s a look at where things stand. Aired on 4/30/2020.

      No.
The President of the United States wasn’t playing around equating 60,000+ dead Americans w/”playing games”. Even if Trump today says Trump was only being sarcastic. Even if Trump says today Trump was taken out of context. Even if Trump today says Trump was only joking.
      Sad.

    1. @Dave Schultz hope you’re safe in Siberia and not die out with the rest of your gulag chain gang.

    1. At one point, he’ll fall short of scapegoats… China isn’t pushing for the American states to reopen.
I guess some republican governors will be thrown under the bus… again.

    2. @Rabble Wolf – Only Democrats see disappointment with Trump.
Is that most Americans? Yes, it is. Does it prove anything? Yes and no.

    3. @Scott Hullinger
Only Republicans don’t see disappointment with Trump? Is that most Americans, no. Does Trump’s continual praise of himself prove anything? Yes it does.

    4. @Rabble Wolf – Try to tell me that Trump does NOT have good reason to continually praise his achievements. We have the best economy in ages, and the fewest unemployed percentage of minorities in history. Etc. Etc. Etc.
      Start complaining …
The only ones who hate Trump are the high society ruling class. Why?
SImply because he usurps their power and influence in society, and gives all of the “little power” more power. The ruling class does nothing but subjugate citizens, rather than serve them – – except for like minded wackos: VERY self serving.

    1. @Raider Girl It’s interesting that there were zero deaths from the flu in February.. but that’s none of my business.

    2. @James Tuckner Stop lying. People are still dying from flu, you need to stop spreading your BS.

    3. IT SURE IS!!
You are the ones playing it by taking NO ACTION to ELIMINATE your Dysfunctional Leader!!!
TAKE RESPONSIBILITY – NOBODY IS GOING TO DO IT FOR YOU!!

  1. First federal guideline we should follow: the guideline that allows the removal of this current president

  2. Open America. -Starting with the White House Tours…. without masks, gloves nor testing

    1. Jasmine O’Donnell now your getting out of hand. Just because they open doesn’t mean everyone will follow. Following evil that is.

  3. Cant play these games anymore…. that will be good news to the 60,000 plus who have died. They can get up now since the game is over. Something is seriously wrong with anybody that still supports this bafoon

    1. Deon Fellows I know right? This is the problem in a nutshell. He thinks this is all “a game”.

    2. Trump was talking about the Democrats Game playing with all the wasting time getting this back on track.

    3. Tony Read If that’s what he was talking about, then he is clearly projecting. No one has wasted more time than him. He spent months downplaying the severity of the whole thing and even called it a hoax.

    4. @Tony Read why is it the Democrats’ game when they’re simply following the advice of Dr. Fauci and Dr. Birx?

    5. I know right? He means, playing games with the American People’s lives…guess he’s getting bored with that..TRUMPSTER’S tryin’ to get to a rally!

  4. “What comes next?”
    Dying. Lots of dying.
My expectation is 250.000 by July and 1 million before the end of the year.
Trump is happy: The USA has the greatest numbers!

    1. @Marc F. Nielssen and multiplying X10 makes no sense. That’s not science that’s you listening to fake YouTube scientists. But keep believing what you know is wrong and spreading misinformation, what could go wrong with misinformation. Lol how was your lysol drink that trump told you to sip on? 😂😂😂

    2. @Jesse Parsh
You still don’t get it. Arrogance does not replace knowledge. But don’t worry, most people don’t understand exponentiality.

    3. @Marc F. Nielssen and if I’m reading your drivel correctly you’re saying that this coronavirus has an R0 of 3. Even at its most contagious it was marked around a 2.3 and in most states it’s down under 1. Like new York has it at .9 last I heard, could easily be lower by now.

    4. @Jesse Parsh
That’s not what it means. At .9 the virus would disappear. You could of course ask your teacher. Bye, kid.

    5. @Marc F. Nielssen I’ll bet you 10 grand that we don’t sniff 250k deaths let alone a million. 65k deaths in over 5 months but we’re going to add 200k deaths in two months 😂😂😂😂😂

And we’re going to add 900k deaths in 7 months. 😂😂😂😂 I realize that you’re a bored troll but at least come up with something feasible.

  5. I wonder how many elderly Americans who fought overseas for their country will die because of the leadership of a draft dodger?

    1. @Scott Hullinger , SPECIALLY FROM, these chatters, that NEVER SERVED or worse, from the NEVER EVER WOULD “SERVE”, COWARDS. The INFAMOUS “CHAT WARRIORS” on here.
      HURRAHHHH…..

    2. @Michael Liles , But REMEMBER, TRUMP did NOT START THE WARS or INVENT the NOTION……. Furthermore, DID CLINKTON and OBUMUS serve? What was their excuse, did they even thought of VOLUNTEER? So, STFU, HOW about YOURSELF???? You WARRIOR YOU……
      HURRAAHHHHH……
      ME??? 70-74 DANANG NAM…

    3. Please post your service record. Army? It was Cuomo who murdered all of the seniors in his state….sending infected patients into the nursing homes. Baseless narratives are the foundation of leftist propaganda. MSNBC is your mouthpiece.

  6. What I find very interesting is this constant mention of “herd immunity” while at the same time, every scientist is admitting that they do not know if those who have recovered from COVID-19 and have antibodies, are even “immune.”
They still do not know, so how can we even have “herd immunity” if our bodies can’t even produce antibodies that are PROVEN to protect?
Hopefully, it’s just a matter of time and we’ll find that we do product good antibodies that make us immune. But right now, the pros admit, WE DO NOT KNOW!

    1. What can I say about those people who has failed miserably to understand about science studies on contagious outbreaks. Being immune themselves doesn’t make them a non-spreader to those who has compromised immune system. Also they lack of mathematical evaluation on the amount numbers of expected deaths in the result of their doing. Sad to say that those educated people disregard the teachings of God’s wisdom to what humanity means

    2. The answer is they don’t know. The USA is one giant experiment which the rest of the world is watching with interest. Unfortunately, due to gross mismanagement, the US has no choice but to ‘hurd immunity’. Good luck.

    3. @Blondie SL When scientists say they “don’t know” they are simply being careful. Scientists are not going to make a definitive statement about immunity until they have proved it 100%. If they did it any other way they wouldn’t be scientists. However in an interview with Trevor Noah on The Daily Show Dr. Fauci stated that “we don’t know” (of course) but that unless this virus behaves differently than every other virus we know of, he feels “really confident” that those who recover will be immune. He also said he would be “willing to bet anything on it”.

I mean just thinking about it logically, that’s how viruses work. You contract the disease, your immune system produces antibodies in order to fight it and then if and when you recover from it you are left with an immunity. The chances that this virus is somehow unique and doesn’t cause the same sort of response from one’s immune system is very unlikely.

Don’t misunderstand, I’m not arguing for early reopening here. I’m just saying that there is reason to be optimistic at least regarding this particular question.

    4. @HeavyInstinct Hiya. Yes, I totally understand your comment.
You are 100% correct. The scientists, therefore WE, just do not know as yet.
Time will tell if we get “herd immunity” and for how long it would work.
This virus, as Fauci and others have stated, is not like any other when it comes to its virility and contagiousness.
The problem here, is that this screwed up “administration” ONLY considers MONEY and the ELECTION. They are NOT putting priority on people.
Many (most?) places in Europe seems to be doing it right with gradual opening and
      TESTING TESTING TESTING
which provides the necessary data to localize which areas are hardest hit. Then they will take the necessary actions to isolate those areas rather than an entire country.
That does seem the smarter move.
But right now, just, as Fauci say, “flipping the switch” is the most stupid way to do things.
Let’s hope that level heads prevail on that front.
The one thing I like with the fed guide lines is 14 days of numbers falling.
Sadly, it appears that the states that are trying to open are totally ignoring that very vital condition.
So far, there is not a single state or city that has 14-days of diminishing cases/deaths.
At any rate, please do take care and stay healthy.

  7. This whole deal sounds like genocide to me. There are too many poor people without health insurance, there are too many people of color without health insurance and all are susceptible to the deadly virus so lets do nothing but run our mouths and watch them die.
By watching the lying orange circus, aren’t you getting this feeling too?

    1. @Scott Hullinger Nothing, in a partisan setting. Go back also to the cases that states have filed against Trump. Open up your mind a bit, read up on epidemics of since time immemorial, scientific papers, governance in times of pandemics in urban and rural settings, etc., where humanitarian mindset over political ideology is needed.

    2. @Crystal Giddens We know Florida isn’t testing elderly dead, so the death cert is pointless.
      Like your existence.

    3. @Colin Cleveland you can’t test dead people for a cold virus. you are a moron. no such test has ever existed

    4. The people of color walk into an Emergency Room and end up getting free care. Every hospital has indigent care contingencies.

  8. The next step, or “plan”, if you will, is to do business as usual. The “Plan” is to let you and me work, die, and replace us with another person desperate for income. We are cannon fodder.

    1. @stephen kroll True. I live in Denmark. Four weeks ago I got a flu. I was sent home by my boss. My doctor had turned on an answering machine telling people to STAY away from him . “STAY home until you recover, plus 48 hours. Then you can go back to work”. Only those hospitalized got a test. When I recoverd I went back to work at CONSOLIS Group, noticing they did business as usual. Every time someone got sick he was sent home and the rest of the firm kept on working. Then I quit my job there. To protest . I have a new job now for a company taking covid 19 seriously. Social distancing signs and hand disinfection are litterally everywhere.

    1. @Patrick O’Keeffe – True. But trust me, most old Republican people are definitely smart enough to know exactly when to stay out of harm’s way. Virus? Who cares? Seriously.
Most older people also don’t live paycheck to paycheck. They know how to budget.

    2. Scott Hullinger, they might know to stay out of harm’s way, but the others do not. It was not old people that brought the virus into care homes. It was their families.

    3. Scott Hullinger not saying not to go back, be it needs to be under control, need testing to know where it is. All these states have not done this. 1% of the US is 3m,. History has shown us the 2nd wave can be worse than the 1st. You get an expert to say yes, we are ready to go back, yes we are ready for the 2nd wave. Then the US is ready, till then Trump playing politics with a virus. My money on the virus.

    1. @R L T no it doesn’t. I don’t think the US or UK governments have done very well at handling this.

  9. 1918 pandemic lasted 3 years with a second wave alot worse than the first.
Because they lifted the restrictions to soon like they are doing now. June and July are going to be bad. Stay safe everyone. 😷

    1. @Billy Bob They can’t just let it be, they would do a lock down with stricter rules most likely.

    1. …. yet you still take NO ACTION to remove them?????
      Thats whats REALLY Egregious!!!
      BTW: it’s spelled Incredulous!!
Are you a Trump University Graduate?

  10. How the F do you open when you have a zillion more cases than when you closed????? This is insane!!

  11. Trump Wants to Reopen the Economy Because He’s Panicking About Reelection Polls😡

    1. Even FOX polls showed that the majority of Americans wanted Trump impeached. His approval rating has been in the low to mid 40’s the entire time. He doesn’t stand a chance.
