  1. They gerrymander, they cheat, they lie, they repress, they obstruct. Wouldn’t it be easier to just come up with some decent policies for the American people?

    1. @A T Yep… only “so much”… and it’s the RepubliCONs who do ALL of the gerrymandering.

  2. If we get a fourth stimulus check I think young people who normally don’t qualify should get a check too

    1. And you might as well start including us people making more than $75,000 but less than $100,000. I’m sick of working.

    2. @EDU. A.U.N I was being sarcastic. People should just be working, and the Government should making that possible, not handing out checks.

    1. THE PROBLEM IS, THE NC 12TH DISTRICT IS A DEM DISTRICT SET UP BY DEMONRATS AND REPRESENTED BY DEM. ALMA ADAMS…THEY ARE ACTING LIKE THIS IS A REPUBULICN DISTRICT SET UP BY REPUBLICANS…IT WASN’T…IN FACT, IT’S THE MOST DEMOCRATIC DISTRICT IN THE STATE WITH A MAJORITY OF BLACK VOTERS….SMH

    2. @James Smith EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEM ARE…BUT DON’T FEEL SLIGHTED…THE REPUBLICANS ARE TRASH TOO….SMH

  3. Everyone: “Why do republicans hate our democracy so much?”
republicans: **Instigate a terrorist attack on our own Capitol to overturn the fair election**
    Everyone: 😳😬
    republicans: “What?!”

  4. The problem was created by computers – you need a lot of processing power to get gerrymandering down to a science like this. Prior to the 70’s gerrymandering like this was an educated guess that often backfired.

The solution is available from computers – define districts by this mathematical algorithm: Divide the state’s population into the required number of districts using the set of paths that has the shortest total distance and fewest possible changes in direction.

  5. This is the one thing that the filibuster should be broken on. Unfortunately the courts as they exist not are not likely to do much to protect are basic rights to equal representation. We need tools that allows immediate action when states cross the line. We need HR 1!

    1. Well yes, with one of the major parties in power being fully dependant on gerrymandering… It’s the hill they’re willing to die on.

    1. @Jock Young True, although the DOJ can do a review, but Garland must make the decision as Biden has pledged to let the DOJ be independent, unlike the last Gang Boss that was in there.

  6. As someone who lives in one of the most gerrymandered districts in Texas, thanks for this effort.

  7. The Supreme court flubbed this one when they felt these voting restriction laws Weren’t any issue anymore.

    1. They didnt flub it, the Heritage Foundation/Koch Brothers Cabal that pulls their strings told them to do it.

  8. If you gerrymander in the UK you do not pass Go and you do not collect £200. In some aspects the USA has a long way to go.

  9. The sad part of our present situation of being controlled by the minority party is because we let this system of redistricting to exist …

  10. This is just stupid to have either side draw maps when they are in charge. It’s like having your family on the jury at your trial..

  11. Thank you for this. HR1 is probably the most important piece of legislation, among many, that the senate will vote on this year. The fact that Republicans are screaming and lying about it is unsurprising. The fact that so few Democrats seem to understand or even basically care about the bill is much more surprising. We need to get the word out.

  12. Gerrymandering has been a problem for at least 50 years. If both parties actually cared about this, they’d have gotten together and fixed it.
