Jill Genrich Well if you are a health care professional, you SHOULD be washing your hands dummy. I haven’t had a flu vaccine since 1990 before I left for Desert Storm. That Vaccine has an effective rate of less than 10%. Countries in Europe will give those stats and places like Japan does NOT give them. Still up to, not every year, but up to 60,000 still die from the flu. We don’t shut down for that season Nov. till mid March. You don’t quarantine HEALTHY PEOPLE.

More than 80000 have died in just over 1 month, and that was with social distancing and lockdown. I used to believe that I didn’t need the flu vaccine either, I’d rather let my immune system do the work, but what I didn’t understand then was I could be carrying the flu and pass it onto others, so this year, the first time in over ten years, I got the shot. Even though it might not be 100% effective, it is still better than nothing. I’d like to see where you got the 10% effectiveness number from, according to the CDC it’s much higher.

I’m confused by the air of urgency in distribution, we’ve done this before right at the clinic or the lab. We won’t be seeing this stuff till January, by then we’ll have competent leadership to steer us with science and logistics, not baffling bulltschit and fingerpointing.

HIV as a virus is much different. It mutates rapidly and the human immune response can’t eliminate infection, so an effective vaccine is much more difficult to make. The coronavirus we’re dealing with now doesn’t have these issues.
