Fmr. Obama Adviser: Coronavirus Economic Effects ‘Bigger Than 2008’ | The Last Word | MSNBC

  1. Back then there was only a billion people and no one owned an assault rifle. Think about that

  2. The good thing is that your president is a self-described stable genius with a real aptitude for epidemiology. Crisis averted.

    1. Brexit Refugee I have to imagine the whole time:
that he uses all the American corona testing kit every second by his self, and no one else can uses

    1. The groundwork has been laid by US monetary policy since 2008. You just have to laugh, if you know that the companies that have wasted hundreds of billions of dollars buying back their own shares to boost the share price, are going hat in hand begging for bail outs to Washington in the weeks to come. Pin meets bubble.

    1. Humm, a nobody firing the Prez? Good luck with that. And finally I’ll take fries with my burger and shake.

  3. These are the times when America truly misses President Obama and his leadership. He was probably better than we deserved. 😔
President Obama and his people handled H1N1 and ebola the way a national health emergency should be handled. The response was well coordinated with medical experts, and 10 times more efficient. Plus President Obama didn’t make it his mission to lie to the public every single day about what was happening. And he made sure that from day one, the government’s response was led and guided by the advice of the medical experts. Which meant that there wasn’t a constant fog of misinformation going around.

    1. Obama sucked. He played the black card to get into office. The old phrase was “Thanks Obama” the new phrase is “Thanks Corona”

  4. If America was a casino, Trump would have already filed for bankruptcy, looted the coffers of as much money as possible, and then sneak out the back door before anyone knows what happened…leaving the rest of us to deal with the damage and chaos he left behind. The fact that he can’t do that now has to be frustrating for him.

    1. That and the fact that his tactic of bullsh!$$ing his way through everything has no impact on the virus -or the markets.

  5. And the thing is, 45*’s incompetence via his infantile trade war has already deeply hurt the agriculture, manufacturing, and trade industries so the economy was fragile even before this and ready to fall. Everything he touches becomes bankrupt! Now it’s the US’s turn.

    1. His disinformation campaign is what’s rattling the markets and causing unnecessary harm to human health. Trust me the 1% will soon turn on him if he keeps eating into their profits after their massive stock buy backs.

  6. Democrats during the 2016 Election predicted a Huge Economic Crash if Trump was Elected!
We did! The Republican Administrations pattern has been the same since the Reagan/ Bush Sr. Administration! Tax Cuts and economic crashes! Bsnks closed during the Reagan and Bush Sr. Administration and then the Economic crash of Bush Jr.!
History should have been taken into consideration on Voters! But our Voters have Made it a Popularity contest rather than The Actual policies these Presidents Present to the American People!
Trump was Not very Popular (Hillary Won the Popular Vote), but Trump and Bush Jr., won by a Technicality!
True Democracy can not exist with these Technicalities in Place!
Our Country has suffered Huge Economic Damage to our Country! Trillions of Dollars removed from our economy and the Poor, Working Poor, and Middleclass has suffered huge tax increases in the form of higher prices for Goods, Federal and State income taxes!
The United States Can not Afford to Have a Reoublican in Power another 4 years! $500,000 million Americans are Homeless in this Country, 500,000 million more have 3 Generations living in the same home because they are not paid enough in wages, and the high price of Everthing Ametican families Need to take care of those Families! This is Because of Republican policies the last 40 years!
Now Thousands of Americans may die because this President CUT the CDC budget and Our Medical System is lacking Nurses, Doctors, Hospitals and Equipment to take care of those Thousamds of Extra ill American Citizens!
Call your Public Representatives if they are still working in thdir Offices! Demand They Do Something to Help The 99% that should have been
    Done a Month A go!
Instead they were Allowing Trump to Remain in Office After Commiting Crimes against Our Co stitutional Laws! Now Trumps Incompetence in Prepareing for this Virus and concern Only for his Re-Election! A

    1. 1st,way to long.2nd,if you think we have a true democracy your crazy.it was planned for trump to win and we’ve been in a recession since 08 or b4. the public just isnt let in on it.numbers can be skewed in any direction they want and division is the true goal of the elite and all presidents.not knowing these things keeps our people divided and fighting while they put us deeper into slavery and gain full control

    1. Yeah all adults just got 1000 dollars but uh yeah keep riding on the back of the unindoctinated ibtards

  7. I’ve been saying this was coming. It’s been there the virus just pushed us over the edge. History economics educate yourself. Don’t depend on others. Trust what you see in your communities and elsewhere and in the world. What goes up must come down. It’s just a question of when. Everything has a shelf life.

    1. Newton’s 2nd Law: “For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.”
originally written for macrodynamics in physics , but has shown to be true in dozens of other disciplines as well.

  8. I’m no economist but I have an idea. Admittedly, I’ve heard this before, not original. Let’s start implementing the green new deal. Even for the minority of daft individuals who don’t take climate change seriously, you can’t deny that we can make the world cleaner and add the biggest boost to our economy since the industrial revolution.

  9. can anyone list some good fictional novels, (not movie), where a virus, micro organism, or disease ended civilization as we know it. I’ve read “The Andromeda Strain” by Michael Crichton and “I Am Legend” by Richard Matheson

  10. Well of course it is with all the intentional media over-reaction. Let’s compare:
Swine Flu vs CoronaVirus – The Hysteria is Political Theatre

From the CDC re.: Swine Flu Pandemic: From April 12, 2009 to April 10, 2010, CDC estimated there were 60.8 million cases (range: 43.3-89.3 million), 274,304 hospitalizations (range: 195,086-402,719), and 12,469 deaths (range: 8868-18,306) in the United States due to the (H1N1)pdm09 Swine Flu virus.
From the start of the virus to its finish, the Dow rose over 40%. (Forbes)
    Why the big difference?
The media downplayed the flu. 0bama did nothing special to mitigate the flu and relied on the CDC to handle everything. The media never criticized 0bama’s lack of response..
Can anyone justify the current hysteria and condemnation of 70 deaths under Trump when compared to 12,469 deaths under 0bama with no hysteria or panic or criticism?
There is no justification. It is all politics.
This is just another example of TDS, Trump Derangement Syndrome.
Some people have simply lost the capacity for using logic.
