Presidential historian Jon Meacham and former Watergate prosecutor Nick Akerman join “The Beat” to analyze President Trump’s historic commutation of longtime Trump adviser Roger Stone, who was convicted of lying to Congress and witness tampering. Roger Stone was Trump’s connection to WikiLeaks. Rick Gates and Steve Bannon both testified under oath in Stone’s trial that Stone was Trump’s link to WikiLeaks, and everyone involved in Trump’s campaign knew about it.
Rick Gates testified under oath in Roger Stone’s trial that he was in the presidential limousine with Trump, and he’d heard Stone tell Trump about the WikiLeaks release of hacked DNC emails before the dump happened — a direct contradiction of what Trump told Mueller in his written testimony. Trump knew about every WikiLeaks release before they happened, but in his written testimony, he claimed he knew nothing about WikiLeaks, or the hacked emails.
It was Watergate all over again. Except this time, it was far worse. In this case, it wasn’t Americans physically breaking into the DNC headquarters, it was Russian intelligence officers hacking into the DNC servers. And Trump and his cronies were all in on it.
