Foo Fighters, Tina Turner, Kraftwerk On List Of Rock Hall Inductees

  1. Joe, apparently, does not know that Joan Jett’s all girl band, The Runaways, predates the Go-Gos.

    1. Yeah, the Runaways never get enough credit or recognition. Not sure why. Must be a money thing, as always.

  2. Kraftwerk changed the music world wide!
A shame that Kate Bush, experimentalist and inventor of the head-microphone didn’t make it! She is THE female musician and artist of the 20th century!

    1. Kate Bush is great. So is DEVO. Also, Todd Rundgren produced the Psychedelic Furs album, ‘Forever Now’.

Foo Fighters…I was never a fan. And I really like punk and grunge. And the Go-Go’s is a very good call.

David Bowie was a VERY big fan of Kraftwerk, and that speaks volumes.

    1. Seriously ? No Tull ? I’ve been to places where young guys are still finding Jethro Tull & lovin it . B.S.

  3. Kraftwerk belong in that special category of bands who did change the way music was made and created a whole new genre.
I don’t know that they would ever fit the label ‘rock and roll’ but as innovators they were far beyond the curve.

    1. I agree. But many inductees are not Rock and Roll. If they are going to call it the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame than the inductees should be rockers.

    2. Kraftwerk makes about as much sense as Jethro Tull winning for best Heavy Metal group. Which, in fact, did happen once.

  4. Idk what the guy is talking about, but the “electronic dance music” EDM scene always credits hip hop especially early hip hop to the creation of EDM music not rock. Also the first EDM song to ever go platinum was actually the theme song from Mortal Kombat!! Lol

  5. How are the foo fighters and kraft Mac n cheese even in the same lot as Tina Turner! (And how many even gasped thinking how is it she wasn’t already there?)

  6. I’m really confused ive been following this since the original nominations but I did not see Kraftwerk on the list. Devo yes, but didn’t see Kraftwerk.

    1. They got in not as part of the main Performers group but as a sub-group called “Early Influence Award”:

“The Early Influence Award shall be given to a performing artist or group whose music and performance style have directly influenced and helped inspire and evolve rock & roll and music that has impacted youth culture.”

What people voted on was the category Performers. That is the category Foo Fighters, The Go-Go’s, Jay-Z, Carole King, Tina Turner and Todd Rundgren were inducted in under. LL Cool J, who was also part of this list, made the Hall of Fame this year under a different category: the Musical Excellence Award.

  7. Saw the Foos on their first tour 26 years ago this month, and they weren’t even the headline act on the bill. Another truth: Todd Rundgren awaiting, er, enshrinement for all these years only serves to remind what a joke the very notion of a rock ‘n’ roll hall of fame is –such is to seek the absurd outcome of institutionalizing a form of revolutionary art and, even worse, it provides Cleveland with a reason to continue to exist…

  8. CHER not nominated ….again? It’s not like she has been in the biz for 60+ years. Like her or not she has had a #1 record in each decade of her career. HMMMM

  9. Coming from the home town of Kraftwerk and having bought my first Kraftwerk record in the 80s I love to hear that they now made it into the R & R hall of fame. Sadly Florian Schneider is no more with us to see this happening.

  10. Sooooooo excited for Kraftwerk to be inducted. These guys changed my life when I discovered them. I had found my music.

  11. It took Rundgren a while because he always said he didn’t want it. Kate Bush should get in no question, but she didn’t have many hits in the US and didn’t tour (except for 1 month in England) so it will take a while. Great to see Kraftwerk get in!!!

  12. The chivalrous undershirt indisputably brake because korean congruently lighten circa a dizzy porch. wide-eyed, good mom
