  1. how about an anti bark zapper dog collar for politicians with a remote control used by the taxpayers

    1. Why don’t we all just seek permission each month when we want to talk over internet or go anywhere from B/n/a/i b/r/i/t/h.

    2. @The west is being destroyed. It’s an inside job. no they dont need to know who you were I’m contact over the internet just in person contact since if your sick they could be possibly sick to and will spread it soon enough. So rather then lock down canada as a whole they can just make you stay home for two weeks and for the persons you saw in real life to be home for two weeks in order to not lock down canada.

    1. @The west is being destroyed. It’s an inside job. Only in the troubled minds of the paranoid. Absolutely it could be used for nefarious purposes (not like the government can’t already access this information if it chooses to do so, see the snowden leaks). Heck here you are making political statements on a service run by Google, the world’s largest aggregator of information but somehow because they’re “provate” you’re comfortable doing so? (Google has worked with China and other authoritarian regimes in the past to censor information. No reason to think they’re not sharing their massive spreadsheet on you with the government). But there’s no reason it couldn’t be kept secure and destroyed after use for it’s intended purpose same as all the other contact tracing.

If you start by assuming the government is evil and work backwards everything will look nefarious. Doesn’t make it true.

    2. China simply followed what was written in the textbook about how to deal with pandemics. Literally every country should have done the same thing in the very beginning of the pandemic if following the advice of the health experts.

    3. @The west is being destroyed. It’s an inside job. oy vey, of course they were, now remember…always the victims, our chosen group is always the victims, that’s why you are not allowed to push any sort of idea that we control anything, even though we openly admit to controlling large portions of the global landscape.

    4. @Paul K

India kicked Gates out of the country. Call them paranoid?

    5. Can I call the reaction to this covid19 which has the death toll of a severe flu, paranoid? I mean, we never quarantined everyone, not alone the healthy, or risked so much of the economy before.

    1. Cory Challice so we are going to have to report for frequent testing, or else? No thank you

    2. @Sergey Filat because we have a medical professional running bc right now and not some crack smoker or crack smokers brothee

    3. @Paul K ignorance is bliss, but also infuriating to those to see the writing on the wall..

    1. @Jon K Scientists Are Tired of Explaining Why The COVID-19 Virus Was Not Made in a Lab
      JACINTA BOWLER
      20 APRIL 2020

    2. @Jon K could have just looked it up. If you really wanted to know it was even on the first page of the google results.

    3. @Jon K believe me or dont my name having pokemon doesnt mean jack since I saw an article and that’s why I believe it. What you think I just made it up?

    1. Thats what I hate about politics, we can vote to elect but we cannot vote on bills or laws. We need direct democracy in Canada with referendums.

    2. @Sean Henry
Exactly. We need a democracy day. Once a year, a mandatory holiday for *everyone* (except volunteers for voting) and we go to vote on specific policy proposals. We are living under a system that went out of date long ago when voting was pretty difficult for most.

  2. So much fear from so little devastation, one could argue the most significant devastation has thus far come as a result of an overreaction.

    1. TG7 exactly, a huge economic cost that will change the world and devastate lives for years and years to come… Compared to very few who have died… The govnt response is not justified in the slightest

    2. @TG7 From all the numbers we can get from other countries, especially those who didn’t do a full lockdown, that “many” lives lost you’re talking about is very likely to be lower than the number of lives we’ll lose from suicide due to recession and mass unemployment causing widespread depression. The virus is only deadly to a small subset of the population, yet instead of a quarantine for those who are at risk, we go into a nationwide house arrest for everyone, effectively making matters worse at no gain. We will be getting a second wave when we finally release this stupid lockdown and we’ll most likely end up with the same amount of death from Covid-19 as if we hadn’t lockdowned at all and only quarantined the vulnerable.

    3. @snaplemouton interesting view I didn’t think of it like that. I will need to reflect on it. Thanks.

    4. Except, no, because we’ve had time to increase our ventilator stockpiles and PPE for medical professionals so hospitals don’t get overwhelmed.

Suicides from economic hardship is an absolutely real issue. One that could easily and effectively be solved through a Universal Basic Income. We have the greatest GDP per capita than we ever had yet the common person is struggling while wealth is concentrated into the hands of the few despite being the fruits of other’s labour.

THAT is the issue you should be raising a fuss over and protesting.

Not a classic response to an outbreak that’s effectively followed the textbook advice going back since we discovered germ theory.

    5. @Paul K thanks Paul K.
I read your comments and thanks for spreading this infomation.

    1. @Jon K You’re half-right. There is a small minority of Canadians who control a majority of the wealth. THEY aren’t being taxed enough. I doubt you’re one of them.

And who says it’ll be liberals? Healthcare is handled on the provincial level, and I highly doubt that there will be an ideological test to sign up. It’ll likely be done largely by medical interns and those with some form of medical training like transcriptionists.

All Doug is calling for is a National Strategy, and some Federal funding to get the ball rolling. They’re the ones with the ability to literally print money after all.

    2. @Paul K “It was so nice of our federal liberal government to provide me with this secure provincial job, guess who I’m voting for?” Happens all the time, it’s why our government is the largest it’s ever been and ever expanding. No one will vote themselves out of a job.

    3. @Paul K “hey, I’m already being mugged, might as well go an ATM and give him everything in my account”. The spread is already contained, just going by official reported data, 6.7% of our tests are coming back positive, and that number has been stable for at least 2 weeks (7% last time i did the math last week of april). How about we don’t make their abuse of power easier (even if marginally), thanks.

    4. @broutefoin The spread is contained, currently, with a widespread lockdown in effect.

Without contact tracing and knowing where community transmission is happening easing up on social distancing will absolutely result in a second wave making our efforts to this point for naught.

    5. @Paul K The testing they are doing is inconclusive. Testing for antibodies does NOT tell you if you have corona, it tells you your body is fighting SOMETHING, POSSIBLY COVID, BUT INCONCLUSIVE. So really, who gives a fk what their numbers are, THEY ARE INCONCLUSIVE.

  3. So much fear.. so little impact …. this is insane this is a take over of our lifestyle and culture .. a total take over ..

    1. thats taking place in every single Province/State around the Globe…if you don’t like protecting peoples lives think of your own

    2. @thims1961 Thims you boomer, why must you take away young people’s freedoms? Just go gently into the night….

    1. Because its an insane privacy violation. You seriously want the government to track you at all times and create a network with who youve come into contact with 24/7. Not that they arent already doing that with intelligence agencies but this would formalize their right to do it

    2. clysses S if you look at South Korea this has proven to be effective in containing the virus

    3. @0oMadeleine0o exactly, they did contact tracing exactly like china bit unlike china they didn’t abuse there powers. They did what was needed to stop it as much as possible and that’s it. China I believe did more.

    4. _ Pokemonlink246 the difference is that S Korean government doesn’t collect private information like China, just pathways & contacts

    1. can you explain please? but for what reason does the government need to spy on you, your but 1 person? is the government that interested in your daily life?

    1. We need to flood their email or phone (they love that), or write a letter to send. We must make MPPs fully aware that they will not get any support if they follow the Gates foundation badly inspired advise. Trudeau has forgotten what freedom means to Canadians.

    2. @redrose 7734 Your not a Canadian bro, you belong to the world according to you PM.

  4. Under Pierre Trudeau, we lost our sovereignty on our money. Now Ford want his son to finish the job. And you thought you were free. Dictatorship of this country, he is continually trying to do. Canadians need to wake up!

    1. Exactly, most sleepy Canadians think are money comes from the bank of Canada. Journalist feel important when they talk about the ” feds”.

  5. Such a negative and misleading title; “Ford calls out Ottawa”. He just said there needs to be a national plan for contact tracing and for provinces and territories to work with the feds on that.

  6. He is part of the “cabal”. Really we need permission to see our grand kids or grand parents, I think not, I have my big girl pants on can manage my family affairs, thanks but no thanks!!!
