Francis Ford Coppola Backs Prosecutors Playing Godfather Clip At Trump Adviser’s Trial | MSNBC

Francis Ford Coppola discusses his film ‘The Godfather’ being played in former Trump aide Roger Stone’s trail, in a new interview with MSNBC’s Ari Melber. Coppola says ‘Godfather has become part of the culture,’ and politics because ‘some of the most unattractive political leaders in the world’ share The Godfather as ‘their favorite movie.’ Coppola discusses why he is re-releasing his mafia-inspired film ‘The Cotton Club,’ and why he wanted to right the studio’s pressure to originally limit the portrayal of some black artists in the film. 1. What a catch Ari, Coppola? Your star is shining! I don’t know why but I thought the guy passed. So happy he is still with us when is he going to put out a NEW movie? Besides the remake or recut of “The Cotton Club”?

    1. That’s a great scene and as I recall, that particular dialogue was ad-libbed by Richard Castellano. Such a fantastic movie.

    1. @Hingle McCringleberry No, because Pres. Z was desparate for the military aide to protect his country. He had no choice.

  2. Only wish I had an opportunity to connect with this legendary man. He paints real life for all of us to be a part of

    1. Trump isn’t that bright. What he says is pretty much what he means, however socially unacceptable or illegal. 😄

  3. At any Trump associate’s trial they should play clips from Bozo’s Big Top to illustrate the Trump Orgs practices and standards.

  4. Trump et al must’ve gotten a few reels of “The Three Stooges” spliced into their copy of “The Godfather” movies..

  5. I wonder what a modern day qatsi trilogy would look like: Republiqqatsi / RepuXiqatsi / Repugcorruptiqatsi.

  6. I was wondering what happened to the albino weasel Stone; I really hope he gets hung out to dry in court. His lies and smears did a lot of damage, which he gloated about. He actually boasted about being the one who shut down the recount in Florida during the Gore/Bush election by paying goons to invade the building they were taking place in until they were shut down. So basically, Stone was bragging about how he shut down Democracy and a fair counting of the votes. Stone is as slimy as it gets.

As for the Cotton Club, once again we have evidence that producers are idiots. “Too many black stories”. What is that supposed to mean exactly? A story is a story. If a story about a black family struggling to survive during that era is compelling, then people will watch it: they won’t care if it’s about black people or any other ethnic group. People identify with the underdog, no matter what.

It’s a shame Coppola had to wait nearly 40 years to have his story told the way he wanted it to.

  7. “always give a sucker an even break, you never know when you’re going to need him”, E G Robinson in one of his movies. apparently trump never saw that one.
