I would love to go back to the old days where I simply disagreed with there policies but we could still be civil towards each other.

After being a registered Republican for 51 years, I recently voted for Biden and Harris then re-registered as an independent. I just couldn’t stand the hypocrisy and how the Republican party is in now in a death spiral. I would encourage others to do the same.
@Dulce R-L Well, he’s going to be reassuring to establishment types, but we are going to have a reality based conversation in this country about where we want to go.
For me, lots of available capital for entrepreneurs, strict regulation of oligarchs, high tax rates for extremely rich people, and investments in green energy, education and universal health care sound good.
If we can weed out crazy racists in the police force, that would be great.
If we can dial back the swaggering bullies walking around with guns on their hips, that would be more relaxing.
If we can legalize marijuana and stop throwing people in jail for marijuana, that would be terrific. If we could stop spending money on that and taxing it instead to fund social welfare (like mental health), double bonus.
If we could stop fighting about abortion and homosexuality and instead recognize that people have a right to live their own lives by their own ethics and biology, that would be beneficial.
If we could sue crackpots out of mass media and instead give people information that is vetted by scientists and scholars instead of liars, that would be an improvement.
If we could put rich and influential people in jail when they commit crimes, that would be a step forward.
If we could abolish oligarchy and expand capitalism, that would be great.
If we could stop foreign powers from hacking the nuclear weapons systems, that would certainly help.
If we could punish traitors for helping foreign powers wreck the country, undermine our alliances and get away with crimes, that would enhance our standing in the world.
I could go on, but I think I made my point. We are all in this together.
@Dulce R-L I’m a big supporter of the Lincoln Project and felt their efforts in the swing states made a difference. Many of their co-founders and senior advisors who were life long Republicans, like George Conway, Tara Setmayer and Jennifer Horn have also re-registered as Independents. RIP GOP.

I don’t understand how people keep voting for the same, on either side.. I’ve always been an Independent and listened to the person and not the party..
