It would be interesting to see what percentage of the people who come to a hospital each day are admitted, and their length of stay. Someone admitted to the ICU is far different than someone who’s concerned, but observed and sent home.

You mr Governor, did a amazing job bringing these numbers down dramatically especially the fact number of residents in NY, NY! We are the strongest state in the country, not only that but the hub of the country, if not the world! People question why NY got hit so hard, that in itself is why we dealt with numbers so high!
You got hit hard because Coumo didn’t shut things down until 8,000 infections. He was not convinced shutting down would help even after CDC advised it when infections were at 1700. He explained his reasoning the day before for not shutting down. He waited far longer than any other state or nation before closing. That can’t be disputed. He doesn’t dispute it. This delay led to more infections and deaths. I watch his pressers. He is sincere, even when asking for 40,000 ventilators. He only needed 7,000, but I think he thought he did..He just didn’t understand the models and I suppose didn’t know that 40,000 was 10,000 more than in France, Germany, and Italy combined! He just didn’t get good advice I guess.. He seems like a nice guy who’s trying to do what’s right. He’s doing the best he can..I hope he follows the CDC phased in guidelines for reopening. If he ignores the CDC again, and reopens too soon and infections and deaths soar again, perhaps the Feds should attempt to step in to force him to follow CDC guidlines..I think he will closely follow them this time. We all saw what happened when he didn’t.
International travel is very high in NewYork. Period
lindsey reese shutting down NY in itself is a thought process that can’t be done very easily! We have never been here so I can’t see any justification saying we should of done this or that, those statements are easily said from the sidelines. If we been through this type of situation as a nation in the past maybe then we could freely have judgments. But until your in the hot seat think from every aspect before making hasty statements. Personally our country as whole did a amazing job! Let’s be more thankful and show common curtesy, for all our elected officials and government. Lets be honest we wouldn’t have our great country without them!
@Jay coraldi I think Coumo is sincere and tries to do the right thing. But I can’t agree that waiting until 8,000 cases was “doing a great job”. He was advised to close by CDC when there were only 1,700 cases..That was a bad decision and led to more infections and death..So when I hear what a great job he’s done, it’s hard to believe…It is right to refute that proposition..That being said, I think he has learned how important closure is now. I watch all of his pressers. I do question his decision today to allow elective surgery given NY claim that they are very short on surgical gowns and low on other PPE’s. Should these limited supplies needed to protect medical workers be used for elective surgeries or be sent where they are needed to fight Corona? Overall though he seems like he is sincere and honest, that’s good…But to say he’s made great decisions is quite a stretch.
lindsey reese I never heard anything about that with CDC, I’m sure he was bombarded with different conflicting information as well as advise from all directions, with that being said he did a great job in choosing the paths he chose.
He did wait until 8,000 infections before reluctantly “pausing” days after CDC advise to do so, that was a tragic deadly error. But, he is sincere. He just didn’t understand how important closure is. He does now. He does learn. Interestingly today, he stated that 80% of patients on ventilators die..That is a high percentage..In some areas upto 50% survive…Are his numbers wrong or is NY an outlier due to other factors?

What did we do when we didn’t have enough bombs or ammo? We made it and if necessary we built it from the ground up and then made what ever the hell we needed! When someone says we can’t, look them in the eye and say oh yes we can! Americans can pretty much do whatever they set their minds to do, and in this case it’s for good so YES, “we can”! If our great grand parents and grand parents and parents could get things done then there is NO excuse why we can’t do the same, and even better! Remember who each of you are and where you came from and all the hard work your families did to get you here and stop saying “can’t”! Some stuff might prove difficult but we got brains and a willpower in this country and we can get things done when we want to! Working people do not have time for whining! Because we are busy working! Our Creator gave us intelligence and expects us to use it! So humanity use that gray matter and make your Heavenly Daddy proud!

Good sign of decreasing, but I don’t think reopen is any close. Stalls are still holding up alcohol and hand sanitizer for the workers and friends, we check online it is available in stall that means they were supplied with alcohol and hand sanitizer, but no matter how we are not able to see one on the shelf (we go there when the stall just open). we know no people working in there, we never able to get one. without proper sanitizer I don’t think the situation will get suddenly change.
Always talk about the test, the equipment, the hospital, but we keep on getting sick. no proper mask no readily hand sanitizer how can we prevent being sick. on the other hand, how about people are sick, how can they sanitize their hands when they cough in the car or in a stall? then they keep touching things……
If you want the States open again and want the business open again. The business owners won’t about to get any hand sanitizers or masks to protect their workers or prevent them to spread virus, then there will be another out break after 7-14 days.
If we get sick, we stay a home without treatment, when we become very sick then we go to the hospital and a big chance of not able to walking out again
