Stop preaching and act. Do put trust in yourself and not(only) in your God.
In1994 assault weapons were banned, and mass shootings decreased. In 2004, the assault rifle ban expired, since then, mass shootings have increased by more than 100%. That ban needs to be put back into place.
Other than mass carnage, and being the preferred weapon of mass shooters, assault rifles and high capacity magazines serve no other purpose. Because it seems that killing a lot of people in a short amount of time is all they’re good for, which makes sense, considering that that’s exactly what they are designed for. Allowing weapons like that to be sold to the public is the height of Irresponsibility, and we’ve got the body counts to prove it.
After Sandy Hook, where 20 babies were cut down with a weapon that was clearly designed for the battlefield, you would think that lawmakers would have finally woken-up. 20 babies in body bags should have been a watershed moment. But nope. Instead what happened, was that the NRA and right-wing extremists actually went after the parents whose babies were taken from them.

@Alex Ocasio-Gomez Did you watch the video? 01:54, the previous law was that if you were mentally ill, you could not buy a gun. The GOP changed the law so that people who have a mental illness, can now buy a gun again. Google it, it’s there to see!
The Clinton’s did there own investigation of the ban, no results! Didn’t make a difference! Democrats are trying to say different, but too stupid to realize there are videos and paperwork that contradict them!
Best reason for no gun control, the deep state in our government!
It should be a crime for anybody elected official to tell a lie, period end of story. Democrat or Republican you should be forced to tell the truth because of how important that truth is.

Thanks Rachel for reminding us of just how full of sh*t Trump and republicans truly are. I remember republicans passing that bill to allow the mentally ill to still be able to purchase guns. Republicans also blocked the bill that would prevent anyone on the terror watch list from purchasing a weapon.

I’m an avid target shooter. In other words, if you are not a paper target you’ve nothing to worry about. That said, I own zero assault weapons. Why? They are useless for anything but deer stampedes or for warfare. I’m joking about deer stampedes by the way…
@john doe Really? You use an assualt weapon in semi-auto most of the time and the full auto for the rare occasion where you need to suppress a position. I don’t see a lot of use for that in the hands of civilians.

I object to that definition of cynicism: cynicism is about doing bad acts motivating it with accusing the opposing side for hypothetically have done the same thing, 2. it requires lots of knowledge not dismissing the opposing side of just trying to gain a cheap advantage, you must know the details of what you wish to achieve, how the opposing side thinks, and how many compromizes you are willing to do.

In Australia we have the same mental illness issues, the same video games played but we do not have gun violence like America does. We dealt with that 20 years ago when THE LAST MASS MURDER WITH GUNS OCCURED. We changed the gun laws and mass shootings STOPPED. Trump excuses are lies.
There have been 27 mass murders with 8 of them being with guns since Port Arthur
@Dorian Shades of gray I know you want to discredit the idea of gun control. It is a nonsense argument where the only response seems to be, “Well you didn’t stop *all* mass murders, or *all* gun violence, so there!” As if the laws had to be perfect to be worthwhile. By the way, most of those have been sadly murder suicides of family members. Terrible tragedies indeed. And those statistics are still *tiny* in comparison to American statistics on gun violence, so I don’t know what your point is. @sandy dix is right: Gun control works.

I do, I doubt you do, and I also know that the incident at Port Arthur was orchestrated to implement the legislation to remove certain guns, there is still gun violence here in Australia, and we have only had one major mass public shooting, the one they orchestrated for a motive the public were naive about. Australia doesn’t have a constitution that gives you the right to be armed, nor are they raised with that understanding of freedom to fight against a tyrannical government like you have there in the US via your constitution.
People are still shooting people here .. the change in gun laws didn’t change that.
Your problem is very different, and it certainly isn’t what your being told it is. But categorically it isn’t because of the gun, but for you to understand that, you would need to see things from a whole new perspective, which sadly I doubt you even wish to.
Americans don’t have a monopoly on mental illness, but in the OECD they have a monopoly on easy access to mental healthcare.
