Six people are dead, including a suspected gunman, and a seventh person suffered major injuries in what police are calling a "horrendous" condo shooting in Ontario on Sunday night.

About 7:20 p.m., police responded to a report of an active shooter who had shot several people at a building in Vaughan, a city just north of Toronto, according to a York Regional Police news release.

"When police arrived, an interaction occurred between the officers and a male subject and the subject was shot," police wrote in the release. The male, who police identified as the shooting suspect, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. At the scene, officers found a “horrendous scene where numerous victims were deceased,” police Chief Jim MacSween said.

    1. While you’re praying, perhaps consider that government sanctioned suicide is now the leading cause of death in Canada.. and they’re aiming to extend the program to minors, without parental consent.

    1. @David (leftist gun guy) Right wing terrorism is arguable one of the least significant factors in gun violence. If you could comprehend basic crime stats, you’d see why….

    2. @Eric w Why do American liberals have such a hard time realizing that Canada is hardly the utopian society they seem to think it is, just because they do *some* things better than the U.S, does not mean that they have done anything significant to redress their very real history of colonialism or *institutional racism* or the injustices it breeds, and anyone who’s spend any time on the internet knows that at least half of the online thought leaders of the “American” far-right are *Canadian* expats like Steven Crowder, Gavin McInnis, Jordan Peterson, Lauren Southern just to name a few, and even the proud boys are a Canadian export for Christ sake, and the Canadian government never stopped stealing indigenous children from their families (the foster care system) by the way.

    3. @fridaythe13thpartx  there are many types of guns banned in Canada, educate yourself.
      Regardless, my statement stands.

  1. gun ban didn’t work for this gunman, and it sure didn’t help the 4 innocent victims protect themselves or give themselves a fighting chance to survive

    1. @Eric Macchiaroli I’m American. I’m just proving a point. All anti-gunners bring up Australia as an example of what would stop mass shootings. I’m saying that a buyback and confiscation wouldn’t work.

  2. Well, Castrudeau, now what? How are you going to spin this one? We’re waiting…
Good on the police for taking the gunman out quickly, and my condolences to the families and friends of the senselessly slain. :bouquet:

    1. Operation fast and furious? Or….. Maybe gun control laws don’t work because criminals are going to criminal?

    2. Criminals do what criminals do… Law abiding citizens are fish in a barrel when guns are taken from law abiding citizens…

  3. This may be a great benefit to us living in the US, seeing as the Canadian government is Hell bent on disarming it’s citizens I expect a great migration of our criminal element to more Liberal hunting grounds.

    1. @Melanin Magdalene How would any guns laws have prevented them? You do know that only criminals do these shootings right, the law abiding citizens try and stop criminals. Common sense eludes you huh?

    2. @A C Well thats a cool thought, but we sure are letting them destroy us a little at a time, Border sucks, inflation sucks, crime is at an all time high, they are teaching kids perverted stuff. I think people will just stand back and watch it all go to crap.

    1. @David (leftist gun guy) well I mean that’s obvious but look at operation fast and furious who’s to say it wasn’t something like that I better edit this real quick I’m not saying that it was something like that I’m just saying we don’t know we don’t know if the gun came from the US what we do know is five people are dead and criminals will criminal

    2. 😂😂😂 they have a ban on most weapons might want to do just a little research before running off with your liberal talking points 🙄

    3. @AntithesisDCLXVI surprised how many heads this went over. I guess I shouldn’t be at this point but sheesh.

  4. Condolences to the victims and their loved ones.

Criminals, by definition, do not obey the law. Gun bans and restrictions will not stop evil men, they will only weaken the good men.

  5. Well, there’s no 2nd Amendment in Canada and guns are very restricted, so what went wrong?
It’s a societal problem and it has NOTHING to do with guns themselves. Let’s start addressing THAT.
