Hayes: U.S. Troops Are Finally Out Of Afghanistan—And It’s Remarkable

“The actual evacuation of all U.S. troops has finally happened. And while there is very little joy to find in any of this long painful story, the actual end of this war is a remarkable thing,” says Chris Hayes.

  1. History shows that the end of every war, sows the seeds of the next war, because victories and peace settlements are rarely fair and balanced for both sides. And long and drawn out wars have no winners, only common losers.

    1. @Eric 75% of the Afghan population live in rural villagers. They don’t have running water or electricity or much money.

    2. America is great at winning every single battle and even better at losing the war! It is pretty clear that the stabilization of liberty completely depends on the peoples collective philosophy/morals! I have read a great deal of the founding fathers notes and letters concerning constitutional interpretation and regarding regulations & safety” well lets just say they were not huge fans! They all seemed to suggest that the people if united under only certain morals and values would need less regulation or laws” while a society who disregards these institutions will beome corrupted therfore more laws and Regulations would be necessary and would eventually consume our unity and individual liberty!

    3. @Eric I could see Afganistan going the way of Germany and Japan some day.The Taliban might even decide to join NATO.I think what we are seeing is a new Taliban that seems willing to join partnerships with the global community.I would even go out on a limb and say they could possibly join The Paris Climate Accords.Afganistan’s terrain is viable for green energy solutions.Afganistan has the potential of generating over 300,000 MW!They currently import most of their power from neighboring countries such as Uzbekistan,Iran,Turkmenistan and so on.The Taliban could possibly turn Kabal into the next Dubai by marketing clean wind energy. They sky is now the limit for Afganistan’s new government. And Joe Biden could go down in history as the man who made it all possible!

  2. Sept. 11, 2001 ~~ The feelings and perceptions of threat that led to war in Afghanistan have faded, and all that is left are the consequences of that decision, the costs in lives and money, the inevitably mixed and uncertain results, and the unanswerable question: Was it all worth it?

    1. Btw Eliaski changing the word Democrats to anything else is from the Putin old trolls handbook! I suggest you contact Putin for the latest handbook to avoid IMMEDIATE REMOVAL

    2. @Brian Nave He don’t have much time. Stray dog in any nation are putdown. And the afghan people are rather poor so don’t have much in terms of spare food to adopt a family pet… assuming their version of islam permits dogs.

    3. @Rob J Problem was the Taliban were never defeated. They hug on relentlessly. At no time did they control less than 30% of Afghanistan. It is like saying the US should have left Vietnam the moment it defeated the Viet Cong.. which it never did.

    4. In mentioning how the threats and perceptions “have faded” you point out a very big problem. Most young American adults today have no idea about what happened on 11 Sept 2001. NONE! They also couldn’t tell you anything about the horrific brutality and human genocide committed in the name of Socialism. NONE!

  3. And yet, we are leaving the taliban are back in control… I’m a life long democrat. – But WTF… We gave these people hope. Now we’ve left them.. – I was and still am against us sticking our noses in other countries affairs. But this is our mess…

    1. @Mastodon1976 Tell that to Germany and Japan. Still there since the end of WW2. Even South Korea… still there since the 1950s.

    1. @BlaQ Bay17 AWWW poor baby, those crocodile tears must have been hard to work up. Anyways POW/MIA pay respect.

  4. *We were there, we new about the withdrawal. It is HOW we left and failed to secure the Military equipment, Americans and Afghan Allies alike. Spineless Administration. Carry on.* 🇺🇲🇬🇧

    1. Over 60 planes loads of equipment was sent home and tons was destroyed. And it’s ‘KNEW” not…NEW. Learn to spell and use proper English.

    1. NOT TRUE……YOU ARE A LIAR. There are about 100-200 Americans left in Afghanistan and that is by THEIR CHOICE of refusing to leave. They have dual-citizenship with family ties in the country. The gear the Taliban have obtained isn’t worth the $80 billion or more being claimed this week by social media users and political figures including Sen. Marsha Blackburn, Rep. Lauren Boebert and former President Donald Trump.

While the U.S. spent $83 billion to develop and sustain Afghan security forces since 2001, most of it did not go toward equipment. Nor will the Taliban be able to use every piece of American gear that was supplied to Afghanistan over two decades. In fact, only about $18 billion of that sum went toward equipping Afghan forces between 2002 and 2018, a June 2019 SIGAR report showed.

    1. @Truth91 Trump’s plan was a strict conditional release with severe consequences, and the Taliban knew those consequences were not just empty threats. Beijing Biden armed terrorists with $90 billion of weapons and equipment. None of this would have happened under a Trump administration. But yeah, keep on blaming Trump while ignoring the stranded American citizens who will probably be killed or used as hostages. Unbelievable.

    2. @Truth91 Khairullah Khairkhwa was released from the Guantanamo Bay prison along with four other Taliban prisoners by former US President Barack Obama. The ‘Gitmo Five’ were labelled “hardest of the hardcore” by US intelligence officials who urged Obama to reconsider his decision.

  5. Did we get our billions of dollars in top secret military equipment back from the Taliban? If not they now have more attack helicopters then Australia

    1. @smkh They left that equipment there for the TRAINED Afghan army. Those that defect to the Taliban will train others. For some reason you got it in your head that the Taliban has stone age weapons. You should have faced them in battle.

    2. @over easy their future needs will not be supplied by the west, leaving China to step in. They will be flying Chinese equipment soon enough.

    3. @over easy You don’t know WTF you are talking about. Over 60 plane loads of equipment was flown home and tons was destroyed. THAT IS FACT from “Stars and Stripes”

    1. Yeah. Should have hired competent people like Trump did.
Oh, wait. They couldn’t. Trump’s people are all in jail now…

  6. The wars in the middle-east has been going on for centuries. I honestly don’t think another 20 years would really make an difference…

The Soviet–Afghan War started December 24, 1979 to February 15, 1989. They had no success either.

    1. Both the taliban and democrats are celebrating the end of the war and calling it a success. The rest of the world is mocking democrats and calling the withdrawal an absolute failure

  7. Biden is pushing to put taxes on medications. If you take meds, expect to pay more. Thanks again, Joe.

    1. Both the taliban and democrats are celebrating the end of the war and calling it a success. The rest of the world is mocking democrats and calling the withdrawal an absolute failure

    2. @parker smith the withdrawal could have been much worse. It actually went fairly well. The world is definitely not mocking democrats.

    3. @parker smith Thank Trump for all this. It was his “peace deal” that set it up. The Taliban played him like a fiddle, just like Kim, Erdogan. the Saudis, Putin, etc. before them. For nearly a year since the initial agreement was signed on Feb. 29, 2020, the Taliban have been breaking one promise after another, while Trump looked the other way.

    4. @parker smith You must have missed the photo op that Trump and Pompeo had after they surrendered to the Talban. It was Trump who brokered the bad deal and gave the Taliban everything they wanted with getting NOTHING in return. It was Trump who released 5000 Taliban prisoners and brought home 15,000 troops only leaving 2500 BEFORE ever bringing one American home. He dumped his entire mess on Biden when he LOST the election. You don’t have a clue to WTF you’re talking about.

    1. Having the guts to finally END this useless war totally disregarding the negative press from Fox and people like you is doing a great job as president. Being able to spend all that money at home instead of someplace else will matter to Americans.

    2. @Suzanne That’s a strawman argument. You have a very myopic view of this situation, and it’s due to your extreme bias.

    3. @Suzanne Beijing Biden is the worst president in American history. Innocent people were killed and stranded due to his mismanagement of this evacuation. The Taliban is now better armed then most countries. Just wait until the unvetted terrorists posing as refugees begin their terror campaign on US soil.

    4. @Suzanne the guy can barely read, write, walk or talk and you voted for him just because orange man bad. I’m just saying that these are some historic levels of screwing up here. This isn’t a game. The guy is 9 decades old.

    1. Both the taliban and democrats are celebrating the end of the war and calling it a success. The rest of the world is mocking democrats and calling the withdrawal an absolute failure

    2. @parker smith its funny because trump and republicans are the ones who started the withdrawal and made it a process that could not be haulted.

    1. Please look up the Comment sections, you will notice that many MAGA Cult members don’t know the difference between Trader and Traitor…!!!…LOL..They often say stuff like” he is a trader” put him in jail…So, if you stick with Trader, the MAGA Cult may understand what you are talking about….!!!

    2. @Pranav Agrawal If you would like to view the MAGA Cult repeatedly using “Trader” to mean “Traitor”, as a typo, it is OK with me…!!!
