What the western media doesn’t tell you is that despite a mere 3,000 – 5,000 people protesting and being arrested, nearly 200,000 men have already been mobilized and sent to training facilities. Kicking and screaming and protesting will stop nothing. What’s coming is coming and those 300,000 activated reservists will be deployed come hell or high water. Holding up a sign, and chanting won’t stop that.

@jonsd fonnsw Good idea, but while you’re there, teach the Afghans not to allow their country to be used as a refuge, nor a base for terrorists to attack other countries. Tell the Iraquis not to invade other countries because they want their oil. Libya was also a sponsor of state terrorism and we went in to protect the rebels trying to put an end to Muammar al-Qaddafi’s terrorism. As far as Vietnam goes, any deaths to South Vietnamese were collateral damage. The North Vietnamese were trying to overthrow the South. We weren’t able to prevent the takeover, but the cause was just. Stop all of your corrupt, fascist, empire building, enslaving and genocidal crimes against other peoples and there won’t be a need to pray for them.
Honestly you can’t help but applaud this, it’s not just smart, its an incredibly humane act of mercy by Zelenskyy and Ukraine.

If I were a Russian conscript sent to fight in Ukraine, I would be looking for the first opportunity to surrender. Sounds like a much better deal than being blown to pieces.
You live in a fantasy world. Most of these men will fight because Putin is trying to overthrow the hold the west has on the world. Putin wants to change the balance of power. I’m neutral both Putin and Zelensky are pos in my book. NATO caused this they agreed not to expand east yet pressured Ukraine to join NATO. Putin warned them. NATO is just as guilty as Putin in my book they all have blood on their hands.

Brilliant move on Zelenski ‘s part. By welcoming the additional people from Russia that have been mobilized. He is giving these men and women a way out. No doubt, many will take him up on it because they didn’t want to do this in the first place and they want hope to see their families again. Big win for Zelenski, big loss for Putin. That is an excellent strategy of Zelensky. He should also pardon all citizens, who accepted help from Russian soldiers or supported them in some way. They helped the Russian soldiers, to behave in a human way.
As an Iranian it’s very heartwarming to see autocratics like Russia and Iran losing very fast. Russia losing Ukraine war and its domestic supporters. The country appears incompetent and Ukraine shown strength and appears powerful with great leadership . On the other hand we Iranians are protesting against our shitty regime and the government is losing its momentum and in our eyes it has became weak and defeatable.

I have a Ukrainian friend. She has family in both Ukraine and Russia. She has Ukrainian family fighting, and Russian family fighting.
It’s so sick and wrong! She is devastated by this whole situation.

I was #8 (1-365) during the Vietnam War draft. It is a Frightening event for a 19 yo who has no idea what he’s fighting for. As a Mexican American with parents who were farmworkers and hardly knew English, I had no chance to avoid it.Ten days ofter graduation from HS I was at Fort Ord starting basic training. As any draft in any country, it is the poor and the minority groups who will suffer the brunt of the war. In our community it was that if you were drafted it was, “infanteria y luego Vietnam”…(infantry then Vietnam). Few Americans have experienced what it’s like to get drafted. In a personal note, it was the scaring month of my life, leading up finally reporting to the Greyhound Bus Depot at 6 am.
I still remember as had happened yesterday, if you can imagine in a bus all day as it stopped at different towns and heading south to Fort Ord. NOT A SINGLE WORD WAS SPOKEN IN 8 HOURS. I guy who I had played a couple of year of varsity foodball with but I was pissed off at him because he had a big yellow envelope with medical expats and paperwork. I had no wish to speak to him about anything………..OH..I did end euphorias being trained as a combat medic but thank God did not go to Nam.
My grandpa went to Korea and he got shrapnel in his head and looked for dog tags
I cannot imagine what you went thru. All of America should be sorry for what they did to regular people and I’m so glad to hear that not everyone who was drafted was sent to their death. Mad respect for the military but it takes a certain kind of person to do that job.
