Here’s why Pete Buttigieg wants to be transportation secretary

Why would Pete Buttigieg, who came from nowhere to become a top-tier candidate in the 2020 presidential race, agree to be the transportation secretary in the now-forming administration of President-elect Joe Biden? In this episode of The Point, Chris Cillizza explains why the former South Bend mayor would get a HUGE political boost from the Cabinet job.

    1. @John Triplett I have friends by you. They fill me in. I hope we have a civil war. Just saying sick of people Robbing and looting. And destroying family-owned businesses.

  1. High speed rail, electric cars, cleaner planes, and efficient infrastructure…….that would be Europe.

    1. Want to be like Europe: making owning cars so difficult in cities just like New York. You don’t need a car to get to HSR, subway, and buses. Buses are not for losers. As Obama Energy secretary, Steve Chu, said leave your in garage in the weekday. What he meant was take public transportation yo work. Drive your cars to national parks.
These will never work in USA.Trump supporters n car industry will opposr. Thsts give. The biggest obstacles come from people like you n thumb down. The American support train system n destroyed bus system. Thsts ok, you guys can drive to train stations. The non car driver continue to suffer.
For past 25 years, LA has been building rail n cut bus service. Non car drivers just have walk more, catch more infrequent buses n suffer more.
People disagree. Then why people mentioned Europe n Asia. In Japan, you don’t even need a car to travel to many rural areas. Even in Vancouver, you can take public transportation easily to nearby redort.
In LA, you nee+ cars to the trsin station. Sadly, LA is one of the best pub transportation after New York Chicago Boston DC San Francisco.
Thank you trsin supporters you have slept with oil n car industry, so American have train n still nee+ cars in mahor citied

    2. @Matt 88 A small country that was still in a monarchy and pre-industrial infrastructure when the US was already in the midst of the industrial revolution. It’s even more embarrassing that they have more advanced infrastructure when we had decades of technological advantage.

    1. All the government contracts will be given to contractors that have ties with Pete or someone else in the administration. In return those contractors repay them when they donate to Pete’s and the others political campaigns. Plus the contracts will pay the contractors far more than reasonable rates, a big money laundering exchange at the expense of the tax payers.

  2. I initially thought he’d be better in communications but he can sort out our failing infrastructure and set himself up for 2024 – I’d vote for that guy.. y’all – his book ‘trust’ is amazing read it listen to it just get into it

  3. My 11yo beats me at TtR too but it’s because if I block him he says “no fair” and his mom gives me a dirty look so I buy something else.

    1. @Michael Ortt
90 pounds on their family boat in 2014 for example?

How is it that he has a TS clearance…. he is in almost as many violations as trump.

    2. foreign election interference from china . [with the help of the communist democrats in the pocket of china ] linwood and ex military call for trump to declare martial law . lock up the traitors , we will not allow the theft of our elections ever again .https://youtu.be/Sa6aI_Pnvaw

    1. @Roman TRUER WORDS HAVE NEVER BEEN SPOKEN! The sooner we toss Amtrak into the rubbish barrel, the better! It’s time to rip up every single last mile of train track in this country and pave the land those tracks sit on so we can instead use it to drive our cars. WE NEED MORE PAVED ROADS – LOTS OF THEM.

    2. @Jos Callinet you do know those train tracks I a major part of America’s logistics. 🤦‍♂️ people like you always spew scripts you saw online without it ever thinking.

    1. Creepy Dementia Joe is filling his cabinet with a lot of halfwits. This ship will sink fast. At least Eric”The Chinese Spy that Shagged Me” Swalwell hasn’t been appointed. Yet.

  4. Within 3 weeks, Pete will have read and absorbed every piece of modern literature referring to transportation.

    1. @Tim Cowan You’ve got your priorities all messed up. It’s very clear now that you were projecting by your response.

    2. @Marco Melendez reeeee! 5“A woman must not put on men’s clothing, and a man must not wear women’s clothing. Anyone who does this is detestable in the sight of the LORD your God.

    3. @Marco Melendez Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
and before you were born I consecrated you; you will not murder . 6“If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea. 7Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to stumble! Such things must come, but woe to the person through whom they come!

    4. @Marco Melendez Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable.

    1. Kammy is either going to come up to speed very fast or she is going to be passed by by younger, ambitious, brilliant Democrats like Pete.

    1. On top of that, we have a car culture because everything is so far away. It is a little annoying that If I want to go from SF to LA I would have to take a plane or drive for 6 hours. Or even to go from my town to SF would be a 1-hour drive.

    2. @Kristen Rodriguez Whether you take a bus or fly from SF to LA, or vice-versa, you need a car at your destination, so you might as well drive YOUR OWN CAR, unless your trip is bought and paid for by your employer as a BUSINESS EXPENSE, in which case you fly and rent a car at your destination airport. THIS is the reason why trains are unnecessary. We have THE BEST TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM IN THE WORLD, BAR NONE. Trains play no role in this system, so they have been forgotten.

    3. @Jos Callinet At least think before you post a comment because I’m not sure you know what trains are. They are those electrified things that don’t spew out carbondioxide.

    4. @Jos Callinet We definitely don’t have the world’s best transportation system. Our infrastructure is largely crumbling and not well maintained. Space wise, cars are much less efficient than other forms of transportation. Also needing a car in your final destination isn’t always true, there are places in the US where you can go without, Seattle, Boston, NYC, San Fran. Europe has built itself in a way that you don’t need a car in most major cities. And frankly, it’s sad and behind the times that in most US cities, you need a car
