  1. America has 2,000,000 men & some women incarcerated at any given moment. Actually it has the highest incarceration rate in the world. So much for being a free democracy. These places are breeding grounds for crime & the vast majority of people incarcerated come out worst. Rehabilitation is a joke.

  2. I’ll never understand how you can discuss “prison reform” or problems surrounding the court system (real or imagined), particularly regarding incarceration vis-a-vis race, without discussing crime rates vis-a-vis race.

  3. Trump got justice reform law going and was awarded for it with The First Step Act. I guess the media missed it while they were trying to slander and defame him.

  4. *There are 11 private prisons in contract with the Bureau of Prisons, with most housing immigrants who have been convicted of crimes. Of those, nine are operated by CoreCivic and GEO Group, who gave $250,000 and $475,000 to Trump’s campaign and inauguration, respectively.*

  5. Trump’s first full month in office, become clear that the new administration would discontinue Obama’s efforts to shrink the size of the US prison population. *One of Jeff Sessions’ first acts as attorney general was to undo the DoJ directive phasing out private prisons.* That month the two companies each reached two-year stock highs.

*The tax bill gift to private prison investors mirrors the cosy relationship Trump has had with the industry overall.* After years elsewhere, in 2017 the Geo Group hosted its annual leadership conference at the Trump National Doral golf club in Miami. The company also gave nearly half a million dollars to Trump through his inauguration committee and Super Pacs. Shortly thereafter, it secured the administration’s first contract for an immigration detention center, a deal potentially worth millions.

    1. You mean Senator Kamala Harris, Senator Cory Booker and Tom Steyer _didn’t_ persuade you with their empty words and obvious hypocrisy? Strange.

  6. Wow we have the 2 candidates of color trying to help people of color. Wake up where are the old people that are being pushed on us

  7. who just got award for criminal justice reform omg yes yes yes TRUMP kammy admits smoking pot how many did she lock up for doing what she does sad
