Husband of mass killing victim spoke to wife moments before her death

Nick Beaton spoke with CTV News' Chief Anchor and Senior Editor Lisa LaFlamme about the life and career of his wife, Kristen, who was a victim of the mass killing in Nova Scotia.

Beaton said his wife was "an amazing mother" who was on her way to work before she was killed, and that the couple was expecting another child but did not get a chance to share the news with family and friends before Kristen's death.

  1. Provincial alerts should have gone out. We get amber alerts and Covid Alerts and severe storm alerts and so on but they did not put an alert in place for this? Omg. Someone should be held accountable for this.
    This is heartbreaking 💔beyond measure.
I am so glad that killer is dead.

    1. I guess police/rcmp are not brainstorming..they are just waiting for their salary..reactive not proactive!

    2. Nunovia Gottdamnedbizzness sadly that will never happen as they all got blood on their hands and Cops are notorious for lying and covering the asses of their own kind!

    3. Charlie Hunt hey Charlie ! You are onto something — the lack of warning was deliberate

I gently caution you to go slow on judging the shooter – I suggest we do not have all the facts and am always suspicious when the government is involved

  2. Nick I’m very sorry for your loss of your wife I lost my wife to cancer two years ago but she was murdered too I know what you are going through

  3. This is the question how he can travel from town to town without been noticed ? 10 hours from the first incident ?

    1. Dressed as a police officer and switched vehicles multiple times. As it was rural, there weren’t a whole lot of eye witnesses I guess. Senseless. RCMP really should have gotten the alert sounded 🙁

    2. Because the RCMP are inept and incompetent – but give them all your guns and theyll protect you

    3. NikiBoBicki what proves those news reporters comments that he switched vehicles is a lie is that they put a security camera video saying he was still in the original police cruiser at 10:30 am!

  4. So many flaws in our system = so many questions. What a shame for this. I’m so sorry for this man’s loss, my condolonces, be strong and carry on and live your life in her honour. My words of comfort when confronted with death: death is not the opposite of life, it’s the opposite of birth.

    1. rcmp 100% shood have done a amber alert it may have saved just 1 life shame on rcmp was a bad call on there behaft

    2. @Jon Min We have one, the Emergency Alert system, that’s what the OP meant…it’s the same as an Amber alert but for all other emerg

  5. I dont have the words but if you’re reading this I wish you all the strength in the world dealing with this awful situation.

  6. This is a tragedy on a grand scale. My prayers to the family and friends of the victims.
Now, what have we learned about evil ?

  7. Where was the emergency alert? I really don’t think it would have mattered if the murderer got the alerts too. I’m so sorry for all the senseless loss which could have been prevented with an emergency alert. I know how tight maritimers are and they’re all feeling it.

  8. I am in FULL SUPPORT of Kristen’s Husband. Very well said and I am infuriated as well.
My deepest condolences to you and your family and all families who lost their loves ones. 💙❤💙

  9. So proud of you Nick for speaking up in honour of Kristen and calling out Trudeau about PPE. I hope he acts like a leader for once and gives you a direct answer, it’s the VERY LEAST he can do! Sending love, peace, strength and support your way.

  10. My heart goes out to you and all who suffered the ultimate loss in this senseless tragedy.
May you all somehow find a place of peace and comfort in this insanity.💕

  11. We need a shooter alert system like an Amber Alert. Lets name it after her. Call it a Kristen alert. She was out helping others. She has earned the honor.

  12. The husband is in SHOCK. He hasn’t processed this yet. He’s still talking about his wife and taking on her PPE cause — as if she’s still alive. The pain will be unbearable when it hits him. I hope he can come out from the other side of this one day. I hope his little son will give him the will to overcome this.
