Not true. You been asleep? Things got a lot better after the first shutdown. With the coming of of warmer weather, it was known the rate of spread would decline and it did. Things did get better. However, it was also expected that as the weather got colder after summer, the rate of spread would increase and it has. Another shutdown was needed to get it under control but it didn’t come and the spread is now out of control. Only another shutdown – for a longer period – could bring it back under control. This is not rocket science. The virus spreads through humans. If humans are restricted (either of their own volition or by enforced restriction) in their movement, the spread of the virus is restricted. Believe it or not, it’s as simple as that!

@Lalith de Alwis you speak garbage, the death rate continues to drop and all you talk about is the spread rate. Infections don’t matter since they are primarily in the age groups with little to no chance of getting serious symptoms.
@Lalith de Alwis it is not out of control. All purported goals of lockdown happened two days before the first 14 day lockdown. The scientific consensus was clear in May that the government response was completely out of touch with the risk of this virus. The data shows that we should have been progressively reopening on April first and there has been no reason to shut down since. We need to stop the misinformation and get back to work. It’s all there at statscan. Take off your mask and get outside with your friends

@Lalith de Alwis 2.5% of COVID cases arising out of more than 5,000 documented outbreaks were from food/drink/retail establishments. That’s according to the federal government’s own data. You are more likely to contract the virus from an outbreak at work or in a healthcare setting.
