Illinois governor on FEMA supply: It’s like the wild west out here

Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker tells CNN's Jake Tapper that though it has gotten better in the last week, it is "like the wild west" trying to compete with other states and countries for obtaining supplies from FEMA to fight the coronavirus pandemic.

  1. Let the stock buybacks begin. Hey CEO, it’s bonus time.

I sure wish I sold golden parachutes right about now.

    1. In modern developed countries how much does anyone really need to live off comfortably? $100K – $250K? – CEO’s, Entertainers, Athletes, Crooked Wall St. Investors making over 5 Million to 50 Million per year. Who needs to make this kind of income to live a comfortable living? How about keep letting these thugs make all these millions but then TAX them a good 70% off their earnings and put that 70% TAX going back to benefit the Middle Class citizen, the one that actually creates the market that permits these idiots to earn such crazy millions.

  2. It’s sickening that these companies are making the states bid on this equipment that they desperately need. People that profit off of things like this are trash

    1. @Phillip S it’s not about making a profit you dolt. It’s about charging someone seven times your normal cost because you know you can get away with it because there’s people that really need it. This is a serious situation and not normal times. I do not have a problem with a company making a profit that’s how they live what to do with they are doing is Despicable and people are dying that don’t need to be

    2. We were light years ahead of the game with the Obama administration’s CDC.
Trump dismantled that, now states meaning US Americans suffering badly.
Listen to this clown for Governor try to explain his way out of this mess, HE CAN’T!!!

    1. People on this thread hoping for things to get worse?! So you want the boat you, your family and friends are on to sink? If that’s the case, that’s pretty messed up. So either you all were that horrible before or the propaganda being pushed by the press has really taken its toll on people’s common sense and morality.

    2. @Izzywizzy a mass culling of the old and the weak to cause an economic boom afterwards? Why not? More jobs to go around, more housing to go around, more financial help to go around

    3. Peter Solar channel don’t get your panties in a bunch….these things slow up…..get your stupid brain educated on previous virus outbreaks….doom and gloom only shows your ignorance. Whatever

  3. Where’s all these Billionaire’s? Are they hiding underneath their huge piles of cash right about now?

    1. @Eric Thompson there are 300 million Americans. That means he could have given each 1.50$
      Geez not 10k.

    2. Alot of those companies are working on cures, testing kits and doing whatever they can to help. Only the actors and actresses and wealthy politicians are doing nothing.

    1. Woo Cain no joke, I hope people don’t forget this. And just saying are we give up the right to assemble? For Covid 19 that’s been here since September 2019. What other rights are we willing to give up for public safety , freedom of speech!

  4. I keep hearing government officials say they’re going to put money in our pockets… For the millions who lost her job three weeks ago where the f*** is it

    1. @L B some people live paycheck to paycheck and do not have an opportunity to save anything.(some people say get a better job sometimes that’s hard to do)

    2. @Ryan Wells blame china.blame democrats.blame obama. Blame your fucking cult leader you dumb sheep. Do you know what a leader is? Trump certainly doesn’t fit the definition. Is ignorance bliss, Ryan? Tell me. You would know.

    3. @Victor Castillo what? I don’t speak cult member. Sorry.
The virus originated in China dumbfuck. They are not responsible for Trumps inadequate response. You need to become an organ donor so that your life isn’t a total waste

    4. @Ryan Wells PELOSIE HAS ABORTION CRAP IN THAT BILL IS WHAT IS HOLDING IT UP. THIS ISN’T ABOUT KILLING BABIES NANNY IT IS ABOUT KILLING THE WHOLE POPULATION. NOW TAKE THAT ABORTION CRAP OUT AND DEAL WITH THE PANDEMIC! DO YOUR JOB AS YOU ALWAYS PHONEY SAY (FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE) PASS THE BILL!

    5. @Bad Bird What government does best is take it out of your pocket. This bailout will be no different. They’ll put it one pocket and take it from another.

  5. Fifty years ago we landed a man on the moon and safely returned him back to earth. Now we can’t even supply enough PPEs for our health care professionals.

    1. @BC Bob it was a table top experiment staged by Gates foundation and Hopkins University
There are 5 parts video, watch first.

    2. @Damonta Robinson Several space agencies from around the world have sent multiple spacecraft to the Moon and other planets. Are you slow?

    3. @Novus Ordo Seclorum Can you guess how we KNOW for a fact that Apollo spacecraft landed on the Moon 6 times? I can….

    4. @Damonta Robinson Apollo spacecraft landed on the Moon six times and we have 100% proof. You probably aren`t intelligent enough to figure out what that proof is…..LOL!

    5. @Tom Jones Really..hmm let me guess its on a screen right? showing from a box in your living room or a flat screen?

  6. Gov. Pritzker doesn’t need the $1200, he is born a billionaire, many ordinary people like me welcome the check. We need it to pay living expenses.

  7. Jave business owners really stepped up. I work at a factory that builds mowers. Instead of letting us work less or follow bettee isolating practices they inforced mandatory overtime this week and next cause you know all those pwople who are gonna die if they dont get there mowers

    1. @Kenneth Johnson it may not be as efficient as a centralized warehouse, but it does lead to quicker dissemination of supplies and guarantees each state has resources. “Efficiency” is what got us into this whole mess in the first place.

    2. @Justin Okraski many medical supplies have expiration dates, which means they would have to be constantly replaced upon that date. Stockpiling these items would be prohibitly expensive, if done state by state. My suggestion is that, at the federal level, in a national emergency, the production and manufacturing of such critical supplies, be controlled by logistical command center, that would insure the production and delivery of such goods as needed. With the necessary plans, in place, to anticipate the need and fullfill it. This is something that corporations and the military do daily. Trump should have knowledge of basic logistics, being a businessman and a very stable genius. Surely others around him could have anticipated the need also, Question is, Why the fail? With him calling it, The China virus, what was his mindset when he first became aware of it? One that blinded him to the nature of the threat, is one possibility.

    3. Go make a mask out of an ac hepa filter. It can catch .03 microns and is almost the same material. What happened to independant American spirit? Everybody cries for gov these days.
Also plenty of military gas mask cartridges online and at military surplus.

    4. @cj p what about a ventilator? They collect taxes to build weapons of war, to kill. How about using some of it, to saves lives.

    1. After more decades than I will admit, I have always taken care of myself. However I also think it is my duty to assist those people who are less well off. I have been helping those Red States to draw all of their benefits through my tax for over half a century.
There are times when people cannot take care of themselves, we have made it the case with the evolution of the giant corporations who benefit from the country but give little back in return.
Trump is talking no sense right now, Biden has gone into hiding, leaving Bernie as the source of common sense that the nation needs.

    2. As best you can, yes. But many are not in a position to do so, and they need our help. We really are all in this together, and it is imperative we set at least a fair amount of our selfishness aside and do what we can to help each other. Call it socialism if you like, call it whatever the hell you please… but frankly, it is pro-survival to aid each other wherever possible. It ups the odds on our species (and, incidentally, our country) surviving through crises such as this. Doing otherwise simply leaves us more vulnerable and less likely to get to the other side safely.

    3. wtnf 26 don’t you get tired of posting angry messages. Go spend time with ur family. Do something positive

    4. People do take care of themselves. When will corporations pay for themselves. Socialism for corporations and you average workers aren’t doing enough.

  8. If we hadn’t shipped the majority of our manufacturing to China in the last few decades, we would be able to meet the needs of the medical community.

    1. Asswipes like slick willie, Al mcmansion gore, etc. that pushed this free (ship our factories and jobs to China) trade bs should be strung up and left to hang. Soon they will have the blood of millions of Americans on their hands.

    2. @Morris Whitaker They were replaced by automation, mostly. There isn’t a golden jar of jobs you can bring back. They are gone.

    1. Whitsoxrule1 – Yep. Because people are willing to illegally enter different countries.

Name a country that is greater than the US. Ill wait.

  9. So how come there are soldiers rolling down the streets of small town IL in armored Humvees carrying rifles? Do Humvees and rifles treat coronavirus now?

    1. @Whitsoxrule1 fake news? So the guy I work with who called up the office to tell us about that was just watching fake news and not looking out his window?

    2. I’m in a small town in illinois, and there’s nothing on the roads, possibly because we’re smarter than you and are staying inside. There may be a bunch of guardsman somewhere on the way to set up a hospital, with supplies, and since idiots have been stealing masks and gloves from hospitals, that would require rifles since we have stupidly let every inbred yahoo in the nation be armed as well. So the inbred yahoos who are hoarding toilet paper and stealing crucial medical supplies have guns. Why shouldn’t the decent people want our guardsman armed against these useless idiots?

    3. @Wendy’s Garden soldiers are not police, they aren’t there to chase down hoarders or thieves. The soldiers are there for one reason and one reason only, to maintain the power and control of the politicians by whatever means necessary. Soldiers don’t care about hoarders, they care about people like you keeping your head down and obeying whatever decrees your fat billionaire govenor gives you.

    1. Coldern Ice tell that to Trump. He is the idiot that doesn’t understand about commonwealth states.

    2. It was proven 6 months ago that all the supplies America sent were in storage units. Sad to think but the leader of Puerto Rico are corrupt and horrible and didnt properly distribute the aid they recieved. Do some research and see for yourself. Plus to use this situation where 10k people have died all over the globe and compare it to a small island doesn’t work.

    3. @mike yeghiayan this awful response to disaster, is common practice for republicans. Trump cut FEMA by $10 million after he came in to office, plus cuts to HHS. W. Bush cut FEMA before Katrina. Do you have any facts to back your statement?

    1. Cousin St. Louis many Americans hate the government until there a problem. If we learning anything from this tragedy it’s “United we stand – divided we fall” – hopefully we can learn to ignore the voices of division.

    2. The con man will not activate the National Defense Authorization. Those companies have told tRump not to do it so they can charge as much as they can for the supplies.

    3. I like your avatar. I can’t wait for the day Len Kasper and Jim DeShaies are doing Cubs games again. Donald Dump took Cubs and all other MLB games away from us with his poor response to this Covid-19 pandemic.
