Inside ‘The Firm’: Understanding The Royal Family | MSNBC

The fallout from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s tell-all interview with Oprah has been non-stop since it first aired. During the interview, the couple repeatedly referred to the Royal family as “The Firm.” It’s a term first attributed to Queen Elizabeth II’s father King George VI. He’s reported to have said “We’re not a family. We’re a firm.” NBC’s Joshua Johnson spoke to Insider’s Deputy Lifestyle Editor Chloe Pantazi about the business behind the monarchy.» Subscribe to MSNBC:

    1. That’s good’ol Yankee arrogance right there. The Queen is our constitutional head of state, the person to which the military swear their allegiance and the person who protects the people from would be dictators.

    2. Don’t sugar coat it, it’s more like 50% and the cold hearted behavior, of the mental health🙄

    3. @Bunyip73 sadly the responses yes and we’re tired of it we are woke and we are speaking up what about you you going to keep taking it why your tax dollars are being spent we’re done we want the truth we’re woke hello I’m here.. your bad tabloid ran JD into the ground and Amber Turd is going to pay 100 million thanks to Dan Wooten and the Sun Times in the UK that’s how bad your press is over there and it’s more like 60% try 1% you might not believe it but the other 49 to 59% does and that makes you a Sleeping Beauty you’re not woke when you can say something like that and not be honest with yourself yeah wake up Buddy, smelling like burt bologna and regrets eh?!

  1. “The Firm” – sounds like a sinister, shadowy, underworld-type company that doesn’t officially exist lol

    1. As an American it’s clear you do not understand, the British way. Anyway trump says the Nazi we all know that.

  2. The voice that she was never allowed to express within The Firm, is quite able to be heard from here.

    1. @Chris Barrett He’s happy. He’s got God, a baby girl on the way, New job, a son and a supportive wife. Money can’t buy that

    2. @Chez you’re right. But then again, im not wishing anything, I’m anticipating divorce based on my incomplete understanding on how marriages tend to fail when your partner, in this case, the commoner Megan, married into a royal family with the sole purpose of exploiting them for Netflix deals and A list status. Megan was a C list nobody before this. I dont think she needs any more sympathy from us common folk. Poor Harry

  3. The prime Minster is answerable to the queen and the queen is answerable to the tabloids and the UK wonder why the rest of the world view them as quite ODD lol I mean their spokespersons are people like lady Colin, the royal rodents and Lawrence fox, and don’t forget Piers Morgan and sharon Osbourne lol who could ask for a bigger parade of clowns

  4. Had The Firm treated Meghan better, I think she and Harry would not have left the UK. Refusing to give her protection or intervening on her behalf when the constant negative, racist tabloid coverage began shows how they really felt about her. They have certainly gone out of their way to protect Prince Andrew, possibly the least deserving of them all. The Firm never truly accepted Meghan. She and Harry did the right thing for themselves and their children.
    I wish them happiness.

    1. i agree, kathie. i always felt there was more to them leaving than just the media treatment. as bas as that was, had there been more support from the firm and better relations with the family, which are one and the same imo, they would have stayed

  5. King George did not separate the business part of the Royal Family from the family. He said,” we are not a family. We are a firm.” Pretty clear to me.

  6. I’m goin a need help getting racism from not correcting a “who made who cry” story in a gossip magazine. To paraphrase Oprah herself “what?”
