Into Restoring Voting Rights for Former Felons | Into America Podcast – Ep. 74 | MSNBC

In 2018, Florida gave ex-felons the right to vote. But many may never reach the ballot box due to unpaid court fees. On this episode of Into America, host Trymaine Lee talks to Desmond Meade, the president of the Florida Rights Restoration Coalition. He discusses the personal struggles that led him to fight for voting rights, the work it took to get Amendment 4 passed, and the current fight to help people pay their fines so they can finally vote.

    1. HOME TEAM
No I’m a conservative newly retired master chief. But I know the difference between right and wrong. Which is obviously a character trait that you were never taught.
Let me guess, you came from a white middle class family that believes in that everyone is born with the same equal opportunity.
And that the choices we make in life are Benign to the same environment that you were exposed to as a child.
Which tells me that you know absolutely nothing about people are life..
Social diseases aren’t the same as pre disposed mental diseases.
      For example , psychopaths .
This is proven by science which by the way is the only reason your alive today.
People are products of their environment. Period.
Did you not learn anything in school?
In fact your comments depict to the tee the environment that you were raised in.
Which in my opinion is much worse than the one Desmond was raised in.
But only because it makes people like you ignorant.
Your not stupid, your ignorant. Why?
Because you don’t know any better.
That’s your fault. You had all the opportunities but yet still chose to be ignorant.
Where Desmond on the other hand was limited in choices.
Think about this for a while then get back with me.
      A hungry man will eat….

  1. Had money for crack
    couldn’t find a job
    but found drugs.
If you don’t like your state laws… move.
    The system isn’t perfect
But a felon is a felon PERIOD
felons shouldn’t be able to vote if they break laws anyway
    you already don’t care.

    1. ?????

nono because you cant change laws for the better….

and no, because people are incapable of change

and no, because there is zero chance that someone could be wrongfully convicted.

because felons can have guns but not votes

because voting isnt a human right.

because people who are most effected by the criminal justice system should have a say about it.

because all felons are inheritly evil.

    1. Do you not think trump has bought a few votes. He’s been using the United States treasury to buy votes. Your money if you pay taxes.
Bloomberg can buy all the votes his money will allow.
I’m okay with that, what about you.

  2. Bloomberg is spending 100 million in Florida after already spending 1 billion in the primary. Obviously the Democrats are just as much a party for billionaires just like the Republicans. This is why Bernie never had a snowball’s chance because he was for the poor.

  3. No injustice ! Her BF shot a police officer as she stood behind him. She got what she deserved. They found a dead body in the trunk of car Breonna rented. 🦛

  4. felons should not vote until they have completed their restitution to their victims.
the felons need to pay, not Micheal Bloomberg.
