Is New York Approaching A Coronavirus Peak, Or A Plateau? | The Day That Was | MSNBC

In the last two days, New York state saw the number of hospital admissions and intubations due to COVID-19 increase at a slower rate, and deaths essentially held steady. What does this mean for New York’s place on the curve? It’s unknown whether the change in numbers will be followed by an increase in cases, a decrease or a plateau. In any case, experts say continued adherence to social distancing and stay-at-home orders is still essential to reducing deaths and pressure on the health care system.

Is New York Approaching A Coronavirus Peak, Or A Plateau? | The Day That Was | MSNBC

  1. Until every state is on lock down, no city/state can ever claim to have reached its apex. Especially a city with as many moving parts as NYC. Sending love and light to everyone.

    1. @BJB Trump said in order to go back to work you will need to take a test and be certified to have Antibodies. If you’ve never had the virus how will you get the Antibodies? and how will you be Certified. I believe Bill Gates had the answer…

    1. @Autobot Diva Our govenor is american so to correct my self honest their is a electronic sign posted as you enter into delaware..Iam a delaware person and been in my apt longer than 14 days.

    2. @Hildebeast Clinton i dont know ANY flu taking 724 ppl out in 24 hours. My friend died in 48 hours. Bn in body bag since Monday. No funeral.

    3. @Autobot Diva Hang in there. had some interesting news like fda ok some use of off label drugs that we use for other things as well as trials on many new. There is some sucess. You can go to u tube videos and make a face sheild out 2 liter bottle or mask from micro fiber bra .I did our world is changing.I care for my 84 yr.father still gets around lol

  2. I hope when this is all over there is a serious effort by the government to treat the likely psychological fallout for the medical staff. Losing one patient can have a devestation on you but I can’t even imagine losing multiple patients a day that level of stress for that long will likely cause some serious PTSD

    1. @puckelberry maybe you should be in NY helping at hospital instead of repeating CNN propaganda on here?

    2. @thoth81 I don’t think you come across as cold and uncaring at all, I just think you deal with things differently for me I did a stint in ICU and over a period of 6 months lost 5 patients and that was heart breaking especially because over that time I had got to know the family so well. As for the risk of infectious disease I agree it is a risk but I would say that in most hospitals typically you have your PPE which allows you a large degree of safety. When we were recently treating a TB patient it was change gowns masks and gloves as soon as you left the room, but with the supply situation of the hardest hit hospitals that sort of thing isn’t possible. I’ve never heard of a doctor or nurse contracting an illness from a patient and dying weeks later in any hospital I’ve worked in. I’m sure the cases stated in the media are a minority but its still a worry especially if you have family at home.

    3. @Keith Mcmorrow Opposed to your incredible job of spreading false information and downplaying a disease which has the capacity to overwhelm every unprepared health system and is not helped by members of the public thinking they’re resilient or immune. If your decisions only impacted you that would be OK but this is a society issue.

    4. @GhastlyCloud 775 trump had indeed been outstanding…….ly incompetent.

He stands out with how utterly he failed the country.

  3. I used to work in New York. Before I went there, many people told me how rude the people were and how I would get F-bombed more than I ever had been in my life. Well, the F-bombing was the only truth in that tale. I always found New Yorkers to be warm, thoughtful, considerate and friendly … just maybe a little more direct than I was used to.

But what really defines New Yorkers for me is their heart, their compassion, their courage and their resilience. They’re like no other group of people that I know. I ache for them everyday when I see these news accounts but it doesn’t stop me from admiring their spirit and being inspired by their guts in the face of adversity. New York will triumph in the end and we can be thankful that we have New York’s example to follow in understanding what it takes to fight this, as we will all be tested before this is done. New York Strong!!

    1. Chris W: You have no idea what exponential growth means.

Here in Ontario there is an old age home where already 1 in every 3 residents has died (and one volunteer) and 3/4 of the residents have tested positive for Coronavirus.

    2. @Peter Robertson PERFECTLY WORDED and ARTICULATED..hopefully this will quiet his IGNORANT a$$ up ..sometimes you need to RESPOND as i now see…GREAT JOB!!!! and again TAKE CARE MAN and STAY SAFE!!!

    3. @blacksmith67 he is the definition of a person who thinks everything is a conspiracy..im sure he thinks the earth is flat also..complete moron..with bad statistics as trying to compare apples n oranges…stay safe

    4. @Ronny & Tara DiSalvo – you know, Ronny, I should have done it NY style and just told him to go F-himself. Thanks for your kind words, man … sending nothing but good energy your way! Be safe!

    5. @Peter Robertson lol ya i think you got him good though..alright man take care..thanks again..

  4. until there is a nationwide lockdown for at least 3 weeks this will be a rolling pandemic that springs right back up the moment a lockdown is lifted.

    1. @Strategicfooyoo

Sometimes people create the excuses they need to do things otherwise unjustifiable. When they have the big budgets like government, big business, and media, they tend to be quite convincing, sometimes.

Just look at how long they all told us in unison that Marijuana was a dangerous gateway drug, that would lead to worse! All of them.

We locked up kids’ parents, stuck them in foster care, ruined people’s lives, stole their freedom, soiled their reputations, and everything in between, for DECADES…

Because the same people telling you to be afraid right now, were the same people telling you that BS too, parading all sorts of “experts” in front of us to lie some more to people who didn’t know any better.

    2. @Dominant Productions this isnt some isolated event, its hitting everyone around the world at the same time and unless you believe theres a global conspiracy, I don’t think this much evidence can be falsified.

    1. This is the biggest crisis since World War 2.
Could we say this is World War 3?
Education has shut down. Business and shops shut down. Social lives changed.
The global economy on the verge of collapse. Major sports events all shut down and postponed.
Olympics cancelled since World War 2. Blitz survivors saying this is worse than what they witnessed during the war. The whole world is at war. Countries have employed their army. Countries are at war, not with each other but with a common enemy that is killing thousands every day. Unprecedented times, nothing we have ever witnessed in our lifetime.

  5. I love how In utah last night they were like “we’re flattening the curve!” Honestly I don’t even think our curve has started yet.

    1. Correct. According to Singapore, S. Korea, Taiwan Scientists…( and Chinese Scientists), this virus has 4 waves, ( the U.S. in NYC is only in their 2nd wave at this time), and there are Multiple Peaks and Valley’s with each Wave. So though NYC is in their 2nd wave….most other states are still in their 1st wave of this virus Infection. And we all have a very long way to go. And these numbers are wrong. You cannot have accurate numbers without everyone being tested with the Corvid 19 test, nor without everyone also being tested via the antibody test to see who has been Infected but might not known they were infected. This has to be done in order to really have a true or realistic model of cases nationwide.

    2. @Dan Ravioli hey man we are all in this together, doesn’t matter if ur working or staying home . We are All doing our part and that’s just what we do .
You realize that other countries have been living in war torn areas under way worse threats for years and for the most part they are still working and going on , the world didn’t end and it’s not going to now. It’s time to help others in ur community going

    3. @Dan Ravioli yes I just wanted u to know it’ll be ok . Your not alone that’s all . Sorry if I came off rude , I guess we are all a bit un nerved. Take care. And please feel free to say what you feel. That’s what these comments are for . My prayers to u and your family.

  6. With his catastrophic mishandling of the coronavirus, Trump has established himself as the worst president in U.S. history.

    1. I carry out the treatment for expulsion of the Coronavirus through urine with “QUANTIC PHYSICS” to remote with date of birth, to any city in the USA or New York, the price of my professional fees is 50 $us once it is negative in the laboratory . First I do the treatment and then the patient makes the payment, the treatment lasts 3 days. Reservations javieritoduran7@hotmail.com Payment with bank transfer to Ecuador.

  7. 2:20 “you and I are wearing masks for a reason”

I don’t think face masks do much around your neck

    1. @Shana Lawson no, not all masks muffle speech like you’re saying. Not to mention with the technology and equipment they have it’s not n issue

    2. The Kid The mask he’s wearing muffles speech, even if they’re using a clip mic it wouldn’t have been able to pick up muffled speech. It would actually be worse bc the mic would pick up the sound of the fabric better being closer to the object.

  8. My heart goes out to all New Yorkers. I’ve been keeping up on what they’ve been going through and praying and crying for them. Blessings for all of them, all the people who have contracted that virus, and condolences to all who have lost loved ones across the world😢

    1. “BRITISH ministers are “no longer discounting” the theory that coronavirus originated after leaking from a Chinese bio research lab in Wuhan. Theories about the origins of coronavirus being linked to a lab in Wuhan have been batted around since the early days out of the outbreak.
Senior sources have reportedly admitted while the “balance of scientific advice” is that the virus originated naturally, a leak is also being considered by security services. “Perhaps it is no coincidence that there is that laboratory in Wuhan. It is not discounted…”
      https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/11331115/british-ministers-coronavirus-china-lab-leak-theory/

    2. @thetalentedmrman that article even says “perhaps”. You’re talking like it’s a fact. Proof please?

    3. @TheKid – I’m not. I’m simply informing that now Government Ministers are no longer discounting the theory that COVID-19 Coronavirus leaked from a biological lab. Simple. The idea of coronavirus being biologically engineered and leaked from a lab in Wuhan is still a possibility according to government Ministers, as published.
And prove that COVID-19 Coronavirus is NOT biologically engineered? You can’t prove it either. The fact is, no average joe knows 100%, apart from what they’re being told. Simple.

    1. @Hildebeast Clinton you are living in another dimension, dream on,
you are not seeing what trump and cronies and the gop are doing !

    2. This is the biggest crisis since World War 2.

  9. The music playing in the background makes this so depressing like as if the world is coming to an end

  10. Images from Italy 4 weeks ago showed bodies in bags stacked up and difficulties handling them.
But of course when talking about the US, “nobody could have predicted this”…………………

    1. people are amazingly stupid, aren’t they? One wonders how we ever invented medicine, the internet, or the internal combustion engine.

  11. I live in New York but I wish you guys a happy safe staying inside your home so please stay safe people 🙂

  12. We have reporters asking the POTUS questions about Tiger King in the midst of a global pandemic. We’ve reached peak surreality.
