Is Trump’s “Great” Economy Nearing A Recession? – The Day That Was | MSNBC

    1. Tax cuts for the rich expanded the national debt. It’s clear he doesn’t care about the future but the sh*t hit the fan a little early.

    2. @Sandra Walker The scary thing is, His followers continue to repeat like robots, The economy is doing great! Well, it is if you’re already rich. He didn’t give anything to the middle class or poor. And the unemployment rate was Obama’s doing. He came in at the right time to Inherit it.

    3. @Gregory Rush agree, Can’t believe that a presidential candidate is not. Vetted thoroughly,????The country has a Russian Mobster in the Whitehouse??? What next???

  1. It’s crazy to kinda welcome a recession in order for Trump to be defeated. I have more faith in our country surviving another recession than another 4 years of Trump.

    1. @nathan mckenzie hate is, unfortunately, a natural reaction to the success of those you despise. as admitted they want millions to suffer so they get their way. pathetic.

    2. @Crystal Giddens what success? The economy has been growing constantly for about a decade. Please don’t act like there has been some miraculous turn around since 2017

    3. @Crystal Giddens I see what facts are. Please tell me the unemployment rate the day Trump took office?

    4. Crystal Giddens I see what is so obvious. Empty business lots all over one of the richest cities in the world is sign of a terrible economy.

You know what I saw back in 2006 and 2007? A lot of homes for sale in Northern California. This was a few years before the last recession, and BEFORE Moodys AAA ratings of various companies went up in smoke. Mark my words: it’s HERE AGAIN.

If anyone lives in Great Neck, NY, walk down Middle Neck Road. How many empty lots do you see?

    1. 88Gibson LesPaul when trump gets re elected will you be man enough to accept and admit you were wrong? Cause if he doesn’t I’ll be man enough to accept and admit I was wrong. Will you ? Come on big boy it’s put up or shut up time.

    2. @David Hale so i guess the only good News Station right? NBC,CBS and ABC and all other News Stations are all fake news.Coincidently, there was no such thing as”fake news”until Trump coined the phrase.

    3. David Hale – No sweetheart, Trump didn’t “make back” a thing. The investors he conned into giving him money for garbage investments *lost their shirts in bankruptcy* . The banks he conned into loaning him money, lost most of it when he folded. That’s why American banks stopped loaning him money nearly 25 years ago. The only bank willing to take a chance was Deutsche Bank (a German bank with notoriously shady lending practices) and they got put through the wringer when one of his investments was flagged and investigated for fraud. Of course it was fraudulent and Deutsche Bank was fined $650 million for their role.

That’s the reason why he gets all his money from Russia. A fact that Eric Trump confirmed during an interview years ago. The Russian government is really just a mob masquerading as a legitimate government. But that is to whom Trump is beholden. That is who’s bidding he does.

But please don’t take my word for it…

BTW, The Hill is center-right leaning. Foreign Policy magazine is also center right leaning

    1. ….APATHY IS A BLATANT LIE. It Is One of PUTIN’S/ TRUMP’S TROLLS Most Potent Misdirections. “Don’t Vote You Can’t Change Anything”. Yet People in Russia and Taiwan are Protesting In The Streets. VOTE And Continue To VOTE Until We Change Our World.

    2. @maya L No, he didn’t. He lost the election by millions of votes and the electoral college made him president anyway. That’s not democracy. That’s a subversion of democracy.

    3. @Ann Owens The 2016 election is proof that our vote doesn’t matter. Clinton won and yet Trump still became president.

    1. @Will Hale
It’s all on Dump, the corrupt criminal, fake, illegitimate presidunce, who bankrupted 6 times, and who lost $1 billion of other people’s money and, in turn, used the loss for write-off, so he didn’t have to pay taxes for 10 years!!! What a LOSER!!!

    2. yea indeed…. this isn’t Trumps fault. Its the banks that hold the cash and the 1% ‘ers who own like 80% of the stock market so YOU should know who causes these problems.

    1. @Jamie Cox – And where were you while Obama was doubling the national debt and spent two terms blaming Bush for everything? You’re a hypocrite.

    2. @Jamie Cox dont get me wrong but i rather have Trump then any Clinton tho. Its sad that people had to pick between 2 evils and then after picking sides they will lose all objectivity

    3. @maya L and please show me where I wasn’t critical of Obama?! but unlike Trump, Obama inherited a nation that was in serious trouble and in a financial depression and so that required spending more money in order to get the economy back stable! I am by no means in Obama apologist, but Obama Obama increased our national debt by 9 plus trillion dollars over 8 years and primarily due to the second biggest depression to ever hit us, whilst Trump is on-target to increase our national debt by 8.3 trillion dollars Over 4 f–king years! Big difference between the two!

  2. He inherited the great economy from Obama we knew he’d destroy it. That’s what he does. Wake up red hats!

    1. Why are you people speaking as if we’re in a recession? We aren’t. This is just MSNBC doing what it does best: misleading its viewers.

    2. @starmartir – If you think we’re in a recession, then you don’t know what a recession is. Even MSNBC didn’t say we’re in a recession. They’re just fear-mongering with the stock market.

    3. Recession, it will be a great Depression, if the country doesn’t get this Russian Loser out!!!As long as the illegitimate president is in,you basically have Putin as your leader…and all his Russian minions,,, Republican defunct White racist party., I guess that’s what America wants, noboby is standing up for democracy???? Where’s The Protests, when is the last straw Enough!!What next with this buffoon??? 🤔🤔🤔Unbelievable….

  3. Trump…No problem, just needs another Trillion+ Tax Cut for the Rich to buy back shares and the Market will rise until the end of my term ! Then we can blame the future President !

    1. That in a nutshell is the GOP strategy and always has been.  Look at it.  There has never been a GOP POTUS in probably 100 years that has ever balanced the budget or even tried to, and yet they will run up the deficit, then when they lose their office they will blame the Democrat who comes into office for it and pressure them to try to lower the deficit so that when the next GOP POTUS comes into office, they can repeat the process all over again.  Anyone with half a brain can see that this is the whole dog chasing its tail.

  4. Of course it is. It’s been coasting along on the impetus of Obama’s economic decisions. Trump has just about managed to reverse everything. The result has been inevitable. I’m only surprised it took so long.
But if that’s what it takes to bring people to their senses, so be it.

    1. @Verruca Enough with your Obongo bs, 2008 recession wasn’t caused by him. Trump gives his Jewish bosses tax cuts and gives Americans more debt.

    1. @maya L Obama didn’t blame Bush for anything except starting a war in the middle east (which Bush took responsibility for himself).

    2. @GDI – No. Obama definitely blamed Bush for the economy he inherited. And he definitely blamed Bush for the historically sluggish recovery over which he presided. He spent 8 years blaming Bush.

    1. @Jeffrey Hagelin#1 who said i wanted a civil war. #2 I was being sarcastic.#3 if we did have a civil war the majority of you guys would die from starvation. #4 no semi trucks no gas no food no medical supplies every city well start starving within a week. Without us truck drivers you have nothing always remember that. I could survive a civil war because I know how to live off the land

  5. Anyone with 2 cents of sense knew he was wrong for America. The responsibility of this abhorrent racist misogynistic spiritually bankrupt man being the President lies squarely on the shoulders of the dead GOP and Americans who believed their hype.

    1. Donald J. Trump

      @realDonaldTrump

..Spread is way too much as other countries say THANK YOU to clueless Jay Powell and the Federal Reserve. Germany, and many others, are playing the game! CRAZY INVERTED YIELD CURVE! We should easily be reaping big Rewards & Gains, but the Fed is holding us back. We will Win!

    1. @John O
      Donald J. Trump

    1. Republicans love destroying the economy, they do the same every time. They then moan about it when there’s a Dem president. The Dems fix it, Republicans use a good economy to give trillions to their donors, send everything crashing again. Conservatives love this, they like nothing more than the rich getting richer and the destruction of the middle and working-class.

    2. He was elected by the majority of people who voted for him to literally destroy the government and the way the US works. He is doing his primary supporter mandate.

  6. Of course a recession is coming. It was bound to happen. The wealthy love recessions. They make even more money off the poor through real estate. They purchase property everywhere for almost nothing and then profit for generations.

    1. Apple has 250 billion dollars on hand, in Cash. They’ll buy up startups with great technology for next to nothing.

    2. Ken Verrett – Exactly what I was thinking. Those with most money win in a recession buying up properties at all time lows with low rates

    3. My family was lucky to sell our home before the housing crash while prices were inflated.
We then happened to move to cheap place to live. Before the housing market recovered we bought a house that has now doubled in “value”.

A recession is just a fire sale for the wealthy and theft for those that get screwed over by corporatwe greed and bad policy.

    1. @maya L I’ll answer your question if you tell me who told Trump his nose will grow if he tells the truth, because every statement that Russian puppet has made since his first visit to Russia has been a lie.

    2. @William Stewart Trump cut a $1.5 trillion tax cut. 90% of that tax cut goes the the top 1% on a permanent basis. 10% of that tax cut goes to the bottom 90% on a temporary basis…

Trump’s tax cut to the working class will be phased out while the top 1% continue receiving their tax break.

Where’s the Trickle-Down? Hmmmm? Oh, that’s right. It’s been replaced with Trump supporters calling everyone who isn’t a Trump supporter a Socialist.

    3. *Economy doing well.*
Crooked Trump “this was all me, I did this.”
Dems “you inherited a great economy.”
Crooked Trump “no, this was all me, I’ve made the economy great again. Obama had nothing to do with anything.”
      *Recession starts*
Crooked Trump “this is all Obama’s fault, his economy over two years ago has done this, nothing to do with me.”
Dems “but we thought Obama had nothing to do with anything?
Crooked Trump “fake news, I never said that Obama did this and probably Clinton’s email’s had something to do with it as well.”

    1. If you were paying any attention at all, you’d know that he’s blaming the Fed chairman. Blaming Obama makes zero sense.

  7. Donald is known for blaming his crap on others. This man never takes responsibility for his own wrong doings.
