@David Stegne Well, because those places are completely different. Again, more arguments that are so easy to refute. Do you guys have any original thought? Broken record/song stuck on repeat.
Those countries either harbored terrorist organizations that flew commercial jet liners into the World Trade Center, were in a full blown civil war (that negatively affected multiple neighbors I might add), creation of nuclear and/or biological weapons, genocide, breaking of international laws, etc etc. Ukraine is guilty of NOT ONE of these things.
Speaking of Afghanistan, if only they were more Ukrainian, maybe they could have prevented the Taliban from taking over. Should have given the guns to the women and girls. They had more to fight for, so likely would have done a better job. After all of those billions spent on their economy, infrastructure, military, and military training… what a waste. They were useless. Sadly, the country now has food shortages, medical shortages, girls can no longer go to school post primary, spousal abuse, etc etc. Down the toilet. And Bacha Bazi. Don’t know what that is? Look it up.
But yes, the US is no angel. But one thing they aren’t guilty of, is stealing land from any of those countries. Especially not from a neighbor.
The west didn’t start this. Putin is invading. Not the west. I fail to see how having friendly relations with a free country is starting a war. Putin doesn’t own Ukraine, or at least didn’t prior to 2014 or today. Ukraine can make their own decisions regarding their very own national security.

@David Stegne I’m not a fan of Trudeau and fully support the truckers. Whoa… are you suggesting I don’t have a mind of my own? That seems to be the common accusation amongst a few of you. I’ve been to 36 countries and counting, I’m fluent in three languages and working on my fourth, and I despise the vast majority of the wests media. Although… still better than state run media. State run media in Russia, China, North Korea, Cuba, etc all ranks near the bottom, but even corporate media, especially here in the US, has constantly been falling in the rankings. The US was once pretty high, but now only ranks 44th on the world. Still far better than Russia at 150th though. Same goes for Internet freedoms scores. Russia is far better than China, but still comparatively low to the US or Canada. I heard they’ve just recently blocked a number of sites now for the time being due to their invasion. Wikipedia and FaceBook being just two of them.
Anyways, I’m not biased. If Ukraine were doing this to Russia, I’d be just as outraged. Or China to Russia and taking Vladivostok like they publicly spoke on. Or China to Taiwan. Or China and India in the Line of Actual Control (LAC). It doesn’t matter who the invader, or who the invaded is. Aren’t we globally supposed to be more civilized than ever now? Progression, not regression, right? It’s the 21st century. 2022. Leave borders where they lay.
And FYI, I do agree with you on the 2nd invasion of Iraq. But let’s not pretend he was a good man. He committed mass genocide during his Anfil campaign. But… despite that, it was in his own country. If we are to believe the various reports, also tried to do a hit on bush in Kuwait. But again… the more I think about it, countries like that in that region, maybe they need a ruthless leader like that? Seems to be the only kind of leader that keeps many of the countries in line

@Deborah Freedman about my opinion how will fold. EU needs to contact Russia and willing to contact Russia. Currently, Russia’s military action is still quite limited . Tanks were marching towards Kiev not rushing to cut off the supply and ammunitions . This shows either this troop have lots of fake equipments , or Putin has not decided to have a cruel battle . European leaders need to step up, including Turkey , by providing a space for both country to negotiate, and holding both Russia and Ukraine accountable for long over due responsibilities. Sending troops against a nuclear force is almost impossible no matter.

I feel like the mere asking of this question undermines the efforts of the Ukrainian people. When hope is lost, the war is lost. Everyone reporting about when they expect Ukraine to fall and whether or not they’re losing does nothing but demoralize Ukrainians.
