If he walked over to the driver seat to get a knife on the floorboard, wouldn’t that mean he wasn’t carrying a knife in his possession prior to being shot? The cops didn’t know he had a knife on the floorpad until after he was shot. A knife on the floorboard is definitely equivalent in strength to three guns, right? So how can they say seven shots were warranted and that they shot him because he had a knife in his position the whole time. Why do you think he was walking to the driver’s seat? Was he going to get the gun or the knife? It’s three cops. Could they have tased him versus shoot close range seven times? The issue is the severity of their response with seven shots. Couldn’t they have shot once or tased him? If you can’t answer my question, it’s possible that maybe YOU should also wait on the facts from both sides as well, right? @Valentino That’s the problem with this short video. It doesn’t show the officers wrestling to get him down and then him escaping. It doesn’t show that the cops warned him that they would taze him, which he ignored. Then they tazed him but it didn’t have much effect. So after all that you see 3 officers with guns trying to stop him from getting into the car from the other side. He ignored, ignored and ignored them over and over. I know a little about how the cops are trained. But I know absolutely nothing about why any person of any color fights and resists cops when they are outnumbered and outgunned. I think the question isn’t what was the officer thinking when he shot him, but what the hell was Jacob thinking. Or not thinking. And for my first time, but certainly not the first or tenth time someone has said “cops aren’t trained to shoot a man one time”. If you believe your life (or the life of another is in danger) you shoot them until they go down. I’m guessing you know little about guns, little about the strength of adrenaline in a fight or flight situation. You can get shot and not even know you were shot when you are full of adrenaline. Or maybe this guy was on drugs which can change everything.

@Oh Shoot a RAT He obviously didn’t fight them THAT much, considering they let him calmly walk away and around the car before shooting him in the back 7 times… but hey, what do I know, there’s only eye witness recording of it like you said. That being said, this isn’t a Judge Dredd movie… people are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The key part here, is that the person has to MAKE IT to that court of law in the first place.
Hell, I’m not saying that he shouldn’t have been arrested. I’m not even saying that he shouldn’t necessarily have been shot, though with 3 cops, I don’t see why they wouldn’t just tase him, or use… you know… the three of them to just subdue him with… you know… muscles and a little effort (it was by far not a last resort shooting). But shooting a man 7 times in the back is excessive. I think anyone can agree with that. And the entire point of the recent protests (and riots) have been the use of excessive force by police. And I can absolutely agree with that.

@1985dafydd well, no. there is Systemic Racism in the courts. Those privileged judges, attorneys and lawyers get to avoid the person when they are violent, after the police (the ones actually facing the hard choices) have intervened.

If you really care, then show up for the other victims. Don’t just pick these to be outraged at. It looks like you just care about black ppl when they are criminals.

And he has quite a rap sheet, which includes unlawful display of a firearm. The incident in which he was shot resulted from one of the “fiancees” that this fine unmarried church-going father of 6 was trying to father his 7th child with. This particular “fiancee” just so happened to have a restraining order against Jacob, and had called the police for yet another domestic violence incident during which Jacob was trying to steal the keys to her car, with 3 of his children accompanying him for moral support. According to audio recordings of the police dispatch calls, the police were very much aware of who they were dealing with before they arrived on scene. This man had a warrant for felony third degree sexual assault , criminal trespass, domestic abuse and disorderly conduct. He had previously had 3 counts of failure to pay child support. It’s all on Wisconsin Circuit Court Access. A soon to be felon probably going to prison along with numerous earlier accounts of failure to support his family. Who is kidding who.
