The House and Senate have adjourned for the weekend without coming to an agreement on a new economic stimulus package despite the looming deadline for unemployment benefits that many have relied on during the coronavirus pandemic. CNN's Manu Raju discusses with Jake Tapper.

That’s a good point. It should have been set up that if the stimulus bill did not get passed, no one in Congress would get paid until it did. Or start taxing the living hell out of the rich until the bill got passed. They’d put so much pressure on Congress, the stimulus bill would have rocketed through approval.
They gave themselves a raise in March… Did the same thing in 2009during the crash, but put the language in there to keep it secret so that people wouldn’t get upset at how crass they truly are.

Masks are a total political joke I hope everyone can see that. Breath into a mask and tiny moisture droplets leaches/permeates through the fibers just waiting to be touched. Look at anyone with a mask around their neck, the second that mask is touched and doesn’t immediately disinfect their hands you may as well lick your fingers and shake everybody’s hands. That’s exactly how contagious these types of viruses are and exactly how they are being transmitted around the globe like wildfire. Everyone that is walking around wearing a mask and not using proper medical procedural mask wearing protocol (basically zero percent of the population) is unwittingly passing potentially deadly pathogenic viruses onto everything and anything touched. Heather Shaw from what I’ve read and seen on the news, not all of the Republicans agree with the idea that we are lazy bums who want the government to pay us not to work. Apparently, it’s Steve Mnuchin’a idea to cut unemployment crisis benefits to $200, but that’s not the actual conflict between the GOP and the Democrats. The actual conflict is that Democrats want other incentives along with extended unemployment crisis benefits that cost an estimated $3 Trillion while the GOP thinks that’s too much to spend and aren’t budging to give the Democrats the other $2 trillion of incentives. Nancy Pelosi has explicitly said that she is willing to negotiate on the amount of unemployment, but she wants it to come with more money for schools, testing, etc. The Democrat proposal doesn’t say anything about paying Americans to stay home during the pandemic, what it proposed was to extend the CARES ACT unemployment benefits date to Jan 2021 instead of July 31. So, unfortunately it seems that neither party actually cares about the American public and that both sides are in a power struggle at our expense.
@Prima Donna Yes, how dare Nancy Pelosi wants to be able to have adequate testing done for Americans, and make sure that the schools are properly outfitted for the returning children that the Republicans can’t wait to get back in there so the little germ magnets can spread the virus to mom, dad, teachers, lunchroom personnel, administration (many of whom are elderly, BTW). I didn’t realize Mnunchin was now head of the Senate or even a Senator, for that matter. Oh, that’s right, he’s NOT. What the Republicans offered was 200 a week. Most unemployment benefits Max out at or around 300 a week. That’s only 2000 a month. Not sure where you live, but most people can’t pay for their home, car, healthcare, other bills and food with that paltry sum. The Democrats did their jobs-back in MAY, in fact. Meanwhile, Moscow Mitch dragged his feet until a week before the benefits were to expire. Funny, Republicans had no concerns whatsoever about the budget or the deficit when passing a 1.5 trillion tax break for the uber wealthy. (part of the problem as to why we’re in this financial pickle as they’ve been gutting most social programs to pay for all those tax breaks) But now they’rr concerned about the deficit when hundreds of thousands of people are dead and millions are unemployed? How about asking their rich friends for that 1.5 trillion back?

The Democrats passed a bill way back on MAY 15th, which then sat on McConnell’s desk for over 2 months even though he was well aware of benefits expiring at the end of July. Once a bill gets passed in the House of Reps. It goes to the Senate for a vote, but as the Republicans control the Senate it is up to McConnell as to what and when something will be brought up for a vote. Did you not have American History or Government class in high school or college?!? As for the virus, it wasn’t created by 5G or China or astral witches demon spawn. Jesus Christ, did you not have biology either? I mean this is like high school level biology here. OK, I will do what I can, but I’m not a miracle worker. Covid19 is not the 19th attempt by the Chinese government. The 19 stands for 2019, which is the year it was discovered. It is in the class of virus known as SARS. It is a very large class encompassing such viruses as rhinovirus(not a virus caused by rhinos. You probably know it as the common cold. Rhino is Latin for 👃) as well as H1N1 (you might know it as “the flu ” , which yes, it is a flu virus-but it is just one of many as viruses mutate constantly -crazy right?) Covid 19 is a SARS 2 virus. Which is, yes, a mutation of the SARS virus. See, isn’t learning fun?Viruses, by their very nature mutate constantly (as they really just consist of a protein like shell and the DNA material that they infect a cell with. Once they do this they tell your cells to make more of them. Still with me? It kills your cell, which releases more virus in your system, which then go on to infect more of your cells. The process is a bit more complicated than that, of course, but I wanted to be sure you’d understand and I’m not sure how many gaps in a general education you have. So it is not some evil government conspiracy. It is a natural mutation of a virus. Also, the Spanish Flu -did not originate in Spain. Actually, it originated in the states but as we were in WWI at the time we, of course, didn’t want to “take credit for it”. Neither did the UK who was also hit hard with it, but poor Spain was neutral in the war do they were saddled with it. No, neither the US or UK developed the Spanish Influenza and unleashed it to kill millions. Again, it was a virus that mutated. Please, I implore you to open a science 📖. Don’t just open it though-READ IT!
