  1. Gang member or not, 9 months for an illegal gun is a joke. Laden got 4years, others have gotten 5. He wasn’t tried for being in a gang, fine, but he was found with an ILLEGAL gun which should carry a minimum of 5 years. JAMAICA JUSTICE SYSTEM IS A DOLLY HOUSE.

  2. Idiot Interpretation of the law..then again there should be mandatory minimum sentencing if caught with an illegal firearm

    1. Like one hundred years in prison for a gun plus ten years in prison for a gun shot plus lash in and out of prison

  3. What is the fine for a n illegal firearm..so it’s up to 5 year so all citizens should get a firearm to protect themselves the least you’ll get if caught …is 1month so arm up citizens..

  4. The solution to this problem begins at Gordon House. At a time when crime is rampant I see no reason for judges to be opting for minimum sentencing at this time. I believe because they along with other gate keepers of the system (QC,M.P, Senators etc.) are allowed to have police escorts and weapons, all while the public are left to the slaughter, they are not brother at all by what is happening. The day is fast approaching when the public at large will care zero about laws and begin to procure guns and other weapons for their person and homes, without care for whatever laws are on the books. That is the day true chaos will be known.

  5. Old and outdated laws, poor policing, poor interpretation of the law and now another gunman on the loose. This is how we fight crime in Jamaica! The breakdown in the law must be immediately addressed so that this never happens again.

    1. That’s why it’ll never be rooted out. They feed off it n we’re the bait. I can’t wait for the rebellion and the rebuilding of our land.

  6. Thats why the police must kill them bout laws on book him plea guilty tired of the foolishness god help us it will reach their door too

  7. Some one please tell me that this Ain’t true this Judge is adding Insult to injury I guess all the gun man them would be happy to have him as there Judge that perside over there case This is very very sad

  8. Chief Justice Bryan Sykes, how do you sleep at nights, no really? what does the FLA’s licensed Act says when you are caught with an illegal firearm the minimum is 4 years and the maximum is 5 years..and Chief Justice Bryan Sykes is out here playing DEAN OF DISCIPLINE (show me the Evidence) with the JCF!

  9. Jamaica need leadership even if he catch with gun and armo he should get more sentence Jamaica is in problem can the government fired these judges they are bad for the country.

  10. If it was in England the attorney general would have step in and increase the sentence, I don’t if the law stipulates that in Jamaica

  11. Put the allegations aside …he pleaded guilty to gun possession and that’s the sentence for an illegal gun!!!! There’s no justification… something is wrong with this system

  12. Everyone, get you guns, if you get caught you only get nine months, it’s a great day for all killers and murderers, thanks Sykes, you’re a murderers best friend.

  13. Why not give him the maximum 5 years. Seeing that so many citizens are being killed by guns, the judge send a clear message that the behaviour will not be tolerated. Dpp can appeal the sentence.
