It is no question President Trump’s style has shattered political norms and right now, both sides are raging as the impeachment inquiry explodes – making it seem that civility is dead. Host of “Judge Jerry,” Jerry Springer and the Serve America Movement’s Chief Strategist Reed Galen join Stephanie Ruhle to discuss if we can get civility back and whether we even need to. Aired on 11/01/19.

  1. A crowd booing a corrupt POTUS at a sporting event is nothing more than exercising freedom of speech. We have a POTUS who goes on television constantly and insults and lies about world leaders in American heroes. If he can do that patriots can boo him.

    1. “Freedom of Speech”? How come that didn’t apply to Curt Schilling, when he was illegally fired by ESPN?

    2. @r385671 It’s not about red, or blue, left or right; it’s ALL about being, AMERICAN! trump did not use the state of the union address to bring the American people back together after the election as has been done by other U.S. presidents since I’ve been voting.

  2. The creator of the Jerry Springer show is a voice of sanity and civility compared to human garbage like Trump.

    1. @Crimdor The JS Show wasn’t originally that kind of show, it was more like the old Donahue Show when it started.

    1. @Alexander L Because Obama was a compassionate, decent person. One can disagree with his policies but not with his strong character. trump hates being compared with Obama…and he should as the comparison shows how petty, immature and incompetent trump is. Funny how the republicans branded themselves as the party of family values yet attempted to degrade a man who was exactly that.

  3. Bleeping out tRump from TV all together is a great thing, but Jerry is right about bleeping out the president’s speeches..it will become a very sad day indeed.

  4. The quote that said “the people get the government that they deserve, and the people in a democracy get the leaders that they deserve “says it all.

    1. @mary jones WHO TF is a leftist to talk about standards?!?!?! The Dems are the real party of hate, supporting terrorists like antifa and BLM, perverting language for decades, promoting postmodernist denial of the possibility for truth, on top of being the party of slavery, segregation, and dependency-inducing welfare programs that have kept millions of minorities dependent, controllable, and fatherless in urban ghettoes. The Dems’ standards are so “high,” that their double.

  5. Civility was one of Trump’s first targets. Disguised as a rebellion against ‘political correctness’, it was a license to throw discretion right out the window. Say whatever you want about anybody. The moment of failure with Trump was the Republican primary where he should have been shown the door for his attacks and lies … they owned that process.

    1. As low as I thought Republicans had sunk, I didn’t think they’d *ever* permit the likes of Donald Trump to represent them.
I was clearly wrong about that and, since then, they’ve shown me they can be even worse than that.
Eradicate the Republican party, its members and its mindset, vote blue in 2020 and every election after that until they’re gone. Never let them return. We can make life much better for everyone!

    1. @Mind Freshenertypical member of the Jerry Springer fan club and advent viewer of his show… Explains the Trumpter🙊🙉🙈 mess in Washington.

    2. Jerry Springer had a regular mainstream talk show for years before he began his stunt TV crud. It was such a shame, because he’s smart and a really likeable guy.

  6. We have come to expect and accept that the lowest common denominator rather than aspiring to the highest common denominator.

  7. “Are you saying that leaders should set the example”? Um, I’m pretty sure that’s how leadership works…

    1. @wally crail, most of America did not vote, 120million Americans voted out of 350 million, most of Americans don’t trust the political process so they don’t even bother to vote !!!

    2. @William Strong All the accusations against Trump are false. Democrats are guilty of every crime they’ve accused Trump. “And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?” (Romans 2:3, KJV). The Lord Jesus Christ will not allow those hypocritical Democrats to get away with their blatant coup attempt.

    3. “Nancy Pelosi proclaimed Thursday that the party-line impeachment vote in the House of Representatives was about protecting “democracy.” Madame Speaker was actually close to speaking the truth for once, because what the impeachment circus is about is protecting Democrats, particularly the Obama administration officials who sought to sabotage President Trump both during the 2016 election campaign and after Trump won.

The vote Thursday — 232 to 196, with all but two Democrats in favor and all Republicans voting “no” — followed several days of secret testimony in deranged California Rep. Adam Schiff’s House Intelligence Committee, conducted prior to any authorizing vote on the House floor.

Now that Democrats have formally voted to climb aboard the “Ukrainegate” impeachment train, however, Pelosi and her party have signed a sort of suicide pact. They must destroy the president in a desperate effort to prevent Americans from learning what Obama, the Democratic Party, and “deep state” bureaucrats did to Trump.”

    4. @Apple Pie Democrats want a Marxist revolution. They want to turn the USA into a Third World Marxist hellhole, like they did in California.

  8. Gerry Springer is right: If Trump is reelected, Americans will be the biggest fools of the world. Not aobut him rather about us Americans.

  9. People mad that Jerry Springer had the nerve to point out that the Executive Branch of the United States government shouldn’t act and sound like his show.

    1. Insig 360: Absolutely. Trump supporters can’t tell the difference between a silly piece of entertainment, like Springer’s show or Trump’s _Apprentice_ show, and reality, or they prefer a reality based on Springer’s or Trump’s show because it makes them feel superior to whomever. The whole point of those two shows was for the viewers to look down on someone else and dismiss them as worthless, either despising them or laughing at them. If only Trump supporters believed in the Bible they claim to adore and the Declaration of Independence and Constitution they tote around. They tell us they do, but other words they speak and actions they take call into question the sincerity of their allegiance to those documents. In our nation, according to its secular principles and laws, everyone is created equal. There are practical advantages to building a nation in which everyone feels they have an equal stake, as opposed to an aristocracy, where the 1% have all the advantages and the other 99% are forced into accepting a system in which they have no stake, but the moral underpinning of our laws comes from our Judaeo-Christian heritage. The intelligent thing to do is not to have any group feeling superior to any other, but it is also the moral thing to do. Trump is leading our nation in an unintelligent and also immoral manner. His lack of civility (while whining about criticism of himself) is both unintelligent and immoral. We must not embrace it.

  10. Trust Jerry Springer to deliver the Euphemism of the Year: “…When Leaders Misbehave…” Good gracious, golly gumptious! 1. Leader? Yes…of a Crime Family!” 2. “…misbehave?” Nah. That’s what a toddler does in his / her diaper during toilet training lessons. We are talking about the [t]Rump…an individual who is capable of making Satan blush. His level of depravity, avarice, lasciviousness, corruption – to name but a few – is a scourge upon society! FIRE him!

  11. I believe those boos went around the world; and I feel that it’s important for the world to know that he did not win the majority and that we Still don’t approve of him. I see the boos as being no different than that which is given in England’s House of Commons. We did not riot when he took the WH; we boo-ed him. How much more civil can we be when someone legally steals something from us.

    1. Booing the President at MLB games has a long history. Nothing new. There have always been people who’ve had a beef with the President. I like the one about President Hoover, during the depression years. Many folks in the crowd chanted ‘We want beer’.

    2. Heard the boos in London too🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧 and enjoyed every second of it🙋🏾‍♀️🙋🏾‍♀️

    3. The world knows… how many times does one turn the other cheek. The world sees the Trump rallies and we are appalled. Booing the unpresidential peach or even chanting “lock him up” is Karma. It is “treat others how you wanted to be treated yourself”. He is crossing every line there is for years and it is enough.

  12. “It is not Trump. A country that elects a Trump is already in serious trouble.” E Warren
” Every nation deserves its government.” K Marx
