(those two were having an affair)…This was the worst whitehouse Admin in history. CRONYISM at its finest, anyone with that was qualified to work there eventually resigned. what a mess.
Now we see the GOP gladly catering to Trump’s delusions about his election “victory.” Such prominent politicians as Sens. Lindsey Graham and Ted Cruz and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo are eagerly following along. Their lies too will linger and sow bitterness for years.
They have shown that winning — even flattering Trump’s fragile ego — means more to them than the survival of our democracy. How long can we go on as a democracy with one of our two great parties in the hands of such people will be the urgent question of the coming years.
I don’t know if Trump has technically done anything illegal with regard to his “post-election campaign” to baselessly delegitimize the results. It seems to me that calling election officials in Michigan and summoning them to the White House would be illegal or at least a major ethics violation. But if he crosses that line one inch, Congress should censure him immediately. This is an attempt to subvert the foundation of democracy itself.
Of course most, if not all Republicans would vote against censure, but it would force them to stand up and be counted on this issue – Right before the incoming Democrat President who will sign their bills takes office.
Graham, Cruz, McConell et al are not afraid of Trump. They are afraid of the 71 million people who voted for Trump, people they want in their corner when they are up for re-election. So their strategy is just to stay silent on the Trump circus.
