The smart republicans I know acknowledge that climate change is real, but either don’t see it as an immediate threat or dislike the solutions the left puts forward, which are often very expensive and make a tiny difference. As far as calling Christian values or anti-islam identity politics, I disagree with you there too. These are ideologies, not identies. I define identities as things we can’t change such as race or gender – and seeing as we cannot change them, it’s not fair to discriminate on those grounds. You can however change your ideological stand-point, so criticising a belief system like islam or christianity is fair game as far as I’m concerned.
