Thank you for raising Clinton’s efforts to balance the budget and remove the huge debt. I was working for FEMA during the Clinton Presidency. As a Federal manager, it meant we had to find a way to cut our budgets by 10% each year. The President’s Disaster Relief Funds were never cut though. As a worker, it was hard, but as a taxpayer, I truly appreciated the efforts. I am appalled that people believe Trump’s rhetoric that he caused the greatest economic prosperity then discounts the near and long-range complications of borrowing and random tariffs TWEETED without consultation with his own secretaries of Commerce, Treasury, FDIC etc. (Since when did tweets replace official correspondence in laying out actions and policies.) Americans reminisced about Pres Clinton’s Impeachment, they neglect to consider what a feat that was to pay all MidEast war bills and get us to a position of budget surpluses. Pres Clinton and VP Gore also went through a huge initiative to consolidate programs, find what we were doing that should have been handed off to the private sector, what was a combined effort and what was inherently government to do. President George W. Bush walked into a government operating in the black, but a few months later, 9/11 triggered unrestrained funding on forming DHS and re-entering the Mid-East on fallacious data and causing the budget to balloon again. Trump will leave our children and grandchildren with an awful bill to repay just so the optics made it seem he was a financial wizard. This is why Trump has gone all the way to the Supreme Court to stop orders to provide his tax returns for the past 8 years. If he was a wizard, he would see these documents as vindication. However, I suspect this has been the typical cycle of boom and bankruptcy of his own enterprises.

They embraced Globalization and allowed China to build a Financial and industrial Economic Base. They gave borrowed money away to other Countries while the US Debt increased. President Trump’s aim is to make Washington work for the US People. He has already renegotiated Deals with Japan, China (ongoing), EU, Poland, Hungary, Mexico/Canada and so on. His next move is Health Care. Today he placed money into Mental Health and a New Housing Plan. Black and Latino Communities will benefit $8 Billion including free School access for children.

@BigD Some truth in your comment as well; however, the 3 instances of impeachment I’ve lived through each has their own unique set of circumstances. One thing they all have in common: they all broke the law. Nixon’s impeachment happened at the end of 6 years as president; the actions for what he was impeached began in 1972 with the investigation starting in early 1973. Clinton’s investigation started in 2995, culminating with a perjury charge for lying about a woman he hadn’t met until after the initiation of an investigation for an illegal eal estate scheme- no indictments from Whitewater. The current president’s issue has been in real time; he could have been considered for impeachment by the house for Mueller’s investigation but Pelosi chose a political calculus instead of her Constitutional duty. Ukraine started actually in March of this year with Zelinskyy’s election and from July on we have witnessed criminality in real time.

Balanced budget amendment was part of Contract of America constructed by Newt Gingrich. Bankruptcy comes from high expenses and low income. Dems always push for higher expenses, more programs, bigger bureaucracy.
It’s all stuff that everyone knows, but it’s still rather satisfying to watch Joe rant about GOP hypocrisy
