@Melissa Holley Thank you for a civil response. I am sorry to hear of your diagnosis and hope your treatment is effective.
While I certainly accept that some persons who are incarcerated will never be able to contribute to society or even want to I don’t believe that is the majority. In the US you have systemic issues which keep people in prison (e.g. three strikes) despite the severity or lack of the offences, the fact that prisons are run for profit and use inmates as effectively slave labour. All of that is horrible and partly responsible for the high rates of recidivism. But when are these people free to return to society? You say you became a felon 20 years ago and from what you wrote I don’t think you are still in prison. When are you no longer a felon? Do you still see yourself as one? That’s the attitude I see in many Americans that once a felon always a felon and to me that is unacceptable treatment of your fellow humans.
@Dominic Greer Indeed I do think of myself that way. I did no time but, a year pretrial being submerged in shame & burning bridges with family , business, & housing relationships. One year house arrest & 3 yrs of probation (which you are billed handsomely for). There are evidently gradations in felonies. Classes of themA,B,C,D. After conviction you dont hear about degrees of gut anymore.
It was STRESSED to me that this was a lesser offensive felony in order to persuade me to take a “plea”.
THERE is the real problem. The whole ordeal is just an auction off of your self esteem.

Fear mongering. Trump won FL by 1.2% in 2016 and the state was called for him around 11pm ET b/c all ballots must be received by Election Day. So if Biden wins by about 2% in FL, the state will be called for him that night. And if Biden wins FL, the race is pretty much over.
