  1. Sidetracked. I had my eyes closed. He sounds like Denzel. And that sucks the infrastructure has not been updated. I will go out on a limb and say institutional racism is a contributing factor. Mississippi gets a lot of aid.

  2. Shocks me that we blame our representatives when we vote them in as a reflection of our wants. It’s our fault.

    1. @Brent Spiner I haven’t nor will I give a first or second thought of how you voted in the last election.

    1. @Bill Kaldem β€œI wouldn’t call us the most radical city to date,” Lumumba said – Politico

  3. Why in tarnation πŸ€” isn’t there a treatment system soaking up the floodwaters and filtering for storage and future use…?

(Water, water everywhere and not a drop to drink!!!)

  4. But for years you all received taxpayers money which should have been enough to stay in front of this crisis. Shameful greed and corruption. πŸ’° πŸ€‘ πŸ’Έ

    1. Did they collect sufficient taxes from the wealthy corporations? Was it at a sufficient level to fix it?

    2. Troubleshooting, maintenance and upgarding the system would have never let this happen. Just like you do your car. Is the electrical grid next? Kicking the can down the road never will fix anything.

  5. There is plenty of infrastructure and water in greater Jackson. Works great. It’s just it is all east of the Pearl river in Rankin county (75% white) where all the white people live. Jackson proper is on the west side of the river in Hinds county. Which is 75% black. So the tax base in Hinds county is super low. The tax base in Rankin county is much, much higher. Which is also why 30+ years of deferred maintenance and short staffing in Jackson proper water system. While Rankin county’s system is almost brand new.

    1. They should have raised taxes years ago to address these issues. There is a price to pay for “Living Cheap.”

  6. The city management of Jackson is 100% to blame. Had you added only $1 to monthly water bills, you would have enough revenue to completely replace all above ground water infrastructure. Mismanagement is to blame.

    1. @Robert Johnson okay we are talking about Jackson not the entire state. Water maintenance in Rankin County is fine cause they vote red, have money, and are mostly white. They got financial aid from the state even though they are one of the wealthiest counties in the state meanwhile in Jackson…….this is about state neglect of impoverished communities its not just about water quality.

    2. @Franz Joseph the majority of the people failed to hold the city leaders feet to the fire and demand the repair or replacement of the water system. You get what you vote for

    3. @Bill Kaldem no, once again the city doesn’t have the funds for fixing literally decades worth of neglect. Either the state or Feds have to doi cause its that bad and expensive. Holding the mayor accountable is meaningless if he isn’t the guy who wields the real money.

    4. @Franz Joseph that’s still a mayor problem, he has the power to raise funds through the council, and he’s the one that makes the budget about where money goes. this guy literally ordered a water truck in front of his mansion, not a great look

    5. @ZER0 you mean the governor did that Jesus. Dude literally brought a tanker also the state has more funds and were warned for decades.

  7. DEMAND the Army Corps of Engineers to investigate and assist this crisis in Mississippi.

The USA sent 68 BILLION to the Ukraine and we have our own citizens SUFFERING through these types of events? THERE’S NO EXCUSE!
