I love how the judge spends a minute to thank the jury profusely while Potter just stands there.

@Jason Hillman so thank Potter. Wright murdered his friend, she committed manslaughter of a murderer who was violent and had a lifelong track sheet of crimes like robbing a women at gun point. Wright is a murderer.

Honestly, I have two feelings here. On the one hand, I feel for Ms. Potter: All the evidence shows she didn’t mean to kill him; it was a horrible mistake. On the other, cops in this country need to calibrate their use of force better, and this case reinforces that necessity. Even the deployment of a taser should be considered unnecessary use of force in this case. If this was Europe, I have no doubt the young man would be alive today.

I mean NO disrespect to the Judge, truly, but if she had a show like Judge Judy (with more class) I would watch it. She has a strong, but gentle and professional presence. Her voice is so soothing, but you can tell she is no-nonsense, like a Mutha!!
She is guilty of manslaughter. She didnt kill him on purpose and thats why its not a murder trial. Manslaughter is accidental killing. She does deserve jail time but as for how much im not sure. She was a trained law enforcement officer and these mistakes just cant be made. If we let her go scott free other officers with real malicious intent will just take advantage. I hope the judge makes a fair decision when sentencing and that ultimately police training and education is increased to prevent more terrible accidents like this from happening again.

@Paulina M Wright killed a man. He robbed and had committed many violent crimes many involving firearms.
No she made a mistake but your analogy does not work. She was confronting a very violent man and he unpredictable and very much not running away and even if he did run he could run and cause more harm. Here’s a better analogy, a school shooter is running away but a police officer tried to use a taser but used a gun, are they in the wrong? Yes in this moment Wright was not killing but if he left he had the possibility and the record to be violent that he could kill more people. He was very much a threat.
@WgcDs7 JyG She was found guilty on two manslaughter counts. One carries a 7yr sentence. She will get at least 10yrs….get out after 5-6yrs. Far too light a sentence.
I know plenty of cops, some have been in this same situation and they knew the difference between a gun and a taser. 26 years of basically doing the same thing every day and you’re excuse was you didn’t know…..
No cop draws his gun and taser every day for 26 years.

@Artavia Anderson mistakes can happen, best thing is to do is not flee after having violent crimes and warrants for your arrest in loving firearms. Wright was no angle.
Tasers have not been around for 26 years and many agencies are barely getting it or don’t have them at all.
This judge is very calm, direct and certain of her decision.

She was found guilty of taking a life, whether on purpose or by accident. You cannot risk allowing her to stay out of jail until sentencing.

@ TimeMachineKid I know. She’s perceptive, intelligent, and knows the law, unlike the defense attorney, Earl Grey. I found him more than annoying. Did you see when Grey was questioning the use-of-force expert, Seth Stoughton? Just because Grey disagreed with him, he totally disrespected him. I’m surprised the State didn’t object. Grey was yelling at Stoughton — very amateurish. Grey again shouted at Stoughton saying “It’s a yes or no answer!!” after the judge had already stated that if a “yes” or “no” cannot accurately express your answer, a witness doesn’t have to answer with a yes or no. So Stoughton replied to Grey ” I can’t answer your question accurately with just a “yes” or “no..” So Grey shouted at the top of his lungs “THEN DON’T ANSWER IT!” He’s a nutcase.

When the judge said she’ll be in to thank the jury personally and as the jury walked out she rolled her eyes! Dumb move!!! Reserve the eye rolling until after you hear your sentence! I think that’s why the judge was so quick to revoke her bail.
Of the judge was just egotistical and also she took the bail because she wanted brownie points with the media and the sheep which she clearly got.
Her own testimony hurt her. How do you conveniently forgot about what you said about going to jail but remember everything else. On top of that there was not one tear that fell from her eye when she was fake crying.
Can you imagine how her fast her heart must have been beating when the judge was about to announce if she could bail out til sentencing?!

I feel manslaughter fits this tragic thing. This came about from several avoidable things. For one that officer that initiated the arrest and left that car door open was negligent. He should carry a large part of fault here. This offender did something very unreasonable by attempting to jump in the car most of all. But this former officer reaching on the wrong side to pull a gun was negligent. A taser is colored for this reason. NOT TO GET THEM MIXED UP.

I’m sure Daunte Wright would like to be out (of the grave) to be able to spend the holiday with his family as well. These people are something else. If you don’t want to be locked up, don’t kill people, if it truly was an accident, be more careful.
Justice is served . She was a 26 year pro , That taser and that gun is totally different . She messed up and knew it .
