I agree with you Gin. It’s better here than in a lot of countries, especially some places in Africa & the middle east. I honestly believe that if a majority of men in this wonderful country (USA) could get away with it we’d have some version of the handmaiden’s tale right now. It would be hard at this point to pull it off because so many women have weapons and they know how to use them, plus American women on a whole don’t like to be bossed around, especially ones that have decent jobs and are educated.

I agree that women are held to a higher standard when it comes to politics. Plus I don’t believe the USA is ready for a woman to take the reigns in this country. For some reason even a lot of women and that includes women in both parties don’t feel comfortable with a female having that kind of power when powerful men still exist (LOL). I’d be surprised if we had a female USA POTUS in my lifetime. Only time will tell. Another thing is lots of men and women don’t like taking orders from a woman. When a powerful woman leads in a powerful position a lot of people think she is going beyond her place in the Patriarchal hierarchy. Unfortunately some habits and beliefs die hard. I wish it weren’t so though.

Democrats, or perhaps the DNC, don’t want the more reasonable candidates to head the ticket. I don’t really know why, but they don’t They’ll get rid of Klobuchar and Gabbard like they have other middle of the road candidates. I suspect that’s because the DNC has a low opinion of voters. They want candidates for simpler people. Tulsi Gabbard scares them. She’s physically attractive, good on her feet, and displays some reasoning. Somehow, she’s a threat rather than an asset to the DNC.
If you can win this race you can win it. If you (unlike Warren, Harris, Gabbard) believe winning means you must reach a higher standard, and you believe you can win, then reach that higher standard. Simples!
Of course if you can’t reach the standard, and therefore cannot win – drop out.
Look to the US women’s soccer team. Work hard, fight and win – if you have what it takes. If not – get off the pitch. But know this – with the – it’s tougher for women – attitude, that soccer team wouldn’t even let you hand out their bottled water – never mind the rest of us allowing you run the country.

Women in power do tend to do very well. As a gender, we are taught from our earliest days to talk and work well with others. Remember, American women ran this whole country during WW2 with little male help because we could organize and work together so well. We don’t need to be nasty about it. We simply need to claim it as our right. We have the skills, temperament, education and experience. As long as we don’t have a bunch of fuddy duddy old men in our way, we’ll be fine.
Little male help? You mean the hundreds of thousands whose disposable young lives were used as cannon fodder didn’t help the national security? I would much rather run a school in seattle during WW2 than watch the bodies of young men torn asunder left and right of me or hear them cry out their mother’s or wives or children’s names with their last agonizing breath as they writhed in pools of their friends blood.
I would hope that women are held to a higher standard. They are the reason we have what life we have on earth.
