  1. Kind of hard to believe they didn’t hear about the dollar figure till they heard it on the news. I call BS. And apparently so does the rest of Canada

  2. give that 50 mil back to the Canadian taxpayers that you stole from before you tuck your tail and hit the bricks

    1. @john15008 Maybe not the whole $50M but charities give out tax receipts and means they get to conduct their business without paying the full tax meaning we the taxpayers subsidize the charity. And no government should not be “donating” taxpayer’s money to charities but they do and those donations are not presented as election issues.

    2. @Andrew Sarossy I’ve sat on the board of a charity for more than a decade. ALL registered charities give out tax receipts but the charity is compelled to spend a significant proportion of their receipted donations on charitable activities fulfilling their mandate (disbursement quota). Does this mean lost revenue for the government? Yes, but it provides an incentive to donate. We could give in to the hype and pass judgment on WE but only an audit by CRA and the Charities Directorate can determine if the charity has actually done something wrong. All charities file an annual return to maintain their status so an audit can happen at any time.

    3. @john15008 All you have written here was to explain the charity system. To restate my point, Governments have no right to pick a charity of their choice and give it taxpayers money. That is not the role of government. And I am not giving in to hype. I watched the committee hearings and listen to the news interviews by the Kielburgers and their responses were lame and nondescript. They had the PM, his wife and his mother on their stage and then say they don’t even know how to contact the PM, utter nonsense. As for CRA audits, Trudeau neutered the CRA for that sort of thing years ago. Financial accountability at any level is not in the liberal mindset….ever.

    4. @Andrew Sarossy You are quite ill-informed about the scope of charities, my friend. For example, would you consider the Alzheimer Society a worthwhile organization? It’s a charity and receives government funding to run a multitude of programs. This is common place. As for the Trudeaus, like them or hate them, there is zero evidence that they would have benefited in any way from the WE contract. As far as Trudeau himself “neutering” charities, unless you have a reference to back this up, that’s pure nonsense. In the years I’ve been involved with a charity, rules haven’t changed much and returns submitted to CRA have been essentially the same. If something is detected when WE gets audited, THAT will be news.

    5. @john15008 The scope of charities or how worthwhile they are is not the topic of conversation. It is not the role of government to give select charities taxpayer’s money. It is unethical and unfair. WE charities has received monies from both conservative and liberal governments and WE charity as made contributions to the liberals so yes Trudeau has benefited from the relationship. I did not state Trudeau himself neutered charities, his government restricted the CRA’s ability to conduct proper audits per a Toronto Star article May of 2017. Liking or hating Trudeau irrelevant. The conservatives were just as underhanded per a Globe and Mail article Nov of 2014. I despise all unethical politicians. What rules charities follow or how they conduct their business is of no concern to me. I am concerned with how the government spends my taxes, a point to which you have yet to address. I think I am quite informed.

  3. WE charity registers to lobby federal government in August and packs its tent in September. Freeze their assets until there is a full investigation into their activities/relationships with the Liberal government.

  4. The only reason they’re leaving Canada is because they have irreparably damaged their brand. Why leave if you have done nothing wrong?

    1. No the reason they’re leaving Canada is because they’re trying to hide something, Trudeau prorogued parliament to allow his buddies a little time to Burn it all to the ground… and now they’re claiming they’re going to be continuing their operations around the world With the money sold from the real estate dealings in Toronto, but I think we’d see a little proof of that actually happening…

  5. Their reputation is completely destroyed here in Canada. Seen this coming. Not surprised. They will just move on somewhere else and rip off someone else. That is what career scammers do.

  6. naive……right. Buying up a block of downtown Toronto, and getting almost enough funds for it from Canadian tax payers…..you knew exactly what you were doing.

  7. These guys are so phoney! They got caught, their books were in shambles according their former CEO, who they asked to step down when she questioned their accounting practices…

    1. So they really needed the $900m ? To bad Trudeau couldn’t deliver what he promised to his friends. Will they avoid criminal charges ? Stay tuned.

  8. I don’t believe a word these crooks are saying. Please tell me how does a cheraty own $51 million dollar in assets crooks crooks

  9. Kielburgers are Devastated? More like laughing all the way to the bank. Realistically, they should be prosecuted for their decades of corruption.
