Robert Kelly has been treated in the most agregious way in his own country. He is currently incarcerated, but not convicted of any crimes. He has serious health condition which make him especially vulnerable if he contracts Covid. He has applied for bail via his legal team, sighting his health conditions, on three different occasions and been turned down each time. He is currently waiting to hear about an appeal on his last bail refusal. The judge in this case, is unflinching and unconcerned about Robert’s health woes. This is despite knowing about Robert’s surgeries and his diabetes condition, which make him a perfect candidate for susceptibility for Covid. Everyone knows this. The question is, why is this judge hell bent on keeping Robert incarcerated and refusing bail?. She knows he needs to prepare for his case from the outside. The case itself is suspect to say the least. The “evidence “ is compromised. The so called “sex-tapes” have traveled all over the News rooms, have been handled and mishandled by a convicted felon and are over 20 years old. The jury pool has, without question, been tainted with misinformation and harmful lies by News outlets and prosecutors. Yet, there is a request from prosecution to not only have the jury sequestered, but also apply anonymity. This request is very suspect when viewed along side all the laws that have already been broken. The linchpin of this indictment is as a result of a TV show “Surviving…” yet nearly everyone of the participants has a wrap sheet as long as my arm and their lies have been proven over and over again. Zero credibility, has been found in each and every single one of their stories. They are basically criminals that Lifetime paid to appear on the show and spew lies taken from a fictional book written by a woman called Kash Jones. All this will be proven in court without a doubt. In the meantime, Robert’s health is failing as he sits in a Covid infested prison an INNOCENT man. Refused his basic human right to defend himself on the outside. Yet his president is turning a blind eye to this mans plight and pain. Also the pain of those of us that care about him and are suffering as a result of baring witness to the biggest injustice and misuse of the law of our lifetime.
We are in a #BlackLivesMatter climate. It is only fitting then to extend the meaning of this message to ALL black people in need of its message and action it with our deeds. I say to everyone reading this, Robert Kelly is all of us. His injustice is our injustice. We must stand together for this man. We must SPEAK with our vote. If President Trump does not think Robert is worth saving, then that speaks to the value of all people of colour. Make no mistake, if Robert the super star, was Caucasian, this would not be happening to him. This is why we must use our vote and the #BlackLivesMatter message to impact change.
