Laurence Tribe: Trump “Is Not Above The Law And He Will Learn His Lesson” | The Last Word | MSNBC

The White House tried to justify its refusal to comply with Democrats' subpoenas by claiming that their impeachment inquiry is unconstitutional. Laurence Tribe explains to Lawrence O'Donnell why that White House argument is "legally vacuous" and would rebuffed by the courts for putting the president above the law. Aired on 10/08/19.

    1. Let’s just hope that The Russians aren’t the Ones who will be making our “New” Amendments from now on. ‘Never thought I’d see the day where our own Constitution would be challenged to this degree.

And much less did I think that I’d be watching Those, who would so easily throw away our National Security for a bid at another term. It seems like such a lame and thoughtless thing to do in exchange for something so dangerous.

    1. @Goddess Sky do you vote? i bet you always vote for the incumbent. bet your problem is with the other guy. term limits remove choice for the american voter. if the american voter wants morons in office…they deserve morons in office
      POWER TO THE PEOPLE

    2. Dont need term limits, we need to outlaw private money in politics. No private campain donations and outlaw PACs.

  1. So many years ago. We can’t expect Lindsay Graham to remember his own arguments against the White House and Clinton. He’s a politician for God’s sake! He only remembers what is important to be reelected!!

    1. @Harvey3rdman ~ Artem Sytnyk, Director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, admitting that he tried to boost the presidential campaign of Hillary Clinton by sabotaging then-candidate Donald Trump’s campaign.

The connection between the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and the Ukrainian government was veteran Democratic operative Alexandra Chalupa, “who had worked in the White House Office of Public Liaison during the Clinton administration” and then “went on to work as a staffer, then as a consultant, for Democratic National Committee.”

    2. @Harvey3rdman ~ Pelosi’s refusal to have an official full House impeachment inquiry vote in Congress, is the only way the Democrats can stop the Republicans from expanding the scope of the impeachment inquiry…

    3. @zbudda Artem Syntyk is a known liar who has faced multiple charges within the Ukraine. Surprising that you would take his word and use it as a plausible defense in your argument. His ‘admittance’ is far from proof.

Once again guilt by association does not pass muster as proof. You need more than innuendo and conjecture to prove illegal malfeasance.
These are both weak presentations of the argument you present.

    4. @Harvey3rdman~ This latest Acme impeachment plan by the democrats is actually hogging the spotlight from AG Barr’s investigation into the origins of the Russian Investigation.

United States Attorney John Durham is expanding his investigation into the origins of the FBI’s counterintelligence probe into Russia and the Trump campaign after his team reportedly made significant discoveries.
Based on what he has been finding, Durham has expanded his investigation adding agents and resources, the senior administration officials said. The timeline has grown from the beginning of the probe through the election and now has included a post-election timeline through the spring of 2017, up to when Robert Mueller was named special counsel.”

    5. @zbudda The Republicans are attempting to widen the scope of the investigation to the degree of being pointless. You even state that the impeachment inquiries against this President to expand to donations to the Clinton Foundation from 6-8 years ago.

At the same time you agree with the sentiment that this inquiry should be limited to only certain aspects [an only the ones that the Trump Administration deem worthwhile] when it comes to investigating the actions and/or gathering testimony from those directly involved in what is easily proven as a Presidential ‘shake-down’ of a newly elected President of a foreign allied country for personal political gain.

This only make sense in a world that wishes to obfuscate the basic illegal activities of an elected official whose sworn job is to protect the interest of ALL of the United States…not just himself.

    1. @Trumpenstein Obama changed our constitution with the national security act they took away many freedoms of many citizens and that’s not the first time they’ve amended the Constitution they’ve done it many times they just hope that the sheeple of this country don’t pay attention

    2. They are not politicians.

Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, or any other, or none at all, hey are partisans, not politicians.

Although politics like any other activity be done well or poorly, politician is in itself a worthy and honorable occupation.

    1. mark anderson

That clip of him should be shown everywhere, everyday. It’s so clearly the republicans who are “playing politics”.

    2. He was on a ridiculous high horse, back then. He has no integrity, so when it’s convenient, his morals go out the window.

  2. As an Australian I find inconceivable that the US legal system has Supreme court appointees that are chosen and favoured because of their political bias. That goes against everything that is NEEDED for the autonomy of the law and the legal system. You can’t have outcomes of Supreme court hearing being determined based on which POTUS put them onto the Supreme court bench. It literally takes away the independence of the Supreme court.

    1. redrock1963 Australians are the best!!! I’m not Australian but I sure find them funny and good natured.

    2. clearly you missed the part of this video where Tribe stated that even the current judges will be incredulous and will rebuff this president’s attempt to be above the law. I wont hold my breath though.

    3. Well, at this point it is impossible to escape political bias in the US. Every goddamned thing is now subject to left-v-right politics, and the right in particular has become a lot more extreme over the years, no doubt thanks in part to ongoing Russian influence.

    1. @Jacquella Walker I gotta tell you jacquella I don’t see the Democrats beating him in this election. This comes directly after the Russian collusion failed investigation. It looks like piling on . Weather it is or not the people seem to this so..also the Democrats are way to the left on many issues. I think trump will be re-elected in a huge landslide

  3. I hope U eat your words Linsey Graham, I Lived in South Carolina for 15 yrs, your job is not stable, keep putting that tail between your legs an see how far you get!!!!!

  4. The whole problem with 45 is that he has never learned a lesson, not in 70 plus years. My hope is that this lesson will be so hard he can’t get out of it.

    1. @T McAuliffe Trump is literally trying to change what we define as morals and ethics. It’s unnerving because there are so many like him. I expect him to declare he isn’t leaving office at all, anytime.

    2. @Spitfire’s Take they should be held in fort levingworth until this is done in court. Military’s police should jail trump the TRATIOR.hes technoloy hes miltrayr hes has military’s protection. So protect him in fort LEAVENWORTH.

  5. Excellent coverage with Laurence Tribe. I listened intently as he clarifies congress’s role of impeachment. We are impeaching a con. He is sabotaging our country for his own profit. Send them home. Impeach now

    1. Oh yeah sure, he only is in the top 5 in most successful person in the world. He is dumb your right lol

    2. @Sizzle The Stozzle hes top 5? He filed for bankruptcy about 4-5 times. His casino, xfl and resort were a disaster. I think what people mean is that he wont learn his lesson as far as knowing he can’t always do what he wants and get away with it.

  6. I don’t care what the president wants.
He needs to follow the laws just like everyone else.
    The End

    1. 90’s, but yeah. He was full of it then & he’s full of it now. Graham goes which ever way the wind blows.

    1. @Sizzle The Stozzle Yeah we do….. where there is smoke there is likely fire. There has been smoke surrounding Trump for decades.

    2. @Sizzle The Stozzle if one were to take insights from the many documentaries and books written about him, yes.

    3. @Kristopher Ryan that propaganda has nothing to with now. There are books and documentarys about jesus too.
