@tonupharry We were boiled alive like the frog. This is a drop in an ocean of horrible things sayed out loud. Our politicians have a huge variety of techiques for the aftermath of saying something shamefull in public:
– deny, deny, deny (this is very berlusconi);
– distract with enemies for the public opinion;
– play the victim. This was and still is mr. Berlusconi main tactic. When he was in charge the enemy was the magistrature that he claimed to be “red” or “lefty” and against him. Mr. Salvini also uses this techinque and it is the favorite one by the fascists, wich are now the main party (the party changed names, but most of the people is the same). They claim to be victims of what they call “pensiero unico”. In their view, they are persecuted for their ideas.
So: it’s not that easy. We are used to this. Nothing is a “Scandal” with capital letter anymore.

Just before our government fell, her position on the matter was to blame Nato and interrupt weapons deliveries to Ucraine. Many Italians are tremendously embarrassed by the statements contained in this audio and I take this opportunity to express my total closeness to President Zelensky and the Ukrainian people.
Unfortunately, Berlusconi is an elderly man, who often does not seem to be completely lucid, and does not realize the gravity of things he says.
But, to tell the truth, I think this is not the worst of all evils: the first act carried out by the new majority was to indicate, as the second and third most powerful position of the state, a person of fascist derivation background (La Russa), of whom he even boasts, and another one with openly homophobic tendencies, pro-Putin and sympathizer of far-right criminal organizations such as Golden Dawn (Fontana).
An old Italian proverb says “good morning starts in the morning” and therefore I believe these appointments are the faithful representation of what awaits us in the next few years.
