I totally respected Reagan,, mostly respected Bush Sr. Yada yada….. You have to trust the folks you vote for… we are in a very bad time where the lunatic fringe have taken control (I like to call them the RINOs). I very much respect and appreciate what the Lincoln Project has done but have no illusions,, once this cancer is excised from Government they will promote Republicans. I totally don’t mind that. @Tamatik Canada I’m afraid you have got it all the wrong way around, the discrimination I’m talking about is primarily the treatment of Afro-Americans in this country, discrimination is not a pejorative term when it is used to better the situation of the oppressed and downtrodden in our society. Conservatives and white people [interesting that you put them together] haven’t been very proactive in righting theses wrongs as all the things you describe in brackets , affirmative action, ‘diversity’ and quota hires including etc [whatever etc means] have not been successful, mainly just perpetuating the victimization of minorities , as I see it.
I never wrote anything about being ‘college educated’, I said poorly educated and that mistake on your part is in itself a reflection of your paranoia regarding your position. I have no special regard for college educated people but I do feel for the poorly educated even though I know our President loves them.
If you think college is only useful if you learn “marketable skills “, that is so so sad, college is a place to gain intellectual enrichment,a place of learning and discursiveness never to be reduced to a place that offers “marketable skills”.That in a sense points up the very things that are wrong with our society. To say that Liberal Arts are useless is such an indictment of you as a person, they are not meant to be “marketable skills”, they are meant to be drivers of your intellect not something as you see it to be measured in pecuniary gain.
Having written all that, unlike a lot of people who hold your views , you appear to be literate and not especially abusive so I do welcome your comments .
