A leader’s compassion is only the minimum requirement. I imagine that if Biden (or anyone other that Trump, for that matter!) had been at the helm in the US one year ago, the situation in the US would be vastly different. The successful responses seen in parts of Asia and elsewhere (Taiwan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Iceland) would have been the norm, not an exception.
