    1. @Crimdor It’s a valid thing to note…. the problem isn’t so much on the health insurance end we can get coverage yet the prices are higher than they should be because the costs of heath care itself are too high, heathcare should not be so expensive that I requite insurance, it should merely be a good idea to get insurance not an absolute necessity. I should be able to walk into a hospital and pay the exact samet hing the insurance company would rather than being gouged for all I am worth without buying into an insurance protection racket. First step is that companies are required to publish costs for all procedures and if an insurance company argues that the cost should be lower, that cost should go down for everyone across the board, not just the clients of that insurance company.

    2. Chase Rayfield – yes except the USA is very large and the costs to make things and send them to places varies. Your point of view only works for countries smaller than the US.

    3. @Crimdor That point is only valid due to the deregulation that happened in the 1980’s allowing the health care industry to operate for profit. The introduction of HMO’s brought on an expansion of the health insurance industry. Also the failure (deliberate or not) to put limits on the pharmaceutical industry regarding pricing and advertising (that was not permitted before the ’80’s), helped by the loose patent laws made the current era of constant price gouging. The pharmaceutical corporations attempt to excuse their price increases with research and development…a very thin excuse that falls apart when the prices of drugs that have been around for decades are raised in the double and triple digit percentages. The other part of blowing up the R&D excuse is the fact that most of the research is underwritten by the NIH, and happens in university campuses, not drug company labs. The practice that needs to be stopped is our government basically gifting the patents of drugs developed with tax payer money in public universities. Most of the money spent by drug companies has been in advertising, not R&D.

  1. Yes you will because Americans are serious about healthcare. More than 70% so stop negating the significance of universal healthcare.

  2. Bottomline: People are exhausted with all this talk about health care. RIP OFF THE BAND-AID, and get it done. It’s not impossible. Trump gave trillions away to the wealthy class…and, we got nothing in return. It’s time for Americans to get Medicare for All. NO ONE CARES if it’s unreasonable…if there is a will…there is a way. We survived a world wide economic melt down…we will survive giving our selves BASIC health care. IT’S OUR TURN. We want a bail out! We deserve it. We want the socialism that the rich enjoy too!

    MEDICARE FOR ALL

    1. That’s right rip all the bandaids off and let the USA bleed out…sheesh. Insurance and Medicare are bandaids…high healthcare costs are the never healing would perpetuated by constantly tugging at them by politicians.

    2. Republicans had the house, senate and presidency and what did they pass given a good economy? A 14% tax cut for very profitable multinational corporations. Greed. Says it all.

  3. Never seem to hear the POV that you can have private insurance – in addition to MCFA.
It’s not an either or option.

    1. I lived in Scotland for about three years. They had national healthcare, but they also had a thriving private health care system. If you payed to have private healthcare, you could go to private hospitals. Get a single room, TV with hundreds of channels, great food and plenty of personal care. The more affluent people were very well treated, but the care was essentially the same.

  4. In her last election, Claire McCaskill, a lifelong squishy centrist, went right and lost to someone who was even further right. Why is she on my television lecturing about the dangers of going too far left? It’s absurd. Come on, MSNBC: #DoBetter

  5. If preexisting conditions are taken, so will my family members, TREAD LIGHTLY WHEN YOU COME FOR MY FAMILY!

  6. We need Healthcare for All, plain and simple. We are capable of working on this together to create positive outcomes for all parties involved. Imagine an industry which is efficient, compassionate, effective, and is able to have a profit in the (actual) good health for all Americans. How can that not be a desirable end? Cut the costs in half, have the outcomes soar, everyone covered, and still some return to those who invest in making this happen.

This has to happen with the climate crisis too.

    1. Which increased federal receipts over the 8 years of Trump by $9 Trillion – yes Trillion with a T.
If we repeal that tax cut, how are you going to pay for it?

  8. There is a reason that a single-payer system is not practical. It is the military budget. We spend more on the military than the next four nations do combined, and three of them are allies. Education, the silver bullet to almost every problem in our nation, is almost unfunded. Infrastructure spending is a joke. Military is funded 20 times higher than it needs to be to protect the US. I agree that we should overfund the military. We are a rich and powerful country. We should use some of that power to help our allies and those peoples around the world that can not keep themselves safe from nations of oppression and tyranny. That is what good people do for the defenseless and poor.

I have been to many places around the world (retired veteran) and seen many different forms of national health care. Everyone of them helped more people at less expensive cost and will better overall patient outcomes than we do in the US. I myself have single-payer healthcare, all veterans do to some extent. It’s not fancy with lots of amenities, but it is good. Every American deserves the outstanding healthcare I and my wife get.

  9. Medicare for all is cheapest and has best outcomes.. the only reason to vote against it is greed…

  10. Claire, “we’ve had bloodhounds out for replace. There is no replace, they have no replace.”👎.
Me, “we’ve had bloodhounds out looking(searching) for a replacement. There is no replacement, they have no replacement.”👍.
Claire, ” they got nothing to replace it with.”👍.
