Everyone is already laughing at our President, now they get to laugh at our legislators too?? Surely this has got to stop! Come elections, purge all the GOPs cos they wont listen to reason and abide by the Constitution. For Pence to succeed Trump, it means the impeachment WAS successful and therefore, Trump can NEVER hold any public office or position of power and trust. THIS MEANS HE CAN NEVER RUN FOR PRESIDENT AND CANNOT BE REELECTED!
John Monk, That specific provision or wording has to pass the House first and leaving it in as such may cost you Dims votes you need for it to pass. Particularly in the Senate.

@Annette Pora the supreme court should not have taken up this case because 2 lower court rulings ruled against the president. Usually unless there was a mistake made, the supreme court let stay the lower court rulings. If I’m wrong let me know. If the supreme court rules in trumps favor there are no equal branches of government. I’m sick to my stomach over where we are headed.

The latest polls all show that well over 70% of American voters now believe that tRump did commit crimes in his dealings with Ukraine. Those same people also expressed their feelings that tRump should be removed from office for those crimes.

This is like having a trial in a regular court and after the jury has been impaneled and before the trial starts the jury foreman stands up and says, “Your honor, we don’t care what the evidence is, we find the defendant not guilty.” Talk about a kangaroo court!

Saltponds239 No, what you just saw was the two hearing committees, admittedly headed by the Democrats because they are the majority, come to the conclusion that there was enough evidence to go forward for a trial in the senate, where – theoretically – Trump should then have had a fair trial with the senators as jurors. The first hearings were, like a police investigator/detective, to put together the case why it should be tried.
That happens before all courts.
The judgement they made was there was enough convincing evidence to go forward.
The fact that he won’t then be tried in the balanced ways courts are supposed to work is a failure, as it was in the house, of the Republicans to demonstrate the slightest impartiality, despite Trump having admitted guilt more than once. The strength of the Democrats is going through all that knowing how corrupt the Republicans are, as proven by Maconnell and any other Senator declaring they have already made up their mind.
As someone watching from overseas, I’m appalled by the solid wall of corruption now in the American government. It is sad to see the country that was once great follow the path of other dictatorships.
