  1. “Defund the Police” really means recognizing that our police are not trained to deal with the mentally ill.
We need to spend some of the money now spent on law enforcement and redirect it to people who ARE qualified addresses these issues.
When I was a cop the only tool I had for this was to arrest them and let the system handle it. We can do much better.

    1. @Grateful Fredly we haven’t had this level of unrest in most of my life. The 1960’s and 2020 unrest was fueled by cops treating protestors as criminals. Police don’t need military grade — leave it with the National Guard. As for Mental Health services, they have been defunded by our for-profit health care system and priced out of reach for too many Americans.

    2. Mental health calls are the most dangerous calls out there, think it’ll be safe for psychologists just because they want to help?

    3. @JJ Teacher Institutionalize them? Suggestions? Shouldn’t drive, own or buy weapons? They must be dealt with..

  2. I’m glad to see Ellison not taint any potential jury members by “trying” the Wright case in public. The less said one way or another is the legally ethical way to answer the question.

    1. perhaps you are just a troll but we live in a world where you are innocent until proven guilty. some allegations are lies. and he’s never been charged and he has no history of violence. I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt because that’s what we all should get when faced with allegations that may not be true.

  3. go sit with congress ….scott , booker are in a place where they talk, enjoying the limelight with the rest, players to the t

  4. John 8:44
Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

    1. Quoting scripture is pointless unless you can demonstrate that the Bible is true. And you are unable to do that.

    1. @stan marsh Hmm, I don’t know that to be true. Defund the police means reallocated bloated budgets to include mental health experts, community activities, and jobs assistance. Those things are working in cities that are doing them.

    2. @MPR ya but most criminals dont do crime cause of mental health issues some people are just bad people and you need more money for police to stop them i mean the proof is in the pudding in every city that tried defunding the police

  5. So agree with his point about loving America, not because she is perfect. But we pull towards the side of liberty and justice for all.

  6. No connection and crime hits all communities- excuses from certain segments of classism coupled with political motivations.

  7. WTF!? “A poll shows people are worried about increased violent crime…..should people be more worried?”

  8. Why are there so many hostile comments toward A.G. Ellisons’ dissembling of the draconian
    philosophy?

  9. Why does Tim Scott need to be convinced? He’s been racially profiled several times… Because he’s conservative, he doesn’t know what is important?
