You are paying these people with your taxes (if you are a US citizen or taxpayer) to do exactly what they are doing..
And you do that, because your society wants to know about all possible outcomes to take the correct measures to exist in the future.

@joe shoe the majority of the serious mutations/evolution of the virus actually occured in the first 6 months, it’s just that that was going into summer, so people were too dumb to notice!

@Vade1313 & you need to get your state borders closed, otherwise all your work is for nothing, as others will import it again as soon as you re-open & so they desire to travel there. That’s what we’ve done in Australia to eliminate it, closed all state borders, so that we can eliminate it state by state (then re-open the borders between states with no covid once done, currently all but WA open)

They do exist but it’s normal. Viruses mutate. It’s nothing to be afraid of at all. The vaccine will work against them and can be tweaked if it becomes less effective.
