NASA successfully crashed a spacecraft into an asteroid Monday, marking a win for the agency's plan for when a devastating asteroid should ever threaten humanity.

The 1,260-pound Double Asteroid Redirection Test spacecraft, or DART, collided with the estimated 11 billion pound, 520-foot long asteroid Dimorphos at 14,000 miles per hour close to 7 million miles from Earth.

  1. Not to be that guy, but…let’s hope this astroid wasn’t loved/owned by “Other beings” as there property….so…almost anything is possible in space…..so….let’s just hope it didn’t belong to anyone as it was hit. So….yeah. OR worse, the our celebration of altering the direction of the astroid could end up destroying a planet with life….and we kinda are responsible for it….so…if there are any beings out there keeping tabs on things being hit…it could raise an alarm with “Them” and they could make contact now…but we’ll see.

  2. This was a test run for Apophis MN4 – due to hit Earth in April of 2029 – known as project “Broken Mirror”
we only have 6.5 yrs left people – no need to make summer plans for 29’….

    1. @SpeedyWings2323 first report was by NASA of a 1/20 chance – after an outcry from the Pentagon – they quickly changed the public report to almost nil – the US Gov lies to prevent chaos – yet lately $21 trillion (2/3rds of the entire US Deficit) has disappeared without a trace. Maybe you should watch the movie “Don’t Look Up” – its based more on fact than fiction.
