New information furthers debate on Covid-19 pandemic origins

US intelligence report found that several researchers at China's Wuhan Institute of Virology fell ill in November 2019 and had to be hospitalized, a new detail about the severity of their symptoms that could fuel further debate about the origins of the coronavirus pandemic, according to two people briefed on the intelligence.
A State Department fact sheet released by the Trump administration in January said that the researchers had gotten sick in autumn 2019 but did not go as far as to say they had been hospitalized. China reported to the World Health Organization that the first patient with Covid-like symptoms was recorded in Wuhan on December 8, 2019.
The Wall Street Journal first reported on the intelligence surrounding the earlier hospitalizations.
Importantly, the intelligence community still does not know what the researchers were actually sick with, said the people briefed, and continues to have low confidence in its assessments of the virus' precise origins beyond the fact that it came from China. "At the end of the day, there is still nothing definitive," said one of the people who has seen the intelligence.

    1. Idk where you get half a brain but the only ones pushing Russian propaganda is conservatives. Pay attention and stop being a Facebook zombie.

    2. @Jamtommy Honestly, darling, I don’t even know what you’re talking about. I’m not deep enough in your conspiracy-nonsense-bunker-24/7 Q’anon brain-bubble to even know what you’re talking about. Legitimatelly, no clue. But I do find people like you funny 🙂

    3. @C. M. exactly. If we accuse countries on being the first to have it we really need to make sure they were the first. I learned that we, before covid, don’t bother figuring out new viruses when they pop up. Northern Maine in the fall of 2019 had a very nasty flu going around along with Canada on the other side of the river. Only thing that the doctors knew was it didn’t test positive for any flu they knew about. It killed some, it closed schools down to stop the spread. What if it was the beginning of covid? We need to be better at this whole thing for sure

    4. They’re reporting on new information. Not because of a “hunch”. Lab leak theory has been talked about since the beginning, but we’ve been locked out of China and couldn’t dig. The truth will come out.

    1. @Chuck Rambo Wait… I’m the guy who looks at something like this reporting critically and say, it shouldn’t just be blindly trusted and it should DEFINITIVELY not be seen as validation for conspiracy nonsense that has been peddled for the last year! I think of most people around here, I’m the most media critical person! If you haven’t noticed, there are so many people in this comment section who look at THIS reporting and just swallow it, hook, line and sinker, and just accept it as evident truth! I’m not. So, what are you talking about?

    2. @Chuck Rambo Ahm… and that’s funny… why? I mean, I get it, you’re probably not well educated when it comes to biology, but still: You do understand that evolution works in labs as well, right? I mean, some of the most dangerous pathogenes have formed in hospitals, not because doctors created them, but because that’s where you have the most selection pressure. And a lab would count for that as well.

So yeah… not sure what point you’re trying to make. But I don’t have the impression that you thought this through, have you? 😉

    3. @vampire64 remember when the democrats ignored covid and only cared about trying to impeach trump?

    4. @Jed Tenessee I never thought it didn’t come from a lab. I just understood Trumps standard of proof and habit of departure from truth didn’t make his declaration credible.

    5. @Jed Tenessee I’m glad with you on this one. If China did this we need to get that straight.

  1. “One year old information confirms what the ‘conspiracy theorists’ have been saying all along.” – There, I fixed your title.

    1. R John, let me pose a question to you. If you were a betting man, would you put your money on covid originating from:

      – a pangolin on a wet market which is 400 yards from a laboratory which houses one of the world’s largest collections of coronaviruses and which performs gain-of-function research, or
      – a laboratory which houses one of the world’s largest collections of coronaviruses and which performs gain-of-function research.

Place your bet, squire. I’ll give you even money on each option. Where’s your money going?

Let’s see if you can conclude, as many of us did last year, based upon logic and reason.

      Where’s your money, squire?

    2. not at all
Scientists in Spain have reported finding traces of the novel coronavirus in wastewater dating back to March 12, 2019

    1. Why do I feel that every ‘panel’ discussion on CNN is really just talking heads reading their scripts rather than sharing their personal ideas?

  3. Greater transparency from the chinese government, lmao.. right, I’m sure theyll get right on that

  4. so now this means CNN is about to get censored for spreading misinformation…. or is cancel culture somehow going to admit they are wrong? somethin tells me that will be the day 😉

    1. by “cancel culture” u mean the group is calling for canceling all people who’s not supporting the big lie, right?

  5. They will end up killing us all messing about with stuff like this. WTF is wrong with humanity testing out deadly virus’s

    1. China has been a reckless nation for 80 years, have you seen what they’ve done to Yangtze River. Their permanent leadership has shown no concern for human life, animal welfare or the environment.

  6. In China if one needs to see a doctor, you have to go to a hospital. There’s almost no doctor outside of a hospital .

  7. Do you remember Kim, telling Trump he was getting a birthday present? He could not keep a secret about the COVID virus. He had to give a vailed threat because he knew a secret. Come on folks, wake up.

  8. Flu rarely lands you in the hospital, so this many in such a small group is highly unlikely. People need to understand, though, that the Chinese people are also victims here.

    1. In 2019, 20,000 elderly people died of “flu” in USA. The vaping illness suddenly disappeared after coronavirus was identified.

  9. Luke montagnier Nobel prize winner on HIV research: vaccines are creating variants. He said it not me!

  10. This was already in the USA at the end of 2019! The “flu season” that year was rough. I was already wearing gloves at work and a face mask at certain times, due to my job at that time. People made fun of me with the gloves and mask, several months later, ALL the Karen’s at work looking like Mortal Kombat characters! A lot of us speculated this was a man-made “um, yeah, accident.” If you believe this was accidental, I’ve got ocean front property in the Arizona desert to sell…There is more to this, it’s sinister, we’re just at the tip of the iceberg now.

    1. yep, i believe it was used to bring in a great reset as klaus shwab WEF has openly said they want to restructure reinvent and capitalize on covid 19 …it doesn’t matter what party you are cause there all the same party ….control party
