  1. For the people who have no idea of what a mutation of a virus is; here is a start. A chihuahua is a dog, and so is a rottweiler, are they the same?

  2. Remember, if you had both your shots and the two weeks after, you can still carry the virus and give it to others. Like Trump.

    1. @bol nol The possibility of mask-related pneumonia exists, but I don’t find any data that suggests a notable incident of such.

And while masks do cost money, so does treating the health issues that not wearing a mask causes for others. Of course, the cost/benefit analysis needs to be done, but it doesn’t take much to tip it in favor of the mask.

    2. @bol nol You do know you can just spray the inside of the mask with 70% alcohol and let it to dry if you’re so afraid of “moisture inducing bacteria to grow” right?

    3. @Secret Moon spraying it with alcohol will make it moist which will damage the mask ESPECIALLY if it’s a paper one

    4. @bol nol Uhm, no. Have you ever used 70% alcohol? It evaporates very quickly, a dozen flaps and the mask is dry.
And who even reuses paper mask? If you want to use the mask many times, at least buy a decent one.

    1. @Ash Roskell Check with Tucker. I think he means a one party system with fake opersition. I was raised in Banana Republic it all started with fraudulent election. But China is Throwing Joe’s own Dirt at at him in Alaska, from BLm up and Fake elections. Joe may be work $10M x 10 for the Big Guy!

    2. @Angel Cantu
Dr. David Ho was a leading virologist whom helped control AIDS with his “triple cocktail” – 3 drugs combo approach.
He was Time’s 1996 Person of the Year.

  3. “New York (Covid) Coronavirus Variant Raises Concerns For Strength, Resilience” thereby motivating us, the people of America, to redouble our efforts to rapidly find out at any given moment, including even while On-Line, who among us are unwittingly contagious (i.e. pre-symptomatic or asymptomatic) in order to #ConvinceItForward for them to call their doctor and to self-quarantine per CDC guidelines in hopes of stopping this pandemic instead of having more #MourningInAmerica. Thus, we’re hoping for the best while preparing for the worse-case scenario of the #UKvariant strain(s) mutations and others like the South African, Brazilian, Californian & #Cluster5Mink mutations rendering current vaccines no longer effective.

    1. @wendy macmullen , I am simply wonderfully hungry and hope you, Wendy, and others reading my comment at the top, also have a healthy appetite too. So how are you ?

    2. @wendy macmullen, your not being able to reply appropriately over the past 4 hours since being greeted here means, Wendy, you’re #StatCOVID19Test **positive** indicating that it’s possible you’re unwittingly contagious (i.e. pre-symptomatic) needing to call your doctor & to self-quarantine per CDC guidelines.

  4. Thank you Velshi for the info you are always informative. Prople please keep wearing mask social distance and washing your hands.

    1. @Me Here I said that the rate of reduction is irrelevant, as long as the rate goes down, something that should be obvious from the rest of what I say.

That any action that reduces spread should be taken, (almost) no matter how small that reduction is.

    2. @Me Here and you are correct further in your statement that improper use of masks is not an effective way to curtail the spread. Hence I advocate using them correctly. Use hand sanitizer before and after touching your mask. And related to that, don’t touch the mask unnecessarily.

    3. @Lasse Aukio the security guard I spoke of DID use his n95 respirator correctly! That has been confirmed by medical experts watching every minute of his shift on CCTV cameras. A second security guard case in another state has also now been confirmed via CCTV cameras to have 100% complied with medical level use of PPE, no breaches at all in wear, touching, donning, doffing or fit testing. There was no “improper use” of the PPE responsible!

Further to that, stop being ridiculous in suggesting that it’s possible for everyone to comply with correct use! Everytime a respirator is touched it must be disposed of & replaced with a new one, with a maximum of 8 hours continuous use before disposal. Everytime a person has a drink of water, they must dispose of the n95 respirator & replace it with a new one. That would require a minimum of 1 billion n95 respirators a DAY in America alone! There is no-where near the facilities available to make that type of number! Distracting & pretending there is is why your country is in such a mess! It’s not about flooding the media with pressure for everyone to use placebos, it’s about NOT distracting with that nonsense & instead focusing on the actions that actually reduce spread! We didn’t even have a recommendation to wear them in public until December 2020 where I live & that was for 6 weeks, due to an outbreak in an area with 75% non-English speaking refugees & other low education people. Mandating their use allowed community leaders to very quickly identify who had missed the messaging & approach them for individual education, therefore eliminating covid from the community in under 3 weeks, despite it being a HIGHLY infectious variant that infected 60 people who spent under 5 minutes in a bottle shop & occurring at the busiest time of the year, with an estimated 40,000-80,000 people exposed to the same level of virus as had infected dozens & an inability to contact trace due to the short exposure period. The community leaders in that area did an INCREDIBLE job of getting the message out to everyone in the area & getting every person with ANY symptoms tested & getting the vast majority into informal home quarantine for 2 weeks & formal home quarantine with support for all family & later contacts of those that did test positive after the brief exposure. Really was an extraordinary achievement to wipe it out in such a short time without any formal lockdown or even increased restrictions on numbers at venues, but that’s what’s possible when people aren’t distracted by placebos & when everyone’s focused on REAL, effective actions & everyone’s had a year of education as to what those actions are ie never even a mention of masks until that moment, 100% focus on symptoms & testing then staying home if sick.

No it does NOT help to hijack the entire discussion with talk of a single placebo at the expense of education on GENUINE options to control it! Your population doesn’t even have a clue how it spreads & are incapable of reducing the spread due to this ignorance that has occurred due to the conversation hijacking from people like you

    4. @Me Here I am glad that things were taken in hand in your area. In saying that people ought to wear masks I’m not saying that other steps shouldn’t be taken.

With the security guards, you refer to incidents I am not familiar with. How was it determined that they got it on the job, as opposed to elsewhere?

You make valid points otherwise. I simply fail to see a compelling case against use of masks.

    5. @Lasse Aukio unfortunately though that is what you’re saying when pushing for masks. We saw that in Melbourne, compliance with quarantine directions dropped to only 10% when the mandate kicked in, even people who had been told they had covid decided it was safe to return to work, cause everyone, including them, would be wearing masks. There’s a very clear spike in daily cases on the exact day that the chief medical officer said they were anticipating the mandate to impact case numbers because of this! There’s only so many messages people can be given! The messages here are

      – wash your hands
      – stay 1.5 metres apart
      – if sick, get tested & stay home until recovered

Those 3 have been the messages to everyone from the very start & remain the message today, so no-one has any trouble following all of them.

The security guard I speak of are in Sydney NSW & Brisbane Qld. Sydney is the place with the clearest messaging & lack of covid, but you can do your own research on either to confirm they got it at work. Sydney was 58 days without a covid case before the security guard got infected, that’s long enough that covid was cleared even from all sewer systems (residual remains in the sewer for a month or more after people have recovered) so there was confirmed no covid present in Sydney via mass testing of the entire population via sewer testing. Additionally genomic sequencing confirmed he had the identical virus genome sequence to the infected person staying on the same floor of the quarantine hotel that he was assigned to guard.

There is no question whatsoever as to the source person for this infection, only how it got through the closed door to infect him (while wearing an n95) is in question. It was B117, as was the Brisbane case which was an identical transmission scenario & there’s been at least 5 additional identical transmissions in Australia (mostly with b117), although the previous ones didn’t have continuous CCTV footage available, it was set up due to the previous cases & questions as to if there was PPE breaches or if the virus was just that transmissible. NZ likewise has begun getting these same quarantine hotel breaches in recent months, so you can also research their situations & outbreaks if you want even more verification. Covid is eliminated in Australia & NZ, the only cases being caught in Aus/NZ are ones caught in quarantine hotels & occasional leaks from these facilities into the community, which are shut down & virus completely eliminated again within weeks at most anytime they happen. We know EXACTLY how it spreads, with every case genome sequenced & traced. We’ve not had a case here since May that we haven’t been able to identify it’s entry point into the country & then confirm it’s eliminated completely from the country. From contracting it via collecting a pre-paid, pre-ordered pizza from a pizza store with an infected person working at the store to contracting it via pulling a mask down & using a borrowed cigarette lighter to light up, we know how each case has been transmitted.

  5. This is troubling. I hope that our scientist can find out more and add more knowledge and add changes to vaccines and treatments.

    1. so do i ! but 75 million of our fellow citizens ‘believe’ that accepting evidence /results arrived at thru scientific method is a CHOICE.

    2. no more knowledge is needed, only action is. The UK could take the mutation seriously & lockdown in response to it, why can’t you?

    3. I hope this new variant gets rid of the stupid in Mississippi and Alabama who think this is a flu shot
      I never said I was a Christian.

    4. @qjtvaddict which is so sad 🙁 I’m glad to see the voter reform bill is being pushed though, that’s going to make a big difference long term!
Meanwhile though, I’m in Australia, where we closed our state borders to deal with stupid. I don’t understand why US states aren’t doing the same & eliminating it from individual states. Life outside Melbourne/Victoria was completely normal while they did their 6 month lockdown, cause our army & state police in the other states locked down the border & locked them in their plague state until they learnt to behave & take covid seriously

    1. we’ve been calling it that for over a year now. It was certainly the US that caused us the problems with it! Chinese imports were very easy to find & eliminate, US people were too ignorant & spread it far & wide 🙁

  6. Do you know what makes America great?
Her people. We make America great, but only when we come together. When we are divided our country is weak and vulnerable.
We stand together, or we fall apart.

  7. Yeah, the main question NOT asked is; Did anyone who was vaccinated get infected by these new variants ???
Why are they NOT asking/answering this question ??

    1. That doesn’t really mean much. Vaccines don’t make you immune to anything until about 80% of the population has it. A vaccinated person exposed to too much of the virus can catch it variant or not

  8. I want this to end sooner than later but I constantly see people out with people without masks so I guess I’ll get my life back in a couple years. Every infection is a chance for mutation. You might have a low chance of death, but you’re just training the virus to do better next time.

  9. This plethora of variants probably happened in 1918-20, and were seen but not specifically identified a svariants, there were at least 3 pikes in cases. But as Dr Fauci tried to say but was being shouted-down by a failed ophthalmologist recently. Getting the level of cases down makes variants less able to mutate.

    1. @george mira no he was right, there was a global pandemic 100 years ago that was the worst in human history in terms of how many it killed

  10. you could do some research so you can actually understand what you’re reading…and ask follow up questions?

  11. So in other words folks just because you’ve had your two shots doesn’t mean you can let your guard down and stop wearing a mask – it’s isn’t over yet.

  12. History is reminding us of what has happened once before, to our knowledge. Preliminary confirmation will start to show ip in mass mortalities. You get what you give.

  13. What about health problems and severe allergies? You still need to wear a mask btw!! Common sense! That is not immunity! Also Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are still in fact based of experimental technologies. As one of my doctors said, “honestly I have no idea what I’tll do to me down the line in the future but I couldn’t get it in my arm fast enough, I was scared”.
