October jobs report exceeds expectations despite GM strike

US employers added 128,000 jobs in October, the Bureau of Labor Statistics said in its monthly jobs report. Meanwhile, the unemployment rate rose slightly to 3.6%, but it was for a good reason: 325,000 Americans started looking for work. CNN's Christine Romans reports overall, the report was far stronger than expected, beating economists' forecasts for a gain in 89,000 jobs. #CNN #News

  1. So let’s elect a socialist-democrat next year to raise taxes, expand government control of our lives, and flood the country with even more illegals to subsidize and drugs to kill us… makes sense. 🤣🤣🤣

    1. Drugs aren’t already killing us? Also, they are only killing us because we are the only culture in the world that consumes the drugs like a bunch of maniacs.

    1. John Patrick – usmca is barely different from nafta. Canada hasn’t signed yet either. Is Nancy pelosi holding it up there too?

    1. I guess CNN could try these headlines to attract a certain crowd-
“Unemployment rate only dropped because more people are out of labor force & have stopped looking for work. Not a real recovery, phony numbers”
“Unemployment number is a complete fraud as evidenced by the jobless claims number released yesterday. Real unemployment is at least 15%”
“The number is not reflective. I have seen numbers of 24 percent. I saw a number of 42 percent unemployment. … That number is so false.”
“Nobody has jobs. … It is not a real economy. It is a phony set of numbers. They cooked the books.”
“The numbers are phony. These are all phony numbers. Numbers given to politicians to look good. These are phony numbers.”

    2. Here’s some REAL NEWS

US National debt surpasses terrifying $23 TRILLION as Trump praises ‘greater than expected’ jobs & stock surge —

President Trump has applauded the latest jobs report and its positive effect on stock markets as critics unleashed on him for his failed promise to tame the US government spending spree that pushed the national debt over $23tn. Thats $69,000 PER CITIZEN!

President Trump, of course, is not alone in failing to restrain the debt, which also soared under his recent predecessors. The Barack Obama administration added around $9 trillion to the figure, while George Bush Jr. increased it by just shy of $6 trillion. Depending how one divides the numbers, President Trump has so far contributed between $3 and $4 trillion to the count.

    1. @Bytor 1001 guess you didn’t watch the video because they said it’s solely due to the GM strike which has nothing to do with the tariffs and China.

    2. @Bytor 1001 uh, China is the one taking all the manufacturing jobs… look up “China hybrid warfare” right here on YouTube

    3. I expected zoozoos and wham whams, not nonstop reporting on interpretations of Trump’s facial expressions!!!!

    4. @Russian Bot aka CNN’s Anonymous sources I would say the companies are going overseas, China and India specifically, because of labor laws. So china isbt taking , more like many S&P fortune 500-200-100 compAnies “giving” these countries the chance.

    5. Janet Airlines – I’m not sure that’s the case. There are many places in the USA where sea levels are not rising. And it’s not funny for those who live in areas where they are rising. Homes and livelihoods gone. I can’t see why that merits a smiley face.

    1. @bingo_fuel if you had a working brain you could have figured out none of the media outlets are credible sources of information….and you also could have figured out it is almost impossible to even give an accurate number of how many blacks are employed in traditional jobs because many blacks are leaving the traditional labor ranks and becoming self employed….not only did you fail to understand how they even compiled the statistics you cited you didn’t even read them properly to make sure your lie fit the numbers 😂😂😂😂😂😂

    2. @onehothand68 in the last 3 years trump has turned America into the LAUGHING STOCK OF THE WORLD….and that’s a fact we can prove without using CNN or Washington post articles….thats why he needs you a non American to promote him because real American citizens who are educated do not like trump.

    3. @Amen Knowtech well if there are no credible sources then you have nothing to references and you’re openly admitting that you’re making up statistics lol. no amount of emojis can change that. you got taught a lesson by a Trump supporter today lol. take care lil one

  2. Trump related? Gotta hate it, it’s preprogrammed into my npc personality.

This isn’t bad news, ya loons.

    1. @Diana Strange you once again fail to grasp that the entirety of the number is almost exclusively GM workers on strike!

    1. Fillywan Plays – eh? This has nothing to do with impeachment. Why would they want to impeach him over job figures? That’s crazy.

    2. Stephen peterson – they’re not. They’re not coming back in any country in the world. Get real. Automation, robots etc are changing the face of industry. We need to adjust to that. Manufacturing jobs are down. That should worry people instead of gloating over increase in service jobs.

    3. tom schmitz – oh well said! They’re never coming back. These Republicans are luddites who are in thrall to a past that.

    4. Jamtommy1 – if you are referring to the republicans anti abortion stance, you are totally arming. Trump has reinstated the Mexico City policy, which amongst other things leads to an increase in abortions in develop countries. They did not need to reinstate it but they did. So quit calling the Democrats baby killers. I am anti abortion, and the republicans are no better than democrats on this issue. Get off the moral high ground.

    1. M Nope – actually if you knew what trump has done to the environment you would see that it is totally logical. Since you clearly don’t know, here’s a few: sought to increase fossil fuel use and scrap many environmental regulations, signed executive orders to approve two controversial oil pipelines, called for more drilling in national parks and completed plans for opening the entire coastal plain of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to drilling for gas, rollbacks and proposed reversals of environmental will likely cost the lives of thousands US residents per decade and lead to respiratory problems. And yes, he took USA out of Paris climate accord. Completely nonsensical since targets were voluntary. But Obama signed it so it must be bad.

    3. @Amos Cardoza Not President Trumps fault silly. Of course it is the brainwashed left who let their TVs tell them how to think. Amos, are you HOMOSEXUAL ? I only ask because you seem HOMOSEXUAL.

    1. @Buisman Classic Aroma I like that kiddie fiddler democrats want totally open borders and free stuff for all illegals paid for by the middle class 🙂

    2. And you think trump is creating this? The best part of this is watching idiots think trump deserves credit…..

    1. Dury Martin – oh I hope you have proof of that otherwise I think Obama should sue you. That’s some allegation and if you have just made it up what kind of persons are you? course it may be there’s another president with a multi million dollar house on beach front property. …

    2. Dury Martin – you know the facts in relation to you. That’s all you are entitled to say. Do you really think Obama pocketed your money and bought a house? I think Obama’s books and speaking engagements have contributed more to his living arrangements than you have, unless of course you were paying millions in tax? I think it’s an appalling thing to accuse someone of with no factual basis.

    3. mrbear1302 – I wondered about that. Are they full time jobs? Are they permanent? Can a person live on the wages? I am surprised that more trump supporters on here are not asking those questions. And I would be worried about decline in manufacturing more than anything else.

    1. Only trump supporters spin positive news into negative sentiments just to own libs, good job reports but let’s not forget all what Trump said when these numbers were positive and high during Obama era. Called it fake and manipulated, also said private sectors are to thank.

    2. brIAN STELter vs. Mark Dice challenge – oh, when did they start doing that? I must have missed it. Is it the same way that Lindsay Graham screamed in the kavanaugh hearing, or a more high pitched scream?

    1. @James Ouellette what you know about it soy boy. You probably still live in your mom’s basement playing video games. Work is work and Trump is making the economy flourish. So suck it snowflake. Trump 2020!!!

    1. @JaQuille Sanders i understand that and no president seems to take national debt seriously since president Clinton. The debt got way worse under Obama and trump not helping it either. It is terrible and neither party does anything

    2. @Nick King exactly. They keep doing all this buying and spending, trade deals, military budget but never address the debt issue.
      China is our biggest creditor.
Its safe to say they own us at this point.
Because we owe trillions of dollars that we can never pay back.

    3. @MELPCSR Jr. I just double checked the U.S. bureau of economic statistics and you are incorrect on those numbers. But I do see where you got the numbers for Barry, his last 6 quarters. You cant cherry pick. Either way fact is Obama had the least growth of any president. Trumps economy is the best ever. Add in the all time low unemployment rates, taxes down, wages up and other things that affect the economy besides growth and only a fool could argue Barry had a better economy.

    1. I’m surprised they are being honest about it. CBS is trying to spin it in the opposite direction

    2. The Morose Pittbull – I can understand that. Manufacturing is down. That was what trump said he would bring back.

    3. @Onair Carna I also credit Gordon Ramsy. His cooking shows inspire people to eat healthier, farm fresh foods

    1. @LCarlTBM x THe 6 % is small for China as they have a different system. Also they inflate it with currency reserves, and the clock on that is ticking on that. China trade deal incoming. God bless Donald Trump!

    2. LCarlTBM x while they use children to profit yeah I wonder why their doing so much better maybe because they have no regard for human life and are currency manipulate who own the central banking system

    1. And you think trump is creating this? The best part of this is watching idiots think trump deserves credit…..

    2. @Luis Martinez well after Trump’s changes to the economy I actually received a raise in my pay, in 8 years of Obama I never got a raise under his economy, coincidence?
